Who can do Remapping on a Jap STi to use UK Fuel
dave_morgan replied to SCOOBYD00's topic in Scottish Scoobies
You shouldn't loose power with a remap, no. Just have a safer car. Depending on the map you get, you could increase power. I have no idea what options are available for the sti3 though - sorry. Of course if you stop using booster, then the fuel will have less calorific value so you'll potenentially loose something, but not much and well worth it to avoid a big bang !! Get a knocklink first though, so at least you know what the engine is doing! HTH, Dave -
Thanks to Scott, Rosie, Gerry and the rest of the guys at Dastek. Top day and good to catch up with you all again. Happy to see the P1 putting out what it should too, so I'm happy.

<< OK - Thats everyone had a I touch goats to remind them (except Kartman, Hybrid Turbo, Corsa & Sarahbee) >> What did we do !!!???!!! Yes, I am still up for a set (2 in fact), I just didn't realise they were ready to go. I didn't realise anything had happened as I kinda lost track of which thread contained the latest news!! Anyway, form is printed and I'll try and get the cehque off later today. Dave -
<< Didnt know you drank mate >> I don't really, but occasionally I'll nip in to a pub for half a shandy
-
Just a note to confirm I'll be there Scott. Just typed a text reply, then pressed the wrong button and cleared it, so thought I'd post here instead! Ideally don't put me too near the start, as I'll probably be hungover !!!

<< Kartman nice 2 speak 2 u at the end, i was the passenger in the blk type R with Miss Scooby STI (not little miss wrx) & we enjoyed the run round the track with u. Had a quick look at the vid footage we took & the bit filming u in the wing mirror looks quite good bit shakey though. Once i get a chance 2 sort it out i'll send it 2 u. >> Apologies for the 'miss' type, how embarrasing !! I'll fix it now... !!!! Good to speak to you to mate - look forward to battling with the WR1 one day !! Dave p.s.Did I mention how much I enjoyed the day ??
-
Yeah, and now I know why my bumper's all blistered !!!! You owe me 2 smirnoff ices a breezer and a baileys bomber !!!
-
<< Do you have an ECU remap? >> Nope, completely standard. << I wouldn't mind a pax lap next time your on track, if you don't mind!? >> No problem, I'll be at the next one I can get into !! Dave
-
p.s. Does anyone else get sore knees ??? My left knee is aching from being jammed against the centre console for so long !!!!
-
<< Erm I was the wagon who span off in front of you I think, was it green. >> I did suspect it had something to do with the elise that was having the grassy excursion !!! << Also you could see the 6 pots were working well. When you past me the braking into Duffus was visibly better by a mile >> They are amazing. Even braking where I was, was still a lot earlier than I needed to. I was always trying them early - just in case, as I couldnt believe they were holding up so well. I always dabbed, came up, and then planted again a little later. Best track mod you can buy IMHO. I think I forgot to say earlier. Huge thanks to John and SIDC for a perfectly organised and run event. Dave

You should definitely get one. All it takes is one bad tank of fuel, and could could end up with a 3-4k engine bill !! I've been there and the £130 is pennies compared to the alternative! As Phil says, you SHOULD be ok, but I got a bad tank on Sunday night and the knocklink was blinking away like a barsteward! One extra slug of booster, and all was well again. The sti 5 (what my p1 is roughly based on) seems more badly affected than others, but it's money well spent on any scoob IMHO. Fairly easy DIY job too. Allow one to two hours probably. Don't let it put you off the scoob though, it just gives you peace of mind that you can thrash away and know that all's well under the bonnet. Dave
-
Cool dawg!! He's welcome to some pax laps in the P1 at the next track day !!
-
Ignore the question about the pic - I've worked it out. It's after the hairpin. The bit of unused track down to the right confused me !!
-
Absolutely superb day!!!! Had quite a few track days before, but enjoyed Saturday the most by a long shot. Most of that I can put down to AP 6 pots - they're awesome !!! No fade whatsover, and only a slight spongy feel after a LOT of laps. Still stopped fine though, just not as firm a feel as when cold. Down to the fluid more than the brakes I guess. I've never been able to stay out for more than 8 or maybe 10 laps before, but I was out for a full 30 mins at the end, and all was still well !! (except for the tyres going off slightly). Big thanks to all the cars who span in front of me too - the entertainment value was great. Always a little sphincter twitching when it happens, as you don't know which way the spinning car is going to go, but no harm done in any of them, so big smiles all round. I think there was a couple of elises, a scoob wagon, a 350z and a lotus 7 type car!! Apologies if I was the cause of you pushing that bit too much !! Congrats to Evo John for hanging onto his car through a few twitchy moments too - not sure if I'd be keeping that geometry setting mate !!! Only negative parts of the whole day was me getting there late due to Bridge traffic (a car broke down ON the bridge right in front of me), and fuel surge at the hair pin !! I should know better and should have taken a couple of gerry cans, but once I got to half a talk, virtually every lap I got fuel starvation as I accelerated out. VERY frustrating when you're lining up to overtake on the straight!!!! Apologies to anyone who pulled over to let me pass to find I wasn't on your tail anymore !! That's why ! Nice to meet...... : Don (350Z) - Nice driving until.... you know what - Welcome to a pax lap anytime mate ! Miss Scooby STI - Also very nice driving. Especially enjoyed going side by side round clark !! ... You should be racing girl !! Gavin (integra type R) - BUY THE STI - YOU KNOW YOU WANT TO !!!!!! . Call Forbes at the stable bar, tell him Dave sent you and offer him £10,500. You will NOT regret it ! -Stable Bar : 0131 664 0773. If he's not there get in touch and I'll dig out his mobile number. Dougie549 - thanks for the pics - nice camera work To answer the previous threads, the car is bog standard, except for the AP's. It's even got the cats and paper filter in it!! In fact even the tyres are the original supplied ones !! They are kinda semi slicks mind you !!!! My list of mods is quite impressive, but they're all still sitting in the garage !! Full scoobysport system, sti panel filter (was fitted, but took it out for the recent service), defis, sti rear lights, intercooller splitter and 19's. I should just take a couple of days off work and fit them all I know, but other things always seem to need done! Anyway, I've waffled enough and can't put off work any longer!!! One question though - can anyone work out where this pic was taken from - I can't work it out at all !!! : http://chris-ross.fotopic.net/p8534534.html [edit to change Miss Scooby STI's name - apologies for getting that one wrong my friend ]

Nice pics mate, good job !! Pretty cool camera too, it even made my car look clean !!! Cheers Dave (the P1 with the wheels lying all around it !)

Reserve list for Knockhill on Saturday
dave_morgan replied to dave_morgan's topic in Scottish Scoobies
I was third, John told me about one dropping out, then I heard another had dropped too. I'm probably still on the reserve list, but might come up anyway in case anyone drops on the day. Dave -
Anybody heard what the latest status is on the reserve list for KNockhill on Saturday. I think I'm 1st or 2nd but haven't heard anything official for a while. JohnS ??? Dave
