  1. Scotland really needs a truly world class facility. A couple of square miles in the clyde valley or down south ayrshire way I can think of. Natural valleys for the spectating, decent undulations in the valleys for a good circuit. Some rally stages in the nearby forrests. All we'd need is some dedication and some money. A hundred mil should buy something decent. I'll chip in the next fiver, who's next?
  2. Got a set of Scott's flaps on mine: Not the best picture as it was a dull day (they all are) but they look the mutts up close. I did the smart thing and gave a guy £40 to fit mine.
  3. As most of you may know I've only been an Impreza owner since December, and only recently joined the SIDC and started frequenting the forums. I see people mention Kames and Alford for trackdays, but I know next to nothing about these places. So can anyone provide a rundown of any tracks in Scotland for me? I know about Knockhill obviously. Not driven the track, yet, but been to a few BTCC races and done the rally school. Cheers
  4. Kaimes? Is that the sign for the Rally Track I see when going through Muirkirk? My company has loads of sites down that direction, and an office in Muirkirk, so if I'm out visiting then I usually pass through the village.
  5. They did the first service on my car. Not impressed I have to say. Costly, although it is a european import so fair enough, but also "too busy" to look at a problem with my driver's seat which was mentioned to them when the car was booked in for a service. Infact the day it was booked in for a service it had been taken to them to get them to look at the problem with the seat, which they said "we'll do that when we service it". The two sales guys (1 might have been from the Vauxhall part of the garage) were nice as anything when I spoke to them many months ago though. So that's +1 over the sales guy at Drive who looked firmly down his nose at me in the most arrogant way he could.
  6. Anyone unfortunate enough to belong to said car spotted heading south towards the Auchenkillens roundabout at 8:30-8:40 this morning. A crying shame.
  7. Not bad Carl. I washed mine on Friday at work, but in the week before that I had visited 2 open cast coal mines and done about 400 miles of driving. I had to stand back from my car and have a think where the rear number plate actually was before I gave it a quick wipe down. I didn't want to tempt fate and get pulled on the A80 which has been swarming with the plod recently.
  8. Out of interest, any idea how much insurance is for a trackday afternoon?
  9. It's got to be Keep Hope Alive by the Crystal Method. Dangerous, dangerous music. It used to be on my "car chase music" minidisc.
  10. caz, I wasn't going THAT fast. It was a spirited drive, I'll grant you that, but no cutting corners or taking wild overtaking chances. I've driven the road a few times before, and been driven on it, as the company I work for has a large number of sites just off it. It was the first time I'd had the chance to do it since I got my Impreza though. If I saw a coal truck, or other truck coming the other way I backed off because some of the cornering they do is SCARY.
  11. I wasn't working in my usual office today, so I had a nice wee trip down the back way to deepest darkest south east ayrshire. My route took me along the A70 from where it meets the M74, all the way to just past Ochiltree. About 30 miles of really good A road. Plenty of twists and turns of all sorts. Only a couple of villages to slow down for, and only got caught in traffic a few times, there and back. Well worth the drive if anyone is down that way.
  12. Banzai is really easy to get hold of in Halfords. I've bought the last 2 issues there. The first one because I was in getting something else, and the second one because I knew it was out and you can usually get parked outside your local halfords and not a mile away in a shopping centre car park like going to WH Smiths.

  14. I've lined up a couple of willing victims, I mean participants, to tag along for the afternoon. A video camera too. One of my mates recently picked up a WRX too (after I gave him a lift in mine he was hooked), but he's taking a bit of convincing to bring the car for some track day action.
  15. Hey guys. Just paid for my membership and the trackday. Hopefully see you all there, and around the forum too. I'll add it to my daily rota of sites to visit. I've maybe spoken to some of you on the other set of forums, and I've been dealing with the always very helpful Jamie who's getting me a prodrive gearknob. I've never done a trackday before, really looking forward to hopefully the first of many. Can we bring along passengers/mates/victims, and do they have to pay? None of them will get to drive my baby of course. That's just for me. Stephen
