  3. ok as its almost here i thought id put all the important stuff into a nice shiny new thread so everyone can see it! the exact details including a map of the route will be available to all on the day but thisl give you a guide. also still room for any last minute stragglers to join up CAN ANYONE WHO IS DEFINITELY GOING ,AND HASNT ALREADY, EMAIL ME THEIR NAME,A CONTACT NUMBER, AND THEIR CAR DETAILS AT dave222@tiscali.co.uk this is so we can identify everyone, check no ones missing before we leave and check on anyone who goes missing en route DAY 1 190 miles, approx 5 hours driving formation at the vue cinema, inverness from 10 am saturday 1st may for departure 10.45, 11 at the latest. there will be 2 groups, a progressive and a family friendly group both departing at the same time. when you arrive if you wish to be in the progressive group park in the vicinity of my car (blue blob eye sti,L22 DRS) where il try not to hold you up too much..... if your unsure which group you want to run in i would suggest the family one as the pace will still be spirited and you can change to the progressive at the lunch break if you wish lunch break will be approx 12.30 for an hour, ive been emailed a copy of the bar menu which il paste below and if people can let me know what they fancy itl save a bit of time and save on 'sorry were out of that' syndrome we should arrive at ullapool approximately 6pm, dinner is booked for 7pm at the royal hotel Ullapool where most of us are staying the rest of the night shall pass in a blur of food, beer and banter DAY 2 135 miles, approx 3 hrs 15 mins driving departing ullapool royal hotel approx 11-11.30am to allow room for the night before to pass.... lunch break approx 1pm return to inverness around 2.30-3pm to vue car park again for a bit of farewell banter FUEL the shell garage at the raigmore interchange is the last v power stop and with the number of cars going expect saturday morning to be busy!!! i have confirmed with the filling station in ullapool that they have 98 ron fuel and they know we're coming in force so to have stocks in, if you want to take a jerrycan, fuel bowser or octane booster order now!
  4. aye he's a big lad so he needs a BIG turbo
  5. the last year i ran an impreza as my daily driver i did 25k miles plus and i worked out it cost me over £7500 in fuel..... or more than half my wages which is why its a weekend car now,and this weekend it cost me about 40 quid to go from perth to edinburgh, round the town and back to perth... but on the plus side i did get to own a new focus rs,makes it all worthwhile lol and to be honest driven hard my 306 rallye isnt much better on fuel- performance or economy you pays your money....
  6. anyone heard of this company, theyve a few scoobs advertised on pistonheads at very cheap prices and as the saying goes if its too good to be true it usually is....
  7. yea ive got one that my other half got me off ebay lol
  8. think il give the hotel a ring, one french maids outfit will be waiting.....
  9. och thatl bring a tear to his eye, nothing like the word refund to light up an aberdonian fermer
  10. not done only kidding, all done
  11. thatd be the thumpy hole you heard then! jeez we'l need iron wheels soon.... and thats definitely the last time i try doing a run in a diesel, phaw!
  12. going by your post i take it youve no ppp? in which case i would say as above,go to meercat (think fai17 was talking of a group buy there?) or c and c for a sports cat downpipe then straight through system built to your own noise level, green panel filter, walbro 255 fuel pump, silicon boost hose set(optional for peace of mind) and a trip to andy f for an ecutek remap to your existing ecu. id say you d do that for 1000 and see a noticeable difference in both thump and driveability(much less gear changing) and no difference to noise if you so wish believe me the only downside to how tuneable these things are is how much money they can drain!
  13. yea he's a top bloke-comes when he says he will which is handy..... also his sons rather talented on 2 wheels, check out kev coghlan's success in the spanish championship last year
  14. Glyn that is THE most pathetic attempt at justifying a mod ever - well of course i didnt want a strut brace dear, but i had to get it for the windscreen..... i got a chip repaired within 3 weeks of getting the sti then had it replaced just before the mcrae gathering as it was so pitted i couldnt see through it in the wet or dark! after a horrendous experience with autoglass (4 attempts to fit one screen) i use Tayglaze really nice guy who does it all on his own so you know exactly what job your geting, quite important on a 3 month old full spec X5 -600 quid foe a screen eek!
  15. ive heard a wee rumour hes planning something unique hes never tried before......... thats right, driving it!!!!!!!
  16. my god!!! its real and it lives!!!! was it scared at feeling tarmac under its wheels again min? shes looking grand, bagsy a pax, though i dont fancy your eardrums by the time we get to ullapool.... think discs would be eiher godspeed or AS performance
  17. ha, been there and had the tshirt- used to have tsw wheels on a 306,looked like a 50p within 2 weeks.... but the rays are fine, mine are from their motorsport range and the OZ superleggera's i had on my classic were the same, very light and very strong -til i hit a brick straight on at full chat in 2nd.....
  18. not sure but my rays are 8.5x18 and weigh 7.6kgs i think and are a lot lighter than the standard 17's
