What's wrong with bass boxes/subwoofers? They're an essential part of any audio setup. Don't we call them Neds in this part of the world too? and: 24. Spinning hub caps on really crap cars. Especially when you've only got three of them as someone's nicked the 4th. 25. Actual spinning rims too.

I love motorsports of all shapes and sizes. 2 wheel and 4. But rallying is easily in the top 2 or 3 for me. Tarmac rallying especially as people have said. I think it takes a special kind of certifiable madness to drive a rally car at those kind of speeds. Watching Loeb on that last stage of the mexican rally was something special. 30 seconds faster than those 2 guys he passed. You wouldn't see that sort of balls out action in most other motorsports. So guys, I've never actually been to a rally. Where's the good tarmac ones in Scotland? Preferably fairly centrally located. Wouldn't mind going to one.

I got a set of the standard WRX ones. After less than 5,000 miles they're looking a bit worn where my left heel goes. Not what I expect for £60. Think I'll get some reinforced ones next time.

Cheers Jamie. That's reminded me to set the Sky+ to pickup the highlights in an hours time. It's great having a team to support in motorsport again. When I had my civic I liked to see the Hondas do well in the BTCC, but 3 years of owning a Vectra and I couldn't bring myself to wish anything but painful retirements to any Vauxhall that was racing.

I'll be up for this. Need to get me GT4 firstly though. That's my plan for the weekend if my stereo doesn't arrive. I took part in a weekly challenge with some guys from another forum when GT4 prologue was out. Every week someone picked a particular event and everyone recorded times for it. Points were awarded at the end, but it was only for pride and never anything tangible. Great fun though. My favourite event was hustling the little Spoon Fit round the Italian mountain side village.

I've had to withdraw I'm afraid. I've been off work for the last few days and I doubt I'd get round a corner without sneezing or hacking up a lung. Not the best thing to happen really. So I'm gutted I'll miss it. If I feel a bit better I'll maybe come up to spectate, but I'll probably just stay in bed all day again. Oh well, enjoy yourself fellows.

I was on a course in Edinburgh today and it took me near 3 hours to get from the SE of Glasgow to the middle of Edinburgh. Had intended getting a train at livingston like I used to do when working in Edinburgh, but by the time I'd got that far I thought I was going to completely miss the course. Luckily for me the poor guy taking it was stuck over Edinburgh airport for 2 hours as they had to shut the place. So I arrived in nice time after all. I'd rather have been out in the untouched carparks of Clackmannanshire though. We still had snow at work on Monday from last week's falls.

Can anyone recommend a good ICE installer/dealer. Anywhere Central really, Glasgow, Edinburgh and anywhere in between, or Falkrik, Stirling. I'm not even that far from Dunfermline at work. Need front speakers soon, and deadening + collars to go with them. Was in at a couple of shops on Great Western Road last saturday but they didn't really seem to know what they were doing with Imprezas. Laughable prices too.

I've got a couple of little nicks and one scratch in my paint work. Nothing deep, but they show up something awful on a shiny black car, or on a dirty brown car too. Too many stones getting thrown up on the motorway these days. Anyone got any recommendations for either DIY products or a good pro job. Want to catch them early before running into problems later down the line. Glasgow, Edinburgh, Stirling, Falkirk. Anywhere central really.

What sort of miles has it got on it? You can pickup a new Euro Import for £17K inc. having an Alarm fitted. Not much more than the 15,750 really. Cost of ownership - It's not cheap, but then I wouldn't say it's expensive considering the fun you can have. I get about 25mpg with my driving style. Insurance - you're best to check that out too, not cheap for me as a 23 year old. Well 23 for the next 11 hours anyway. And you'll want to add bits to it too. Like gold wheels.

Cal, where abouts is that? I happened to be dropping someone off at 11pm on boxing day at Newton train station. The carpark there was covered in Ice and I had a nice wee slide to myself. I was grinning the rest of the week.

It's below and slightly to the left of the E if the dash is roughly the same as the 05. I've yet to run the risk of having mine turn on, except pulling out of the garage for the first time with 3 tablespoonfuls of petrol in the tank. I had visions of not even getting out of the motorpoint compound.

