Just measured those on the screen Dave and they're only 150mm! Even my mildly uprated black diamond jobbies are nearly twice that size mate!

Think I saw one the other day but didn't realise it was one of those. Sure it was that colour though. Doesn't really look anything fancy to be honest. Still, it looks better than than pink one going round!

As I've said before as well, they seem quick to proclaim these new speed limits and that they will reduce the accident rate but I haven't heard exactly HOW they think these will actually make a difference here in the world of reality instead of their ideas which seem to be based on a perfect world and theory alone....

<< hmmm, it has started then Have almost hit the 2000 mark on the petition but it has really slowed down over the last week or so >> Dude - you might have already done this but in case you haven't, it'd be worth emailing the bike magazines (Performance Bike, Streetfighters, BSH, RIDE etc) to let them know about this & see if they could run a small article being as how I'm sure most of the readerships of all these mags would be more than happy to sign up. Could make a big difference and demonstrate to the government just how unpopular this would be with the tourists. Just a thought in case you haven't already thought of this!

As an afterthought I wouldn?t be at all surprised if imposing limits actually causes the accident rates to go up. Sound stupid you think? I suspect that if limits like that are imposed then the sensible safe drivers who generally abide by the law will continue to do so and occasionally get done for doing say 80 or 90. The more dangerous/reckless drivers though who generally don?t hold any regard for other road users will continue to go as fast as they do now, the difference being is that they?ll avoid the main roads where there will be more cameras/speed traps, and will instead drive like nutters on twisty little backroads which are much more unsuitable for driving fast. They WILL continue to do it I?m sure, so where will there be more accidents? A nice open road like the mountain road, or a little country road with hedges so you can?t see what?s coming, worse surfaces, muck on the roads from farms, and potentially a horse or herd of cattle around each corner? I know which I would rather go quickly on & be less likely to have an accident!

Just came on for a rant about this and there's already a thread here! Grrr, tests for older cars too. Mine's 15 years old but everything works well on it & it's a safe vehicle but I'm sure they'd still find picky things to fail it on. When will they realise it's not so much the older vehicles or high speed necessarily that are more prone to accidents, it's just people who drive cars badly/dangerously full stop. I wonder what those fatality statistics would look like over ten years if you take away figures for two weeks in June each year when people (largely visitors) pretty much get away with driving/riding how they like, ergo the local population get penalised for the bad driving of others largely.

Nah, it wasn't sweet! No fish really about, a bit too choppy and at one point I thought to my horror the outboard was misbehaving but it turned out to be nothing thankfully. Was still nice to get out though and Joel seemed to enjoy the burning around factor. Just not the sitting on the sea bobbing about factor.
