  1. Grooved groan a bit when using them hard, especially when new. Once they've worn a bit they should be all that noisy. Personally, I'd avoid drilled.
  2. What's the exact Model / Year of the car?
  3. What about the handbrake drum? is the inside diameter on the larger bugeye discs the same as a classic?
  4. It was Dyney - http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/showthread.php?t=482538 HTH, Stefan
  5. Wasn't this Dyney over on Scoobynet/22b that had these machined? Other options would be Godspeed brakes in Wales.
  6. AWD gives you good traction, not good grip. You'd have noticed a HUGE difference with skinny snow tyres.
  7. If it's the same P1, I'm pretty sure it was an accident damaged one that he had repaired.
  8. The P1 is one of the locals; can't remember his name off the top of my head. Don't know the blue one, although I have seen it around. There's a red classic with a Prodrive that goes around the village too. What can I say, I set a trend for Impreza's in Cleland and now they all want to follow []
  9. It's a competitive market and there's loads of mail order places that'll do discounts on Whiteline stuff in the UK. It's the customers choice at the end of the day and they have to decide whether to save £20-£40 or support one of the local suppliers. Not sure what you mean by "it would be in your best interest"
  10. Don't see why not, they'll just make money out of the fitting costs. Unless the bolts are stuck fast it shouldn't be a big job to change them - 1hr max should do it. You don't need the geo reset after fitting it IIRC, but getting a decent geo setup at the same time would help.
  11. You should be able to get the ALK for around £110-£115 inc VAT/delivery. You'll pay an hour or so install at a garage, so add £25-£50 on top, unless you can get access to some car ramps and have a bash yourself. £140 is expensive, but they're giving you fitment - it's not entirely FREE, nothing is so you're just paying for it as they can't compete with mail order companies.
  12. And with a criminal record, he'd have his membership revoked
  13. As Dougster says Bumpsteer would make a more noticeable difference than the bushes. I'd recommend top mounts if you don't have them already and a good geometry setup (more camber seems to provide good results on the Impreza). Speak to Job Gevers in Dunfermline as he has the Whiteline UK franchise IIRC.
  14. Bell Direct (just moved to them) A-Plan Keith Michael Elephant Admiral Some of the bigger names are pretty good, but you need a Tracker fitted. A few of my quotes went from over £600 down to £400 when I told them I had a tracker (I don't, but it was just to see the difference). Bell Direct cam out tops when I added my Mum to the policy (50yr old and works for the NHS). Premium dropped almost £200, so just over £400.
  15. cheers m8. were you in a Scoob yourself? haven't noticed any recently, but I'm usually half-a-sleep in the mornings car would be tidier if it was actually clean
  16. That would have been me. Me and the girlfriend work in the same office in the wee business park. Stefan
  17. The unmarked beemer and its flashy comerade are parked up at the Beefeater in Livingston right now.
  18. Sorry Craig, wisnae me
  19. I guess there's just a lot of new Impreza owners who don't know the history. I must admit I'm in two minds whether to wave when it comes to new or older cars. I figure if the cars a few years old they the chances are the will have heard about it. Craig, I've an RB5 but I don't think it was me that blanked you last night (depending on where it was and whether I was daydreaming )
  20. As the old saying goes 'Never underestimate your enemy' Turbo charged Citroen Saxo in Bathgate was very quick. Would've loved a shot in it to see just how good it was.
  21. Just get an STI filter and fit it yourself; takes 5mins. Then when the cars getting serviced just mention to Nobles that you've already changed the filter. The air filter on these cars is not a major disadvantage unless your car is heavily modified. There's been plenty of cars running std panel filters with over 300bhp.
  22. The Prodrive springs used to be made by Eibach, so it's worth finding out exactly what the differences are. Someone like Mike Wood from Prodrive would help I'm sure. Stefan
  23. Thanks
  24. A few questions if you don't mind. Did you just have the camber and toe set? Did they give you a before/after printout showing the margin of error? How long did it all take? Stefan
  25. Warning for anyone using ASDA in Dunfermline to fill up their cars - Diesel put into Unleaded Tank What I don't like about Supermarkets from a drivers POV is everyone moans about us car owners, yet I've heard from farmers that stock grown in Scotland can be sent abroad to be washed and packed, returned to the UK central depot before finalling arriving back in a store just miles from where it was grown. I mean, what a complete waste of fuel and a nightmare for the environment. every little helps ....
