  1. Go to a specialist and not the main dealers. With the Right to Repair any garage can service your car and the warranty will not be compromised as long as they follow the schedule. Most will have something like Autodata so they know exactly what to do. The specialist will know your car type inside out and will give you the best possible service that will look after your car as a labour of love - not just a job coming through the door. There are some recommendations here already and you cannot go wrong with a recommendation. If you really want to look after your car then halve the times for replacing the oils, especially if you driver her hard or for very short journies. Never exceed the service intervals and never use anything below the recommended lubricant standards. A standard car will rarely go wrong as Subaru tend to be extremely well built. I have been driving them for many years and have never (yet) had a major component failure. Just one radiator at 135,000 miles on a Legacy and pleny of brake pads and a few discs for my second towing Legacy. The Scoob has the original clutch at 40k miles but I expect that to go Kaput soon as I have modded it and upped the power and torque somewhat. No need to worry - go with the advice and pick either the specialist who is normally cheaper than the main dealer or use the main dealer if you feel they are your best bet.
  2. Costs around £600 - 700 depending on where you go. Just ask to have it mapped safely, I have two on mine now, one is the cruising one woth 250 bhp and 280 ft lb torque and the other is the Race map with 279 bhp and 340 ft/lb torque with flat shift and autoblip as well as launch control. The throttle response was also improved by 5%. There is a massive difference in the way it drives now. You need to talk to your mapper and discuss exactly what you want from your car. I am running on a stock TD04 turbo, a bigger turbo = more grunt but more chance of a big bang I reckon.
  3. ah well I went east, ok on the bike. First time I went I could not believe what I was seeing, amazing seeing steam cars turning up too. Must be 5 years since I went last, would love to go again.
  4. Been a few times when I lived up that way, both on a bike and in a car - it really is fantastic but do not expect a quick getaway at the end, lol!

  7. Good man, you need the right colour to go fast!! hehehe
  8. You could always paint the car in a "proper" colour and keep the gold wheels?!?!?!
  9. Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo U can't do that to a Scoob

  17. careful if they are cracked - even hairline - coz that could be terminal for you and the car. I would want mine fully ndt'd before and after a repair with that damage, it is not just a case of re-rounding them, there will always be a weakness where that damage is now
  18. Just had the Race Rom remap. Previously I have fitted cold air induction, MY08 STI intercooler, Samco air induction hose, decat down pipe, afterburner centre section and Ninja2 tail pipe, wallbro fuel pump and a forge vta dump valve. In theory my hawkeye wrx was 227 bhp and about 234 ft lb of torque. After those mods it pulled a downsite better than before and when put on the dyno was sat at 238 bhp - just 11 up from standard - and about 260 ft lb of torque. Felt better than standard. Now the remap. Two maps on mine - selectable. The normal road map is now 250 bhp and 280 ft lb torque and this is really better than standard. Drives much better. Second map is the full blown race map. 280 bhp and 340 ft lb of torque. Wow. I also have auto blip and flat shift as well as launch control with a much better throttle response time. The difference is astounding, especially when gunning from 40mph up when overtaking. I actually jolted my neck back a bit the first time I tried it and it has probably knocked a fair amount off of the 30-70 time. The whole car is far more responsive both going on throttle and dropping off. I know I will get used to it but that is the max I will get ut of that turbo. Slap in a VF43 or VF48 and you could take it up much much more. In answer to your question: 25% more power and 45% more torque does make a difference in my humble opinion and yes you will notice the difference - honest!
  19. Nice one, my tent is ready, back pack packed and ferry booked. You are providing the bbq and beers I presume?
  20. Saw your car parked down there, looking very sorry for itself with all the bits off it now (hehehe)
  21. Next step will be a bigger turbo - or sell this car and buy an older beastie with harder engine.
  22. My divorce came in handy for getting it done
  23. Yeah he also made the throttle response 5% better in race mode too. It is what I have waited several years for.
  24. Well finally had the car remapped. Stock the cars are 227bhp and around 240ft lb torque. Martin Jeffery spent a while tweaking things and now I have a twin map setting. The normal one is 250.6 bhp and 270ft lb torque and set for nice comfortable cruising. The race mode is 280 bhp and 340 ft lb of torque at 2800 rpm with auto blip, flat shift and launch control all enabled. Must admit that I used race on the way home. There was a line of 4 vehicles in front of me doing 40 on a straight and flat bit of road. I changed to third and the awesome sound of the flat 4 let rip. By the time I had cleared the 2nd vehicle I was already rapidly going through +30 and when I cleared the 4th I was +50 and backing off, at no point did I floor it. It was astonishing when you are not used to it. Certainly made a big difference, all this on a stock TD04! If I had a decent clutch, balls of steel, a new set of engine mounts and a clean pair of underpants I would try the launch control. Sounds awesome by putting it in 1st and hitting the accelerator, just need the right place to let it go now - and a collection of the aforesaid items! I can recommend the race rom to any hawkeye on scoob owners. I am sure the STI owners will get more out of it than my little standard WRX Spec T, lol
  25. Looks really good, well done!
