  1. thanks for all your input. I have now been speaking to mappers and for the sort of power delivery I am after, I will be fitting a second decat, and will have it mapped. I will hopefully have it all sorted in 4-6weeks.
  2. IMHO, no, it shouldn't devalue it as long as it is done well and using quality and proven items. look at it this way.....you buy a Veyron and spend anther £200k on performance mods fitted by a top Veyron tuner, is it really going to devalue it? I think it will make it more desirable. if, however you spend £200 at halfrauds and cover it in chav gear, then it will probably make it worth less (and the owner would be locked up) if you went to buy, say, a 22b and it had £20k worth of performance engine and handling mods fitted and tuned by, say, Prodrive for example, with receipts, would you want it? if the same car claimed £500bhp on the original engine with no receipts and fitted by honest bob's back street shed, covered in cheap, badly fitted rally graphics would you want it? can of worms
  3. well, I now have the cobra box fitted to my existing un-resonated centre pipe and I now have the sound I was after. a nice deep burble but not boomy on the motorway and the 4.5" slash cut tailpipe looks great. next I will do the 2nd decat but leave the downpipe cat in place. do I really need to use a sports cat downpipe to get it remapped or can I do it on the original cat? the reason I ask is that I have had no end of trouble getting other cars through the mot with a sports cat fitted and I don't want to go through that every mot time.
  4. cheers Rich, they are great but they are too expensive for me and I have already ordered the cobra.
  5. thanks for the comments and offers (if only you posted last night Lewis) I was having a scan around youtube last night and I really like the sound from the cobra cat back. a guy around the corner has the track day friendly cobra but it isn't that much different to my prodrive so today I ordered a cobra straight through back box to go with my un-resonated centre pipe and I will fit the second decat pipe if I feel it needs to be a bit louder. I will let you know what it is like when I have fitted it.
  6. I will be buying a 2nd decat pipe this week and I've been looking at back boxes to replace the prodrive box. I have narrowed it down to the following: ninja 2 afterburner vortex scoobysport cobra sport. does anyone have any experience of these boxes and which one would you recommend? (I am after a nice deep burble that is not too loud on tickover (don't want to upset the neighbours) but gives a nice growl on the road)
  7. I have a SS un-resonated centre pipe and a prodrive back box on my 2007 hawkeye wrx. my question is: i have been told that i can safely fit a decat pipe to replace the second cat without having a remap. is this true? (i will eventually be getting a sports cat downpipe and a remap but funds are only allowing me to do a bit at a time) also, i want to replace the prodrive box with something louder with deeper note to it but don't want a dustbin sized tailpipe that sits too low from the bumper. any recommendations?
  8. I was reading somewhere (I'll try and find the article) that was talking about the SS unequal headers and saying they tend to have much less of the burble at tickover and sound like a superbike at higher revs, more like equal length. if I find it, I'll send you the link.
  9. Matt, I heard that you liked muffin the Mule until you found out it was illegal! lol
  10. hey, I've been married for years........what do you expect? lol
  11. I know it's the 7 sisters but there is a proper name...Pleiadus or something like that.
  12. another thing that springs to mind happened about 10 years ago. I was road rallying (opel manta gte, mild tune, caged etc but most of the work and money was on the handling set up) and on one Saturday night road rally (I think it was the Bullnose rally of Newbury) we came across a group of cruisers who thought we were just on a pleasure drive lol. a few tried race us......(you can imaging the scene....50 odd road rally cars of all varieties and the odd neon clad corsas, saxos etc belting out drum and base tunes, tanking it down the country lanes) well, one gave a good fight for 2 miles until he couldn't make a 90 left and ended up going straight on, through a farmers field gate, taking it clean off the hinges and ending up like a DJ stage at a rave in the middle of the field. oh, how we laughed, it was the subject of conversation for weeks.
  13. and no rude photos either Matty (or are those images just in my head?)
  14. I remember the time before Max power when it was CCC and the like with serious engine mods and sensible wheels etc....it was all about the engineering and engine transplants etc. I was driving a Mk2 escort with a few subtle engine mods that must have produces all of 80bhp lol I actually bought the 1st issue of max power but it was all neon's, dimma bodykits and ice but still had decently tuned engines. fast forward 10 years and I had a flick through another copy to find 1.0ltr novas with 10 exhausts and covered with every halfrauds stick on part (£500 for the car and £5k for the mods that have added 100kg to the weight) . yeah, times have changed but at least we (on here) are far removed from the now corsa brigade.
  15. ok, so this might be cheating a bit.....
  16. Hi and welcome. as above....where are you from and have you got any pics?
  17. also, if you have sagging you can heat the leather with a hairdryer and it will shrink back to original. there are lots of videos on YouTube showing how to do it properly.
  18. I think you will get this from getting the corner weights set up correctly.
