If its a 'W' reg it will be the last of the classic shape the face lift with the crystal clear lights etc, a very nice looking car. Is there any proof of the power and has the car been mapped it is very important that it is mapped for uk fuel especially if modded. Cheers Iain

As with any other car the newer the car the better its resale value will be, on the other hand the rarer classics like the 22B, the 2 door Type R and the lightweight/low geared RA seem to hold valve better than other models of the same age, its an easy choice for me but I am a Classic scoob man myself, I would make my choice on the machine itself not the price, have you driven the RA yet? It was the guy that has done all my mapping so far, Chris @ Linden specialist vehicles up in Wellingbourgh it cost me around £500-£600 including fitting and the initial map which is on par with the cost of an ecutek map. Cheers Iain

I would bet on full throttle runs that it would run lean though risking det, the scoob does run rich on boost anyway to help keep the piston temps down. Look at a piggy back ecu like the dastek unichip, that is what i am running on my sti. Cheers Iain

Is the gas coming out with the dipstick fitted or removed, you will get pressure build up in the sump area due to blowby from the pistons but this should be dealt with by the engine breathers. Cheers Iain

Hi all, Just a quick update on tomorrow. I always thought 16g, 18g, 20g were the turbine casing sizes as in the IHI series turbos use p15 p18 and p20 etc Might be wrong. If the above is correct a 16g for example would have better spool characteristics than the 18g or 20g but would lack there gas flow ability at top end, restricing the top end performance and vice versa. ie the 20g would be laggier than the 16 or 18 but when it gets going hold on Cheers Iain

Ok mate do you know what spring rating the forge actuator is set to? 0.5bar, 0.75bar, 1.0bar? Is the actuator arm adjusted correctly for the turbo ?, when fitted the arm should just slip over the pin on the wastegate with minimal effort ie you should not have to pull on the watstegate actuator arm to fit it over the pin. The arm should only be adjusted from that point to alter boost characteristics. If the actuator spring rating is 0.5bar you should have no issues, but you do so i am guessing its a 0.75 unless you have a boost control issue. To see what is at fault here you can do a few things. 1. If you are running a std 2 port solenoid ( t piece near the turbo with 1 long pipe off the the drivers side wing), remove the pipes from the wastegate and the turbo outlet (thats the 2 small pipes off the t piece) and fit a pipe that is long enough to connect the wastegate to the turbo outlet, this will allow you (if you have a boost gauge) to see what your waste gate spring rate is. Hopefully it will be rated below 1.0bar. You should not experience any judder during the test above!!!! Also have a good look at all of your boost control pipes from the turbo + actuator to the solenoid for leaks as this would cause uncontrolled boost and boost cut. 2. Disconnect the little pipe that you have put in place of the t piece pipes and leave it off, go for a run and monitor your boost, CAUTION during this test drive on a clear road (no cars in front or behind). By leaving the pipe off you will have no boost control if you have a boost gauge fitted get into 3rd gear and go no further than 1 bar if you can, otherwise it will over boost, again you should have no hesitation, judder during this test. 3. Reconnect your 't' piece pipes back to where they were, note when doing this that one of the pipes will have a little restrictor pill (bump) in the pipe, that pipe goes to the turbo outlet side. To reduce the amount of boost you are getting the size of the hole in the above mentioned restrictor can be increased, this will increase the responce time of your solenoid relative to boost pressure at the turbo causing the wastegate to respond/open sooner. The hole should be increased by 0.1mm increments only, until a stable peak boost is achieved. By adjusting the size of the restrictor hole you may get better boost control but ultimately a 3 port type solenoid would be much better @ controlling your boost. Let me know how you get on mate. If you are thinking of getting rid of the RA box + Diff I might be interested You should be able to upload pics as a member or non-member mate, do you have an online photo storage like photobucket? If so all you need to do is copy the whole IMG code under the image and paste it onto the forum writer, otherwise you can copy the http code of the picture into the add image link on the top of the forum writer. Your image http code should look like this: http://i330.photobucket.com/albums/l430/sl...79/DSCN1979.jpg But to get it to show as an image you have to enter it in middle of this command format: Hope this helps Cheers Iain

I am pretty sure Andy (what a guy) has the BBQ meat stuff sorted, I guess all that would be left is snack stuff and mabe the buns for the burgers etc, dont go mad getting stuff I am sure there will be plenty to go round, if we are short of anything on the day we have 2 supermarkets just round the corner so dont panic For those of you who dont have to drive there will be beer flowing too Might be worth bringing a small slab if you want to make a day of it LOL Cheers Iain

Good news about the bonus mate If you have any charcoal laying about that would be usefull also if you are able to get hold of any BBQ foods (burgers/sausages/chicken) that would be great, if you can get/supply any of the BBQ foods let me know mate and we will sort something out as we were going to do a shop for them anyway Cheers Iain
