  1. Scoobyc on Snet kindly gave this link to his day there ! All that without trashing a set of tyres !!! Come on guys - get booked !!!
  2. Been trying to get on the wet track at Rockingham for a while and now been told there is a slot on JANUARY 19th (Tuesday) but I need 5 people + me to secure the slot. 6 PLACES NOW BOOKED !!!! Option 1 (Total of 5 booked in) Half day on the wet track learning how to control skids, and intro to 4 wheel drifting . The proportion of time between the 2 elements is open to some adjustment, depending on who wants what. There should be 2 instructors per 6 of us. Total time about 2-2.5 hours on the wet track, but shared between those there. £99 Option 2: for people who want a whole day's experience (One booked on this, so need 9 more to make it happen) Morning = Option 1, then afternoon is the Drive Safe experience. Whole day £175 For more info see website, or contact Kyley - info above is brief outline only. http://www.rockingham.co.uk/index.asp For wet grip select OEM (top menu bar) then wet grip. For Drive safe select "Driver Training" from top menu bar then its the 6 bullet points at the bottom of the page. Places are very limited, so if you are interested contact Kyley on 01536 271524 who will give any more info + payment details. Please PM me or post here if you are going (ie paid !) so I keep track of numbers ! Loads of people on here have been, and will hopefully add more info/feedback !
  3. I did it about 6 years ago - seem to remember needing to get under roof lining + having to buy new external roof trim as you are left with gaps in the black plastic trim. Cost a lot (crazy money) from Scooby main agent for trim + fixing clips. Stan
  4. 08 STi Euro Import from Iain Litchfield (same spec as 330S - Recaros, tints, dvd, button start etc, but £6K cheaper than UK ! ). Litchfield Stage 2 engine mods - Miltech exhaust (quiet !), intake and remap. AST suspension, uprated front roll bar, poly suspension/steering bushes and rear subframe bushes, anti-lift, strut brace, u/c brace, Alcons F&R http://s31.photobucket.com/albums/c369/StanW/Scooby%202008/ Very pleased with it - so much more civilised than the 98UK I had for 7 years ! Stan
  5. The way the bonnet drops so steeply, I doubt they could get an engine in ! Compare that bonnet bulge to the 08 ! Looks nice though !
  6. Had to have a wheel bearing replaced and for once I was happy paying a Subaru Garage. Bill was less than estimate, then SIDC discount ( ), only 1 mile on the clock for the "test drive", so nice one !! Only criticism was that the car was not washed with a £200+ bill. Still, perfection is hard to find nowadays (except in a mirror of course!!!!) Stan
  7. Could have been me ? - I was also on the A82 doing the "tourist thing". Stan
  8. Thanks again for all the info/help - much appreciated especially John, until I went through all the roads you gave me, I hadn't realised it was virtually a complete touring holiday plan !!! Am working out mileages for stopovers/meals etc. Can't wait ! Stan
  9. Checked the Shell staion list and it seems there are no ststions N of Glasgow on the W coast as has been pointed out by Grant. Iwas hoping there may be one which had been left off the Shell list (like the one in Bury St Edmunds they missed off the list !). As Mine's mapped for Optimax and 5l of methanol/tank, don't really fancy carrying 25+ litres of methanol in the car on a touring holiday - it'll really slow it down (!) - oh and I suppose there is the risk of a major problem if in an accident ! The cheap booster solution has a drawback - doh !! Stan
  10. I'm too tight to part with any of my blood ! Just checked out Optimax stations North of Glasgow on the West coast - NONE LISTED !!!!!! Are there any Forty William area ??????? help.............. Stan
  11. Thanks very much for the info guys - much appreciated. I'm marking the Optimax stations on the map from the list they published, but thanks for the reminder Grant. Also all the suggested places, roads - cheers Chris n Col ! Looking forward to the trip ! Thganks again guys Stan
  12. Hi John, Thanks for your fantastic reply - just printing it off !! Always meant to "do" Scotland - where half my ancestors came from. Hope the weather is like this - maybe a bit cooler ! Cheers, Stan
  13. Hi, Planning a 10 day tour of the West Coast of Scotland, so who better to ask for recommended scenery/roads/B&B/Hotels etc than the "locals" !! Any recommendations would be appreciated ! Cheers, Stan
  14. Depends what you want it for: 1. Civilised, comfortable, reliable car you are NOT going to modify, 2. Something that is going to give you a massive grin every time you drive it and won't depreciate much. If "2" you can get 400+BHP well sorted car which will need no further mods, (but will need the odd thing replacing/ mending) for < £10K. Horses for courses etc. I went for "1" 6 years ago, then ended up changing into "2" Good fun but financially dumb. Stan
  15. Wagons - the true shape. These saloons are a passing fad. In time all Scoob wheels will be wagons. mmm...... wagon wheels.........
  16. Big thanks to Roy (Scoobyroy@aol.com), whose valetting skills have renewed my tired car. Amazing shine, and bright interior and upholstery ........ niiiiiice ! Its amazing how well Japfest dings buff out ! And happy birthday for tomorrow !! Cheers, Stan
  17. Every day - but only 28 mile round trip to work/back, so ANY excuse for a drive - to collect stuff for the car, visit suppliers, get geometry checked ..... (so sad, soooooo much fun !) Stan
  18. Hi Mark, As I understand it, drop LINKS are the bits of metal that connect two parts together, whilst bushes are cylindrical cushion material between the fixing bolt ant the arm/strut you are trying to pin. Stan
  19. Can't hear anything (including the wife ) over the engine - PARDON ? Stan
  20. Hi Lee ! Date not so important (8 week summer holidays ! ) - more interested in what the course is teaching, as I've passed the RoSPA advanced driver course so am not really looking for more ! but I assume its track techniques. As soon as I know what the course is about I can sort it ! Stan
  21. Sorry to be dumber than usual (its exam season - so a bit knackered marking !) I assume this is for track techniques rather than road driving skills ? If so "Yes please" as I drive like a hooligan on track ! (car is well on its way to a full recovery ! ) Is it £150 each or per "car" of 4 people ? Stan
  22. I'm near B St Eds and usually go to my nearest meet at Fen Ditton (Camb meet in "Southern" on Scoobynet) middle of each month ish. Suffolk meet sounds good - there are quite a few in Bury area, but don't seem to be interested/aware of the meets (or waving ! !) Stan
  23. Hi Kim, The track day insurance was primarily there in case I had a big off, the XS is not that huge and maybe borderline for what it would cost me to repair (I think !) Next time, I'll think about paying a bit more for a lower XS ! Doh ! Stan
  24. Hi Kim, Got it in case of a big one ! Just checking to see if I can stick it back together for less than the XS ! Tonydatiger - done quite a bit - cant find how to contact you to give a few details. Robbie09 - will see if the guy I gave the bits of mesh to (18" x 18") still has them - if so I will let you know and post them. Stan
