  1. I have a 2.5 Hawk with PPP front sports cat and PPP rear box and have just replaced the resonated centre section with a Scoobyworld supplied Afterburner pipe with an integrated performance silencer. For me, this upgrade is ideal - it provides a moderate, purposeful increased exhaust note without in car intrusion. Should also give a bit more BHP. A couple of years ago, I fitted a Hayward & Scott straight through centre pipe, but the resultant drone was unacceptable and I reverted to the OEM section. For me, the new configuration is ideal - unless you are looking for loud! John
  2. As above, I'm flexible on dates. Perhaps Chris Carlton could suggest a date? John
  3. I would go for grooved only and so avoid risk of discs cracking...
  4. I found standard Brembo set up on my previous widetrack 2.0 STi type UK PPP perfectly adequate for normal fast road driving, but Goodrich s/steel braided hoses definitely improved things. For the STi and current 2.5 WRX PPP, have been pleased with Pipercross replacement panel filters.
  5. The few times during the years when I have had no option but to use 95, including last week, a dose of Millers octane booster appears to work very well...
  6. I'm running the fronts with Godspeed two piece 335mm grooved discs/big Brembo 4 pot calipers/Ferodo DS2500s and at the rear, DBA 74320 discs/standard calipers/EBC red stuff ceramic pads. Goodrich braided hoses. Works for me - huge improvement compared with OEM kit!
  7. I believe that petrol stations should give us special treatment. Averaging not much more than 20 mpg and buying super unleaded, we are their best customers!!!
  8. I'm located in rural East Hertfordshire and sadly, Imprezas are becoming a rarity in this area. With regard to within the M25, is it the massive cost of insurance or do the uninformed all now drive BMWs or Audis? Still, it's good to drive something different that can see off most of the opposition!!
  9. Have had Forge VTA BOVs on last and current Impreza. Not too loud - perfect for me! Unless I'm mistaken, won't get any noise from a recirculating BOV (do Forge make one?).
  10. One of my best cars ever was an Escort Mk1 RS2000 (no. 25 from AVO) with Janspeed exhaust manifold & full extractor system...
  11. Perfect shopping car!! Thought I had some of the biggest brakes around, but those 360s look fantastic.
  12. 1. Braveheart - Classic - 2.35 - 641bhp 600 lbs/ft 2. Wrx Kenny - bugeye - 2.5 - 311bhp 365 lbs/ft 3. badbaz - best looking one - only 2.0 - enough 4. adz-wrx - blobeye wrx - 2.0 - 235bhpish and no idea lol 5. highlandflyer blob wrx 2.0 ppp 265bhp 257lbft 6. Paul555sti - blobeye sti 2.0 355bhp 350lbs/ft ( best looking and best colour baz ) 7. joshuajames - hawkeye 2.5 PPP - 270bhp (estimate with limited mods), 310 lbs/ft
  13. The dent and scratch man did everything in preparing the front calipers(but they weren't badlly in need of refurb). The back discs/hubs were brand new - I simply cleaned off with white spirit prior to painting!
  14. Just a thought, but 6 months ago I bought heat resistant brake caliper paint from louisa 2033 on eBay for £7.50 and asked local dent & scratch man to prepare and paint my Godspeed supplied Brembos while refurbing my PFF7s. Perfect result for little cost and having treated the calipers with Rim Wax, still "as new". Also used same paint (black) for new DBA rear discs 12 months ago and again, still looking great - and these were hand painted by me! Available in all colours and also bought proper Brembo decal stickers from www.supergraphics.co.uk
  15. A couple of years ago, my Forge VTA suddenly started blowing off gently most of the time. Turned out to be a broken spring, which was replaced FOC by Forge - great people to deal with... John
  16. Thanks for that Arch! And I have been recommended to use Millers gearbox & diff oils at next service.
  17. Agree with earlier comment. Previous classic turbo, RB5, and 2006 STi difficult when very cold. Oddly, current hawkeye isn't!
  18. We have two cars, a WRX PPP and an Accord 2.4ivtec. Both attract £260 road tax, even though both cover only about 4,000 miles per year. WRX has recently hit a deep pothole and nearside front has serious need of camber adjustment. Here in east Herts, they simply dollop a shovel full of dry black stuff into the hole and it's gone within a few days. What the hell are we paying for? Who will pay for cost of alingement? Not East Herts DC!
  19. We all do it (once!). Having swopped to new PFF7s, I took off with the locking key still attached. Subaru dealer managed to supply replacement next day. Can't recall the cost, but it certainly wasn't hugely expensive.
  20. Sad news. Until two years ago, wife and I ran current WRX and an STi Type UK. Unfortunately the STi had to go due to unaffordable costs. We do sympathise, but perhaps one day you will be back in an Impreza/STi. Regards, John & Carol MacDonald
  21. Yes, I have used an indepedent specialist for years (using EBC pads)and he is cheaper than main dealers by far.
  22. What a beautiful machine! Look after it...
  23. I know that, but who wants to bugger about on a cold and wet evening - that's usually when a tyre goes!!!
