  1. Defo does. Turning into Scoobynet in here. Just to add, standard ECU's are great things.
  2. I've seen it a few times Ken. I like the car, but don't like the stickers, as they are really c**p ones. Totally wrong colour and if you see the big swoosh sticker on the rear bootlid, it's been put on by Stevie Wonder. It's swooshing near enough, straight into the ground. lol
  3. Likewise. Ain't life great Paul. []
  4. Quite funny this appears just now actually. I only found out yesterday, it's a company down the road from me. Had a P1 sitting outside the place with damage and i figured they were repairing it for selling on, but the half boss type guy, told me father, they are doing the work for them......supposedly.
  5. Can't see how a decat up-pipe would make the car need a remap, on a 2001 UK WRX. Do it all in one and enjoy the benefits....just so long as you do the CEL fix.
  6. Andy's right, but it then puts strain on the internals a bit, as the crank, flywheel and crank pulley, are all balanced accordingly. By changing the weight at one side, your off putting the balance. You could then say, i'll fit a lightened flywheel, but to get back to the harmonic balance, the 3 lots, should again all be balanced. It's a dodgy subject somewhat, but for all you'll gain, i'd leave it alone. The more force, the more torque. [] Besides, there's actually a damper in the OE crank pulley, the aftermarket ones...there isn't, this again puts pressure on the engine. Remember, i'm saying it's minimal and i doubt you'd do any damage, or have any problems, but you did ask. []
  7. I think he's laughing, because it's just SO obvious where everyone would go to. No-one actually said outright, go to Dastek.....which is quite amusing, not because there's no reason for it, but because Andy is so the right guy to go to. Pointless question in the first place IYSWIM. []
  8. Dunno if this is allowed, but here's a link to let peeps know my car is for sale. [] http://forums.sidc.co.uk/forums/673980/ShowPost.aspx
  9. I agree, it is a mad thing to do, sell it once it's finished, but some people just like carrying on and moving onto something else. I know i will be putting mine up for sale now, purely as i have debt, which i'd like to be rid of. I don't know what the car is capable of, but i'm certain it's a lot more than most people can deal with and maybe Callum is thinking, that now he's done it and got it out of his system, he'd like to sell "while the iron is hot". It's a well known car now and i dare say a few peeps may well jump at the chance to buy it now, rather than later on. Good luck to you Callum, in whatever happens. [H]
  10. []
  11. I'd have thought Roger Clark Motorsport would have had the APS kit in stock??? www.rogerclarkmotorsport.co.uk
  12. It's got more torque than the P1, but not much more. Remember the P1 is a tarted up/dulled down Type-R.
  13. Lol, they ain't that much different Andy! []
  14. I think your main concern as in mods, with the 2.5, will be the intercooler . IMHO i would have changed it before now, for using the car the way you do. I know top mount is great for added spool, but a good mapper should be able minimise the lag due to a front mount. Wouldn't worry much about the zorst, as it won't be holding you back too much, that it can't be done later on. Maybe get some largerinjectors too though. Certainly you should be getting a good air filter, but as you don't have a MAF to worry about, that's on your side! []
  15. You mean the rubber strip along the top and edge of the inner arch? Na, you can remove that without any problems. I'm considering rolling my arches a touch, as the tyres seem to be rubbing....very strange. [:S]
  16. Peter, you sure about that spool time?! [] Gotcha Alex! Indeed you may as well consider the 2.5, as a rebuild defo CAN cost the same, on the 2 litre. I'm on the PFC, but if your still on the GEMS, it might be worth having a wee chat to AlanG about that area, as he's been runing his 2.5 for some time now and has changed his mind a bit in regards to ECU's. Obviously i have a couple things that may very well help spool, but myself coming from the RA which is general, like lightening when it spools, this is really not that much difference. I've been only running 0.5 bar till it's fully mapped and it's amazing how quick it builds up. Depends on cams/heads(which you don't have to worry about) and headers, after the turbo, but apart from that, it isn't a slow spooler at all. I'm running Tomei 740's, GT Spec headers, APS Cold Air Kit with custom Samco intake, APS front mount, STi5 ported heads/cams, Revolution 3 inch zorst and of course the 20G and it's expected to make an easy 350/350, repeat AN EASY 350/350. All on plain Optimax and 1.3 bar. Figures don't speak how nice a car to drive it is though. Just so you know, if in the future you had to rebuild the 2.5, remember pistons and rods etc are pretty much the same price as 2 or 2.2 litre stuff, so it isn't exactly an expensive unit. Only downfall is you don't have a high redline, but most peeps i talk to, say they don't take the revs to the top before a gear change anyway.
  17. You've got a PM VIA Scoobynet, Mctwist. []
  18. My words may not be up to much, if it is the brand new scoob your thinking about, but it will show the way it can spool up, if the same mods are used...
  19. Edited this post, as i see your actually thinking of sellin the STi and getting the new scoob! LOL [] No-one's tried the new 2.5 heads/cams yet, so we can't comment much on that side of things, but i dare say it'll be running the usual 0.9 bar or there-abouts. Had a test drive yet? I doubt they'll have made very many gains out the motor, over the old 2 litre. Not a significant gain anyways.
  20. Hey up Za! Going for 2.5, tis a nice motor, but i'd consider a larger turbo tbh. 20G on this one i have at the mo, is more than capable and is more robust than the equivilent VF turbo. The spool is surprisingly quick and makes for a very capable car. Mine will be hopefully fully mapped by the end of next weekend, so if you want, we can meet up and you can see what it's like? I think it'll sway your mind. []
  21. I myself would say it's a version 5, but i HAVE seen STi version 6's that are T registrations or made in 1999. In general, Ian is correct, it should be only STi's that are classed as versions, but i thought i'd expand it a little. []
  22. I might have gone, if it was a Sunday mornin and that far away.[8-)]
  23. How hot was the car? My guess is your idle control valve needs cleaned out.
  24. You'll need to source the correct caliper/stub bolts and maybe get some wheel spacers. Apart from that, it's a straight fit.
