Wondered when you'd get on here dude! Hope those calipers do the job matey. []
-
Didn't realise you were having your motor out too Nick dude! [] Give us a shout if you chaps need a hand at all.
-
All looking very gucci there Dave. [] My garage is almost ready for getting the nissan in and whipping the motor out, then once that's done the leggy engine is coming out and all being well getting a rebuild with nice forged bits. []
-
Will have to keep hold of mine then if them's the new rules! I use about £150 a month.
-
Oops! Sorry Richard - shows how often I am out that way![:$] Total card is like a credit card for the forecourt. I can fill up the car and get stuff (beer/magazines!) from the shop for the month then the bill just comes out of my bank account just after payday. By far the most useful card I've ever had - couldn't manage without it. You have to pay the full balance each month too so no risk of running up a big debt and no interest to pay.
-
Providing they have been rebuilt ok then they should be just the ticket for no more tappet noise anyway! Presume you mean the wiseco & eagle pistons/rods on Ebay? That's what I was planning on getting once I have a bit more dosh as they're uber cheap compared with uk buying. What year does phase 1 go up to and is there really enough height difference between piston versions to affect the CR by a noticeable amount?
-
I'm confused now - I thought you were a shell garage dude?!! I only get my juice from Total garages at the moment because using my account isn't like paying with 'real money' and I can still fill up when I'm broke at the end of the month, but if I can still use my Total card and get the good stuff from shell with it, it's a win win situation!! So the important questions then are - where's all our shell garages and when do they all get the decent juice? []
-
I've got a total account card too. Does that mean I can get proper octane fuel with it from a shell garage at last or have I got the wrong end of the stick somehow? Seems odd that you could use a total card at a shell garage but great if I can do!!

Ace - cheers. Yes that's the plan once I've got forged bits inside the block. Not sure whether to get an 18g or 20g yet as they cost the same. Wondering if the 18g is more suitable for mine as I'll be keeping it as a 2L but I haven't got the money for the forged stuff or turbo for a while anyway so plenty of time to think....

Yes I am Andrew. The boost is down to 1 bar now and it's beginning to slip slightly at that but I'm still astonished just how long it is surviving! If you still have those ones of yours I may well be interested. As I said I've just bought a pair of heads to get rid of tappet noise but I need to get some more dosh together for getting the forged bits for the car. I'm moving house on Friday and will have a garage so first job will be engine out of the Nissan to get the oil leak fixed then the scoob will be having its motor out for a rebuild, although that might be more around feb/march. With a bit of luck if my bonus is enough I'll get myself a nice upgrade from my 16g to an 18g or even 20g too..... [][] Yes Dean will do a nice quality job I can vouch for stuff he's done for me & Glyn before. Might take a while though! [][]

Bah - I just bought the same set a few weeks ago for £30. All looking like good (and very thorough) progress dude. I've just bought a pair of reconditioned STi heads (1996 V4 - is that the same as yours?) for the legacy. They look like they've been painted or acid dipped or something and have had 12 new valves installed. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...p;rd=1&rd=1 When funds permit I'll be following up with forged pistons & rods, a clutch and light flywheel. Might be a wee bit yet though.....
-
Pity it's so bloody long since I've even looked at a map though!!!
-
Very pleased with my AGXs dude especially considering they are pretty cheap! Think mine cost about 360 for the set inc postage from the US Yes, it certainly is an unholy amount of crap in there! It's mainly in the top though from filth that's come out of the breathers and stayed at the top. Wasn't anywhere near as nasty in the sump. Not planning a full rebuild though - I just want to whip the engine out, clean up the bay & paint bits if needed and fix the oil leak. Engine does actually run really nice, and no knock at all now, just it leaks. []
-
Oh pants, that's not good. [] They must be one of the worst engines to change big ends on. The nissan was enough of a ballache but that was only because it was hard to remove & refit the sump.
-
I was hoping so dude - it runs sweet as a nut now but oil dripping out from the front of the bellhousing which must be either sump or rear crank seal. The guy said it had an oil leak but it wasn't leaking when I bought it - probably because the oil was more like sludge and too thick to leak. Check these pics - it's no wonder the big ends were toast with an engine full of sh1t like this!!!! Before: After: Poor thing looks like the last owner hadn't change the oil ever! Shocking stuff.
-
Bugger. What is the actual problem it's coming out for?
-
Looking blingy as ever you big tart! Very nice.
-
Cheers dude - think I'm just going to my mate's for drinks tonight with some pals. Cleaned tons of oily gritty crap out of the S13 cam covers today and out of its blocked breathers!!! Still leaks oil though so will be engine out relatively soon [] Got some new adjustable struts with lowered springs for it today though.
-
Cheers matey! What's up with yours mate? That's a bummer you've got to do that. If you want a hand I'd be very happy to help out mate with tools or just a pair of hands or whatever. Not got masses planned this weekend aside from some work on the S13, some drinking and a meal at Ma D's on Sunday so if I can help out just give me a buzz dude. []
-
Thanks dude.[] Been sorting out life assurance for mortgage on new house today - can't wait to get moved so I have space to work on the cars and a garage at last! []
-
Evening dudes! Ace - early weekend for me now. It's my 32nd on Sunday so I thought I'd have friday & monday off to chill. Can't even do any work on the Leggy or the S13 either so hopefully I'll have to take it easy. []
-
Sorry dude - I was going to say the other day when I saw you but I think I will be buying either a 3 or 4 pod one for now.

Not sure about headers as mine are only std (spare set due to be ported) but I was amazed at the build quality of the megan backbox I bought some time ago. I was expecting it to be pretty crap due to how cheap it was but the welds were perfect and it has been superb since I've had it. Not sure why headers need to have a flexi section when standard cast ones don't but perhaps someone can enlightne me on this. Not contradicting, just curious...

They are strict over her but why shouldn't they be Andi? It is for everyone's safety after all, and as we do not have a test every year you would expect that they are more strict when they have to test something as they may not see the vehicle again. Lots of people over here call them tossers because they say there are faults with cars/bikes but they are only doing what they are told to do. Once the faults are fixed they pass the cars so even thought they might seem petty and a pain in the hoop they might potentially save your (or someone else's) life. Anyway - how you doing mate? [] My in car PC is nearly finished now.....[]

I hope if there was extra cost involved that 'Bazza' had to pay it for not doing the work right.....
