  1. I'm another very happy Meercat customer. Got a sportscat/snakehead downpipe/centre section and uppipe

put on during the last couple of years with no problems.

No MOT issues with the sportscat.

Both excellent quality and pricing ;)

Also both welcome SIDC members - say I sent you to C&C and you may get a discount too :)

  2. Hi everyone

im looking for some help in deciding what subaru to buy. im stuck between the 07 wrx GB270, the 05-07 saloon wrx sti, and if i can stretch my budget(doubtfull ;) ) the 07 RB320.

looking for any help in decision as i cant see a lot between the GB270 and the STI, as this will be my first subaru as well was wondering if anyone could also give information on the running cost i.e brake pads, service costs.

    cheers for any post

STI has different suspension, brakes, seats, body parts, gearbox, mapping, exhaust, etc and are all generally upgrades from the WRX. Both are excellent cars and, speaking as someone who had an 03 WRX for 3 years, great cars. Fuel economy and general "live-ability" is better with a WRX but you'll end up upgrading some bits and bobs (everyone does) and some of them may be STI type things.

The RB320 is the best of the lot and would be well worth the stretch (and hold it's value best) BUT the STI or GB270 probably offers the best value for money at present.

  3. Welcome along mate :)

For servicing there are several very good tuners around the country who can do the work for you if you want to avoid main dealer (Hypertech Bonnybridge or Extreme Motorsport in Whitburn), or Ian Grieve Subaru in Falkirk are very good.

As for info on the car, look at the top of the page and click "SCOOBYPEDIA" - a brilliant resource for info.

  4. there are not much mods for scooby hatch apert from usa, especially for my diesel scooby lol

prodrive used to do loads springs etc but due to economy etc not much happening litchfield have a few mods but mostly sti bases as usual

    martin

Quite a bit available for the car at many tuners - it's not vastly different mechanically to previous Impreza's so much of what could be done before can still be done.

Springs etc are available for the STI (Tein etc making parts so plenty for the car) and the usual range of accessories available on the Subaru site.

  5. Lol - how true.

Already ordered my red light overlays from Iain Litchfield, as well as bootliner & bumper protector & STI mats from Subaru so far...

Bought decent cleaning products for it and a new tool chest which is a bargain in Halfords just now (got a few good bargains in their sale...). This one is a good buy (products are pretty crap but it's a bargain):

So hard not to spend money with sales on car stuff. Even managed a Magnetic WRC Tax Disc Holder for 50p :D

  6. Cheers all. It looks much better in the flesh and red really shows off the lines. Everyone thinks it looks bigger than they though it would be and there is more rear legroom in it than in the Lexus and a higher roof inside. Stereo much better than previous Subaru crap! All seems quite solid.

Mentioned to Iain Litchfield today about the car being red - he said "you'll really enjoy the car and there are only a handful of red ones in the U.K.". Nice to know.

It will be tastefully "tweaked" as and when my overdraft's flames die down!

Next pics I post up will be a) Better when camera arrives and :D the car will be filthy!

    Brian.

  7. Now that I'm "scoobieless" with the sale of my blob today I'm looking at getting a classic that I can use on the track. It will by no means be a dedicated track car as I will use the car at weekends etc so will be still driven on the queens highways. In my mind just now I'm looking for a Type R to do the job.

Has anyone made the jump from Newage to Classic and what where your experiences and opinions on the differences? I know there are a few members that have both and would just like to know if you think a Type R for the wieght saving/looks/price would be the best way to go for a fast road/track set up?

    Any input welcomed :D

I made the jump from a 2003 WRX, which I had for 3 years, to an STI Version 1 (no.21). I enjoyed the switch, it was rawer and different but not any more or less enjoyable the WRX. Now moved onto a new STI Hatch, which hopefully will be the best of both - and much easier to use as an every day car but still stupid quick!

You can only really regret something you never do - everything else only has the potential to be a fixable mistake. Go for it.

    Brian ;)
