That is correct for a 2 port but not a 3 port mate as it works in almost the opposite way. In the 2 port system the restrictor creates a pressure drop so that 'correctly said' it takes longer for the wastegate to feel the pressure but it is the effect it has on the amount of air bled away during the duty cycle of the solenoid that alters your boost, the smaller the hole you have the easier it is for the solenoid to dump the servo air and prevent the wastegate from opening which increases boost on the other hand if you make the hole bigger it reduces the efficiency of the solenoid so more pressure is allowed to build up in the wastegate earlier which reduces overall boost output. Also the restictor pill is located in the small pipe between the turbo outlet and the 't' piece. In the 3 port system the restrictor is in the line that returns to your intake pipe (post maf) here it plays a totally different role by reducing the hole size you are allowing more pressure to remain in the system which will be felt at the actuator earlier which reduces boost output then obviously when it is made bigger you allow for a better bleed and less pressure build up allowing for more boost. If the actuator arm adjustment does not bring your boost back up, enlarge the hole by 0.1mm increments until the boost = 1.0 - 1.1 BAR mate, that adjustment is correct for your system. Perhaps mate, take it in a turn at a time probably no more than 2 turns as you only backed it off one, or if that does not work you can adjust the hole out @ 0.1 mm at a time until you get 1.0/1.1 bar. If you are not sure I would be happy to help you set it up, but I am sure you will manage mate Cheers Iain

Hi all Just incase you have not seen the weather forecast yet it is for very heavy snow from tonight then over the next few days, most of the country is forecast to be hit with the South East being hit worst including the Thames Valley area, so if you really, really have to drive to work tomorrow or tonight please be very careful. A smaller restrictor will help reduce the boost again, the Apexi boost controller I have is great as you can set it up to any boost level you want and leave it to sort it own life out If you are popping over for out next meet mate there are a couple of other things that can be done to help with overboost. The boost solenoid will only throw up a code if it fails electrically not if it is clogged, also it fails safe it is more likely to limit boost to wastegate pressure 0.5 BAR, an oil contaminated solenoid and/or boost control pipework will cause hesitant boost control without CEL indication.
