I've been known to enjoy a bit of speed on the highway, and track use is much more harsh on the pads anyway.
If you're doing them in after a few K of only road use then you're either driving like a total maniac, or you're not bedding them in properly. You've got to get a good few miles on them with gentle pressure.
Like I said, 12K including a half day and a full day trackday (with the afore mentioned spin) plus plenty of enjoyable spirited runs, including being in the lead group on the November run and following The Squirrel.
