  1. Best I got with the Hatch was 36mpg average back from Litchos to Norfolk, but that was doing a steady 60-65 mph in convoy with Mrs. Normal is 28/9 mpg, but thats driving sensibly - doing overtakes but not blatting everywhere ! As others have said, its possible, with will power and concentration on your right foot, to get high mpg, but boring ! On the wife's Golf TDi 2.0 Bluemotion I averaged 84 mpg going to Wales - but by keeping to under 60mph - added 1.5 hours to journey and seemed to take forever ! Kept to under 65 on the way back and got 73mpg. Previously doing "normal 75-80mph got 63mpg, but saved 1.5 hours ! Good fun to find out what an "economical" car is capable of. Think I'll take the middle path, which only added 45 mins to the journey.
  2. Are they getting desperate ? Hope it covers stone chip damage to the front.
  3. Sadly a common experience when using main agents. Mine went in for minor work and the technician failed to refil the oil (put 4 litres in instead of the 5.5 it needed with the oil cooler etc)and then the dealer principal decided to take it for a thrash (totally uncalled for). He said its perfectly OK to thrash them with no oil showing on the dipstick !! For peace of mind I had it stripped/rebuilt with new bearings/rings @ £4K. Some total w***ers out there At least whoever buys my car will have the benefit of a "new" enginetuner engine
  4. A Subaru garage took my car for 2 "test" drives, having put insufficient oil in - they put 4 litres in but with the oil cooler and hoses, needs approx 5.5 litres, so no oil registered on the dipstick when I checked. As the oil pressure was a bit lower than usual, and being a perfectionist, I had the car transported to Alan to have it stripped, inspected and rebuilt. Thanks to Alan, Andy and Paul, it is now 100% again and running in. Great job guys (again). As my budget on the car is now reached (5 years earlier than expected - thanks Subaru ) the car is now for sale. At least the new owner will benefit from an Enginetuner "new" engine, back to 100%.
  5. Mine was the same 28-30mpg after exhaust and air filter change + remap to 350BHP At 460BHP is still the same, av 28-29 per tank but 22mpg in town. For sale in For sale section if interested !!
  6. Cheers Mark ! The likelihood of anything other than the air freshener being modified (to extra strong - nothing to do with her driving ..) is nil as it'll be her indoors' car.
  7. Something VERY cheap, reliable and fun (looks like a Westie), and a C30 diesel Volvo for sensible, older people. Am having the op to get the sticky out ears, and my flat cap is on order. Changing house name to "Dunmoddin"
  8. I'm here, trying to sell my car.
  9. Nice ! Looks so much smarter and thought through.
  10. bump - got to be ONE more person who wants a bit of lairy driving
  11. Cheers Tony I'll try on the other Forums and see if we can get 1 more.
  12. Doh ! So what techniques do you want Andy to cover, or are you happy to turn up and busk it ?
  13. So thats a definate 3 maybe !! Please let me know what YOU want included in the day so I can liaise with Andy. Then its easier to decide if what he's going to do makes th eday a goer for you.
  14. Good to meet you and Tony,Nige - and to put a face to the legendary Tony !!
  15. Tried to organise this earlier in the year but got no response - so here goes again !! I asked Andy Walsh at Car Limits, if he would make up a bespoke course including basic slalom ( eg in and out of a line of cones, handbrake turn at the end and back again) and an intro to drifting - a chance to practice controlled longish slides. I know the Scoob is not ideal for drifting, but its an excuse to try some controlled lairy driving Its a full day course for 4 people, so I'm looking for 3 (or more) Scooby drivers. I have some worn tyres to use, as I think this may not be tyre friendly Having done one of his courses before, I can recommend the day. Its a concentrated learning experience. 1-1 tuition to get the technique "right" then practice on your own, but Andy is always there watching, and to ask questions, and to passenger with you to help you perfect the manoevre or to demonstrate again. Andy said ‘As Scoobys don’t like tight stuff we can work on the hand brake stuff and the Scandinavian flick, trail braking to cause over steer, drift control and even the j turn could be covered along with the usual re-cap of the high speed bend that on a standard second day we usually work on sideways recovery anyway. I will talk to everyone on the morning of the course to assess the requirements of the group." Please p mail me if interested - or add comments on here !! If you are interested, let me know what you would like to learn/practice and I can update the requirements to Andy so he knows beforehand what we want. Then we can sort a date. His "4 person" days are normally £220 per person. http://www.carlimits.com/script/view...rfieldtraining OR could be somewhere else ??? Anyone got an airfield free ?
  16. I've had a couple of comments along the lines that I should be driving a car more suited to my age (mid 60's) ! I usually reply that in view of my age I'm limiting it to under 500BHP.
  17. Nearer to home there is Barretts Motorsport (Phil Venn) in Canterbury. Don't know if they are still running the motorsport division, but they rebuilt my Classic g box and were reputable engine builders in the early 2000's.
  18. I'm going with a load of the Scoobycity mob.
  19. I'd definitely have that colour coded - it doesn't seem to fit in at all.
  20. Love the different F+R splitters + colour coded Nice - but may take a while to get used to that funny boot bit sticking out the back
  21. About 320 cars of which about 290 were scoobies.
  22. A few pics of the SimplySubaruClub stand. Was amazed when these arrived at the convoy meet up point (was kept secret !) Bikes looked good as well: Some of the stand. Can't imagine how much time/effort went into sorting that lot !
  23. Great pics Great day, loads of fabulously prepared scoobies + "normal" ones in total about 300, and great to meet up with so many "names" from the forums Where did I put the "after sun" ...
  24. looking good so when did you say you were popping over to do mine ????
  25. Think he's well past his sell by date re: hosting TV shows ,,der der der der, but he was good at his job for a very long time - if you like that sort of thing. But then again so are millions of other people - who don't get a gong.
