  1. Knight to see you, to see you knight ! I'll get my coat .....
  2. Saw a Landcruiser wrapped in matt black and it looked great in the flesh. Didn't realise vinyl scratched easily !
  3. Many congratulations Phil !!! Was wondering how it was going ! And the bad news - you thought the Impreza was expensive !!!
  4. Hi Guys Glad to see the meets are still happening. Re Andy Forrest engine builds - for info - I contacted him about doing my engine last year and he's only doing mapping now - unless thats changed in the last few months ! Is it just me or are those horn blasters complete twats. Wonder if they'd still be laughing so much if they gave some old person a heart attack from the shock. When I was into customised vans I had loud lorry horns on the 1 ton van, with the compressor tank etc. But except on motorways/dual carriageways I used the std "beep" horns. Hope you had a good meet. Saving up to come down to one
  5. Or like you said you can have both ! Have the odd blast, but just enjoy being the one behind the wheel of an icon when in traffic and potter along doing 27+ mpg
  6. I fool myself by filling up when I'm still a third full - so only costs £50. Maybe I'm easy to fool Got a shock today when I ran out of green bottle BBQ gas - £27.50 for refill !!!!!! To buy the cylinder + gas £57.50.
  7. Sorry Salsa-king, thrown the towel in, going on another stand. Maybe we'll get enough Hatches next year. Dont want to hold out for something to happen and end up not getting sorted. Looking forward to meeting up
  8. Only the best colour in the summer - winter its mud coloured
  9. Disappointing that only 5 signed up Good opportunity to make a Hatch statement - we are not the unclean abomination of the Subaru stable
  10. If you are a petrol head its always going to be a problem balancing what your head says and whats in your wallet. My other half has lived with it for 45 years, and its still going on I remember in the 60's spending a month's salary (£28)on a gear/bearing set rebuilding my Mini gear box which kept (twice) stripping 1st gear due to incompatable engine power ! I was not popular for a while, so decided to get a car that goes well as standard (Lotus 7). Unfortunately the petrol head gene kicked in after a few weeks and the process continued .... Its hard when trying to balance all the other things the significant other wants and what you want. Good luck !!
  11. I asked the same question to Tom Jones - he said its not unusual. I'll go and get my slippers .....
  12. I asked Andy Walsh at Car Limits, to make up a bespoke course including basic slalom ( eg in and out of a line of cones, handbrake turn at the end and back again) and an intro to drifting - a chance to practice controlled longish slides. I know the Scoob is not ideal for drifting, but its an excuse to try some controlled lairy driving Its a full day course for 4 people, so I'm looking for 3 more Scooby drivers. I have some worn tyres to use on the back, as I think this may not be tyre friendly Having done one of his courses before, I can recommend the day. Its a concentrated learning experience. 1-1 tuition to get the technique "right" then practice on your own, but Andy is always there watching, and to ask questions, and to passenger with you to help you perfect the manoevre or to demonstrate again. Then onto the next "challenge" Andy said ‘As Scoobys don’t like tight stuff we can work on the hand brake stuff and the Scandinavian flick, trail braking to cause over steer, drift control and even the j turn could be covered along with the usual re-cap of the high speed bend that on a standard second day we usually work on sideways recovery anyway. I will talk to everyone on the morning of the course to assess the requirements of the group. Please mail me if interested. Then we can sort a date. His "4 person" days are normally £220 per person. 14. A lot of tracks (track days) have 105dB limit or 102 in evening sessions. Bedford is 95db IIRC !! My quiet Milltek is 103.5dB, so better put the centre resonator back in to be safe !
  15. Great ! So as you are in Cambridgeshire, will "we" see you tonight ? If so I'll come from sunny Norfolk to say Hi and meet one of the decision makers !
  16. As I don't know the name of the people who are lumbered with that specific job I put "they" as in "those who make the decisions" (horrible job but somebody has to do it !)
  17. I hope "they" don't amalgamate East Anglia into another existing region as E Anglia is as big as many of the current regions. I suggested something based on this: http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?imgurl=http://gwydir.demon.co.uk/jo/maps/england.gif&imgrefurl=http://gwydir.demon.co.uk/jo/maps/ukindex.htm&h=437&w=360&sz=9&tbnid=v9UJeeuvRb4ZvM:&tbnh=126&tbnw=104&prev=/search%3Fq%3Dengland%2Bcounties%26tbm%3Disch%26tbo%3Du&zoom=1&q=england+counties&usg=__QI1YB80yDI0IDap03TLSon99IsA=&sa=X&ei=99yzTYK0IYXA8QP_k4TRAQ&ved=0CDEQ9QEwBw Its tricky whatever is decided.
  18. That makes SE England a HUGE area compared to E Midlands !! Suggestion if you only want very few areas: (maybe split the green area - amalgamating the N green area with Wales) http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?imgurl=http://gwydir.demon.co.uk/jo/maps/england.gif&imgrefurl=http://gwydir.demon.co.uk/jo/maps/ukindex.htm&h=437&w=360&sz=9&tbnid=v9UJeeuvRb4ZvM:&tbnh=126&tbnw=104&prev=/search%3Fq%3Dengland%2Bcounties%26tbm%3Disch%26tbo%3Du&zoom=1&q=england+counties&usg=__QI1YB80yDI0IDap03TLSon99IsA=&sa=X&ei=99yzTYK0IYXA8QP_k4TRAQ&ved=0CDEQ9QEwBw
  19. Hi Mark ! Hope you are all well ! Looking at the choices, I assumed SE England was Kent, leaving E Mids as the next choice. Norfolk could be in the Far East Mids. ?????????????
  20. As per title + first to post in a new forum
  21. I was confused about oil and so have done a bit of reading and am less confused. It did take about 30 mins to read the following link (8 pages), but worth it if you REALLY want to try to understand what is going on. Its not straight forward as there are so many factors. Temp/pressure/flow rates/viscocity - around pages 6/7 IIRC. I needed to read from the start to make sure I was not using stuff I had "heard". http://www.bobistheoilguy.com/cms/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=83 I think my Motul 300V comp 15W50 is wrong for my engine and I think I should be on 5W40 or a 5W30. Phone call to my oil man tomorrow !
  22. I used Motul Comp 300V 15W50 in my classic for 7 years, running 430BHP which was driven hard (once it was warmed up!). Same in Hatch, but not yet driven hard. Excellent oil. Also used/use their diff and g/box oil.
  23. Hey Dibs - congratulations !! Hope to make next meet - in N Wales 29th !
