  1. who amongst us hasnt been tempted to sit at the side of the road in a white shirt with a hairdryer and wait for saxos, novas etc [] but to be honest Al the ones that really p s me off are the boring green x reg se spec bmws that you dont give a second glance too and are unmarked cars. or any police 330d estate, o the embarrassement, nabbed by a diesel estate[:$]
  2. hi ,im the regional organiser for up here and ive been asking about wheel repairs in inverness but there isnt anywhere as far as i know. there was a post in the for sale section a while back from blackisler who had a couple of sets of alloys for sale thatd fit you. if your about on the 12th of november theres a run out for the guys up here, have a look in the events section.
  3. welcome to the club, hope you enjoy the bugeye when you get it, see you on the 12th dave
  4. private stretch of road abroad in the middle of the night, the time vs distance backs up the speedo-130 miles in roughly an hour. done it several times without probs but no knock sensor so it may be i just didnt know about them!
  5. like the carbon scoop but id go for a smaller one "I've read that classics suffer from loss of air through the standard scoop at speeds over 120 or so mph, causing huge intake temps and finally ca-boom. " not too convinced about that but i may be wrong,i ran my classics at over 120 for an hour continuosly on several occasions without any probs
  6. like col said you wont find cleaner but you will get cheaper and probably almost as good. i know a guy who worked there when it came in and he said that its mint and the engine was rebuilt properly but that the cars are bought in at good money add the rebuild and his attitude to that and he aint going budge. but once he knows your serious(ie youve bought it) hes ok
  7. i still remember flicking through the pages of top gear magazine back in 94 and seeing an impreza for the first time, saw the scoop and huge foglights and knew i wanted one even though i was only 15. then i started following the adventures of a certain scotsman ( took the afternoon off school to watch him win the title []) and then one of my dads mates bought a brand new one complete with full prodrive interior and one trip in that really sealed it. back then ever7yone thought i was mad wanting a japanese performance car, o how times change! 5 years a mk1 golf and 306 td later i was the proud owner of a brand new my00 in deep blue mica, followed by another and now an05 sti. i really cant imagine having anything else though god knows ive looked!
  8. what make and wheres best for them? theyre for a 98 s type r for a mate, hes just putting it back on the road and noticed that one of the springs is cracked
  9. just stuck a post up in the events section for our november meet, with new improved format [] not sure whats happening in october yet as a few of us arent available but keep watching
  10. he was being a bit over enthusiastic considering he couldnt see me coming and was going purely by the sound of my exhaust. i was tempted to tell him that you can be doing max revs in 1st 2nd and 3rd without breaking the speed limit but i nodded and agreed with him. cant really blame him too much hed probably had idiots in corsas being heroes all day
  11. anyone know who stocks this in the uk? have seen acouple of bits i like on american sites but the shipping costs are terrifying!
  12. 'its a very nice car sir but the rallys in the forest' whilst at the mcrae stages on saturday wouldnt mind but i was actually travelling within the speed limits and driving responsibly but enthusiastically. think it was the fact that he heard me coming for 5 minutes []
  13. im hoping to be there too, depending on how early i get to bed tomorrow [] il keep an eye out for you at craigvenean,il just make for there through the sma glen- start the day by scaring the missus []
  14. good news steve[H] hope they work as well as they look
  15. sneaky barstewards, i know the police in perth used to have an unmarked xj6 and have now got an x reg green 330 se beemer which is very discreet. theyve got a couple of marked jags in inverness just now too.
  16. glad you and Jacqi could make it Gee,always nice to se the wr1 though i did think you were going to lose your hand when you held out the keys to Dale! [] martin, id go for the morettes if your ok with the look of them, and maybe a set of spots for the bumper for full fireworks display. ive got brackets for fitting the spots kicking about in the garage if you want. ive tried fancy bulbs and naughty power ones and you just end up blowing them every week or burning out wiring looms-expensive! though apparently piaa do good bulbs at 80 quid a pair!! hope Hammond pulls through ok,sure hel soon be back razzing up another runway. though unconfirmed reports say he was blown off course at 300 mph by the slipstream of a mica red w reg scooby passing him... your sounding very bright steve, take it you managed to find a bottle of morgans then []
  17. cheers to everyone who came out tonight despite the forecast! once again a good run with fun for all despite what can only be described as a monsoon!good of Rich to come along and join in with the rest of us, hope you all managed to float back safely and werent too weighed down by the food! also hope Jacqi and her lovely type r got home ok, sorry we couldnt be more help! comment of the night to steve- why are we standing in the rain? [um] o and Dale, the brewers fayre rang- you forgot to take your activity book with you! []
  18. cars all clean now, fluids and air present and correct and map and camera stuck in door pocket, thats me all ready for tomorrow night. anyone thinking of coming along, be like nike and just do it! most of us dont bite and wel keep Dale on a lead. wel be at the cinema by tesco about 7,out for a wee run about 7.30-45 then back about half 8 at the snowgoose beside tesco for a bite to eat and anyone who cant make it earlier
  19. i spend my day creating planting environments for trees so id go with it. theres plenty of community trusts that have bought areas of ground for the public and plant trees on them that are always looking for donations- or volunteers to plant them for those of you that way inclined!
  20. hi there nice to have a northern girl on board, yep were your closest meet- theres one tomorrow night so if you set off now [] but keep your eyes on the events section, there may be something more suitable appearing soon [] Dave
  21. great thread guys best moment, so many over the last 6 years but top has to be picking up the keys to the first one, being 21, driving down the road on a blazing hot sunny day with the sunroof open- just a wonderful moment. also waiting nervously in tescos car park to see if anyone else would turn up for the first inverness meet- the feeling when the others started rolling in then the looks from everyone at the line of imprezas was just magic. and beating a local lad in his shiny escort cossie so convincingly he traded it for a scoob the next week [] worst- without a doubt seeing the first one lying dead in a field 3 years later, theres no feeling quite like that moment when you know theres absolutely nothing you can do to stop a big accident. not the end she deserved at all [] funniest- following my mates to the receptioin after their wedding. they were in an open top 30s bentley and as we closed in on them at vmax they looked back at about 300 yards cos they could hear me coming!
  22. the car might be standard but ive heard the drivers modified []
  23. i had bubbles of rust start to show on both my my00's, just above the windscreen seal on the drivers side- seems to be a weak spot on them. burnt your first tank of fuel yet []