Is it too late for me to get one of these?

I was short shifting. That's my excuse and I'm sticking too it. The car was only about 4 days past the 1000 mile service, so I really didn't want to rag it too hard. I didn't launch aggressively either. I think I'll keep wheeling out these excuses for the next few weeks to explain my lack of pace on the track day.

andy, I work at the old Castlebridge Coal Mine just outside Kincardine/Alloa, so I pass through Kincardine going North over the bridge then through the village at about 8:30-8:45 (if I'm working my regular hours), and then back the other way about 5:20. I've passed a few other Impreza drivers in the area. A black Bugeye with the Prodrive rear spoiler, looks gooooood. A black newage, can't remember if it was a bug or a blob, complete with silver WRC stickering, and a few classics. Any of them you so I know who to wave at?

Mmmmm. Yes Toys. You can probably see top left of the picture is a Classic Road Angel - half price at halfords on boxing day - and out of shot is the mount for a G-Tech Pro RR. That's the version with PC connection and full G-logging etc. which will definetley be getting a good work out at the track day. Then hopefully if my mate can work his camera alright we can do some nice editing with in-car footage of a lap complete with replayed telemetry from the G-Tech. MUAHAHAH. G-Tech was bought of ebay from a nice person in America. £150 inc. postage IIRC. Retails at £230+ in the UK. I of course have no real legitimate use for it other than satisfying my need for a ridiculous number of displays and gadgets in the car. And producing graphs like this:

What you want is one of these cal - - Blitz R-Vit. Plugs into the OBDII port underneat the dash and reads out just about everything. I have mine set on "In-MF" usually, on the "elipse meter", which works as a boost gauge, and also displays a tempreature I told it to. Quick press of up and down takes me to either the needle meter, bar graph, three fold monitor or six fold monitor. All of the readouts are assignable so on your three graphical displays you can measure anything you want. They also have a space for the peak value of whatever you are monitoring, and a simple text read out of another value. The three fold and six fold monitors display the value of 3 and 6 different readouts of your chosing. I like it, and it's quite a bit more discrete than 3 or 4 gauges. I bought my regular WRX from Motorpoint in December (an MY05 at that) and the service has been nothing short of excellent. In terms of differences in the models the WRX was UK spec with the exception of no alarm. Needless to say I had the car fitted with a Cat1 and a tracker before it left the motorpoint compound. Motorpoint themselves were great to deal with. A complete no hassle approach to selling a car. The salesman was friendly and let me take as much time as I wanted viewing the car without bothering me. Once I went back in to talk figures it was very straight forward. I'd been in before early last year so I knew the deal with the trade-ins being poor, and their finance not being so great. I got a trade in value off the guy for my car which he explained was basically what it would likely fetch at auction, which is where they would send it. I did sell my car to a mate as planned so that wasn't a problem. Their finance offers weren't pushed on me as being the best thing since sliced bread, and I'd already sorted myself out with a loan anyway. You know the price they're offering is the price they'll take. They'll not haggle like dealers will, and they can't really offer you anything good like mats because they just don't sell them. My car is a Maltese import, and within about 3 or 4 weeks of buying it I received a maltese warranty book (all in English), complete with my details, and a letter from Subaru Malta thanking me for buying the car and explaining the warranty was pan-european. Also included was the original sales invoice proving the car was european, which I faxed off to International Motors (Subaru UK) to sort out Warranty cover in the UK. So to round up - I would have no problems dealing with them again, and I recommended them to a mate who is now the proud owner of a Blue '05 WRX (will be at the trackday, but not on track). My rudimentary maths on the cost of an import STI + OTR fees + alarm + tracker + the cost of 3 years servicing which is currently free on the UK cars = still £3-4K cheaper than UK spec. Tough choice AYE, RIGHT! I saved almost 3 grand on my WRX, although free servicing wasn't on offer at that time. Spoiler - believe you will need to fill in some holes which may involve a respray of the boot at worst. Saw someone from another board saying they had to do that after fitting a different spoiler to an STI (not a WRX one though).
