The TD05 is a very hardy turbo and will take most abuse thrown at it. So much so it will run fine at high boost without a dump valve. Also they are cheap and easy to service. Ultimate power would be about 350bhp but only on an 'ideally perfect' setup. 330/340 is more usual. The VF34 is a ball bearing turbo very similar to power figures of the VF35 but with slightly quicker spool. I wouldn't say much more than about 370bhp out of this. It really depends on costs and how much you are willing to pay and also have you any other plans to go more power in the future. Looking forward a TD05-16g (which is what the standard TD05 is) can be converted into either an 18g or 20g. One thing to make sure is that your car will need a front entry TD05 as they were top entry as standard fit on the early cars. Hope that goes someway to helping you. Stuart

Defo a coil pack. Been there done that. Not cheap for 4 but worth doing considering the age of these cars now. Budget £250 for all four. Shouldn't take more than 30 mins to change them all.

It ain't daft!! Phase 1 is all classics up to 1996 Phase 1.5 is all classics from 97-98 Phase 2 is all classics from 99-00 The reason there is a phase 1.5 was that there were only minor changes from phase 1 unlike the major changes brought in for phase 2.

this sti 7/8/9 tmic doesn't fit the earlier phase 1 and 1.5 cars only the phase 2 cars

Nah i dont think it matters. Just if it a newage classic etc for info. It is your problem if you are stupid enough to put a 6 speed in a classic etc and again a 2.5 against a 2.0 doesn't always mean it will be quicker. I reckon we should just say classic, newage and leave it at that. Who is with me?

How did Kenny got on? Think he did a 12.8 but he hasn't done crail before so time and practice will make his times drop. I agree the amount of money crail generates you think they could at least invest in two sets of timing gear and get the place sorted a bit. LOL not often you see two white cars together eh. nearly perfect. no sun with temps that were ok for the time of year. no rain with dry warm ground. The only thing that ruined the day was that the timing gear kept screwing up and the left lane wasn't working at all meaning not many runs were actually done or timed. I was hoping to go slightly quicker too!
