  1. Oh Jesus thats' awful. Wife is angry that i made her watch it. LOL
  2. It's funny, the "best" car I've ever driven, and have been driven in, was a properly prepared MK2 Escort, 2.1 ltr, twin 50's, balanced all Steel pinto, coilovers, seam welded, dash adjustable brake bias, quick shift, quick rack, passenger footrest, buckets, harnesses, LSD, full fire system you name it?. ?..But, it didn?t even have enough BHP to spin a set of 205 Colways on take off? And you could hardly turn the steering wheel at less than 30mph because of the quick rack. However it went into hairpins at 70Mph (braking about 20yards before entry) and could make your eye balls and internal organs hurt on the brakes. We always used Colway remoulds on the Escorts and they did grip more than the tyres we all run on the scoobs, but you know what I'm getting at. Acceleration is good to have but it?s the lesser dealer of G Force and it's the G's that knock the wind out of you and give you that strange happy/fear feeling IMHO. Of course there is an element of ?Rose Coloured Specs? here and lap times make the older cars look slow compared to what we have now. I do however find my ?03 WRX with the spec in my signature quite boring TBH. It could just be that it does what it does so easily, and I suppose that?s a compliment to modern engineering. To good for its own good perhaps? Dunno, would like to hear some other angles on this. Rant over. Thank you for reading. Robbo.
  3. That really is awesome! That'll have peeps laughing in the retirement home "Tam show the nurse yir tatoo" - Timeless. Robbo
  4. Out of interest Andy, do you need to pay road tax for a tractor? And do they need insurance and MOT? Robbo
  5. I really hate people like that. A fast car does not make it any safer either, everyone else on the road panics and hits their brakes which typically traps these idiots on the wrong side of the road. I'd report them to the police, Scooby or not. Although I'd rather just punch them in the face. I sometimes drive like a nutter but only on my own and on a road that I can See is clear. A head-on collision with a mum driving a car full of kids is what people like that should be made to think about. nuff said. Robbo.
  6. BHP is a peak figure and pretty meaningless. Torque through the rev range, big brakes and good handling = fast road car. IMO. Robbo.
  7. Cheers Doug, gimme a shout if you have any more computer nightmares. Robbo.
  8. OMG, Deleted Scene!
  9. My '97 impreza has 100bhp max and your '97 impreza has 300bhp max. Who uses more petrol side by side on a 60min run at 70Mph? A: 100Bhp Car B: 300Bhp Car C: The most efficient car Answers on a postcard.
  10. I'll take a guess why Andy is going back to the Hybrid TD04, it's because the Torque appears earlier. Nothing beats low down grunt for drivability. Big BHP/Torque at 5000RPM don't equal big fun on a B class road. I think the real fun comes from big brake power and going round corners really really fast. But that's just my personal opinion. Robbo.
  11. Rome-Oscar-Bravo-Bravo-Oscar to November-Foxtrot-Tango-Romeo Repeat your last..Repeat your last...all after Hello. Romeo Oscar Bravo Bravo Oscar Out. 12. Aye send it Andy, didn't know you were such a wordsmith mate..fancy writing some proposals for me? lol Robbo
  13. I've posted this on Tec Forum.
  14. Yip mine does the same, although I've only noticed it recently. I wondered if it was anything to do with the cold weather? It wasn't doing it in the summer before or after my andy F remap. I have full up/down mid decat, green panel filter, Tek 3 and standard dump valve. Is this a symptom of overboost I wonder? It does bug me and it's not right, I'd like to see the revs drop quickly on lift off as they should. We should bump this to the tec section. Robbo.
  15. Optimax finder: http://www.shell.com/home/uk-en/html/iwgen...ion_finder.html Robbo
  16. That's one hell of a spec of car mate! Fantastic, hope you enjoy it. Robbo.
  17. Dougs machine needed a Firmware update, I made him a bootable CD with the update on it. Problem now solved. And that's what happens if you buy a Fujitsu-* lappy you need to flash the firmware after you buy it just so it works? Worst brand ever! Robbo.
  18. Al, the H&S one is slip jointed for expansion, it's like one pipe that slides over another and the two can be pulled apart. As far as I know this is the best solution as the flexi joint type will just fail eventually. It's probably the only H&S thing I would recommend as I think they are overpriced. But it's an expensive part to have fitted as it?s a turbo off job and needs to be right. Remember to budget for heat wrapping mate, anyone that tells you different is at it. Robbo. PS: Some ?03 WRX?s had the up pipe studs splayed at the end to stop them coming loose and simply cannot be removed! If you have a ?03 on, it would be worth getting some up pipe studs before you get the job done, just in case or it will cost you ramp time otherwise.
  19. FFS Gumbi - Deleted Scene!
  20. Hi Derek, C&C told me they can make an uppipe and downpipe for the Scoob, I was in there at the weekend getting my H&S backbox customised (as it's the worst fitting exhaust I've ever seen). I would get the up pipe done too mate as it's a big limiting factor when you go to somone like Andy F for a remap. Remember to budget for heat wrapping both pipes; it?s like £100 for a kit from Deamon Tweeks. I had my H&S pipes heat wrapped and fitted by Kenneth Brown in Hillington, hes' well respected in the Scooby game and did a great job on mine. Robbo.
  21. LOL. Funny as Gumbie, my two sons are away out with the wife to bug the neighbours and I'm now also pretending not to be in. I need to be carefull though cos if the wife comes back and I don't answer the door she'll have caught me! I must say the kids here do seem to be in proper attire, witches, goblins etc. You must just live in a Jakey bit of Glasgow Gumbie! No matter, their costumed efforts will on this occasion go un-rewarded as I'm a boring old git! Nae luck kids, on yir way and take yir nosey maw wae ye! Robbo
  22. I was talking to a wee 16 year old guy at C&C today who has spent all sorts of time and money modding his 1.0L Corsa. Why a 1.0L corsa? Because it's all these young guys can get insured for, his insurance cost him £1,200 per year! If it wasn't for insurance costs he would be modding Scoobs and Evos right now, he totally loved my car and understood the Scoob ethos for what it was. The whole "Chav" thing is really more about ?bad taste modding? than bad choice of car to mod, IMO. Today?s Corsa/Nova modifier is tomorrows WRX/Evo modifier. Let?s support the younger generation as they are just like the rest of us ? persecuted by insurance company?s software algorithms. Robbo.
  23. Yup the beer goggles are a dangerous thing, the morning after the first night with the (now) missus she said ?Your not as good looking as I remember!?. Aye, white, bald and ugly, I know my place in the world. I look forward to seeing myself in the bathroom mirror every morning for that ?predictable disappointment?. But.. .. the good news is, that every time the beer goggles go on she once again wants to visit the ?horn of plenty?. (I just need to make sure my goggles are also firmly in place). Edited> I don?t need my goggles sweet heart, just kidding. Robbo.
  24. Those wheels look fantastic mate! The only problem is they are on Ebay, and as we all know Ebay is famous for forgeries, golf clubs are the all time classic, Fishing rods are number two, big brand items (like Nike anything) of any kind are subject to suspicion. It?s interesting that the seller has really good feedback, but if you look at the comments they all relate to service and delivery, not how well the product lasted and performed over time. This is the problem with Ebay you are encouraged to provide feedback as soon as the item arrives, that feedback is not reflective of the items real quality "Trainers that fell apart two weeks later due to some manufacturing defect?. I love ebay and have bought many a thing including a really good hardware CEL fix for my decat exhaust, but beware of paying top dollar for a branded item, there is no such thing as a brand on ebay. Robbo.
