  1. Well finally got some time off over Xmas so made a start on the backlog of pics I haven’t processed, so first up was the RB relay. As you may not be aware, Richard decided to take part in the RB-Relay and asked me to be co-pilot, so here is the trip from start to finish. After getting up at 3:30am! and driving down to Lands End we meat a few bleary eyed SIDC members stumbling around in the dark as can been seen below, or not; Needles to say we didn’t hang around long as we had along day ahead of us for some and we couldn’t see sod all until we got to the first services/meet point; Not long and we were off again at a more leisurely pace this time []; Next service/meet point; Cheques handed over and photos taken by the press; Off again; This was the only camera we passed the entire trip!; Coming in to services to pickup a few more scoobs; You got to go you got to go; Breakfast stop and pickup more scoobs; RB Owners Club in attendance; Speech and cheques being handed over; Watching me watching you!; By this point we had been around the M25 and through the Dartford tunnel but then the heavens opened; The Boss; Dinner Time [] and we swamped the services; We then moved on to Prodrive, I wont post the pics as most have been seen; Moving on again into the midlands; Got ya; Next service stop, the daylight is starting to go from this point; The RAF Boys; Now we passed this van 3 times so I had to take a pic on the 3rd pass; Banana man; The last service stop for day one; Onwards into the night; End of Day One.
  2. Happy Christmas everyone, hope you all got what you wanted.
  3. Happy belated birthday Graeme.
  4. Yep thats the one. Looked at the PLX when was after mine, looked very good. But already had egt and the logging via the ecu so went with the other. I remember the mag feature with yours in years ago, you still planning on fitting a turbo or staying NA?
  5. So that will mean you've probably done about 20 laps already then?
  6. From the research I did for my build the general consensus was the 18g is more suited to 2.0l. Only gain on 20g was more power at the top end but at the loss of low/mid end torque unless you have a 2.2,2.33 or 2.5.
  7. Can only run very mild als due to the restrictive ICSV not flowing enough air, so shouldn’t need them I hope. Cusco, nice bit of kit, you'll be going Andy F style soon with CF doors and perspex windows. lol Probably wise with the power you will end up running, what's the aim now 500 or more?
  8. They look the same but V4 was 97/98, think his year is wrong. Mine is very late 98, they look painted on the ends because the plug should not be the same colour. You got a good deal there Jim V3/V4 heads are very much in demand with high power builders, normally go for £400 to £500. And just a note those pistons/rods on ebay are the wrong ones, the compression height is for phase 2 heads, but I mailed them and you just have to request phase 1 pistons.
  9. Not guilty. Could have been John & Nix?
  10. I went for this unit by Innovate Motorsport. Gauge in light; In the dark; You could just buy the sensor, LC-1, if the greddy emange has an input for it and also has logging capability. This is how Jim has his setup on his leggy with the power fc.
  11. Started on the heads this weekend; Purchased a valve spring compressor; Remove cam cover; Followed by cam; I then labelled up 16 bags as you need to keep each set together, most important being the shim with each set. Buckets and shims removed; Valve compressed and collets removed, telescopic magnet very useful for this part. Then retainers, valve and spring removed; This pic shows a valve stem without valve stem seal and one with; All removed and you can see how bad the OEM casting is finished; Hope to remove all these casting lumps when porting the heads;
  12. Back to the build. Acquired these for nowt; So bought the comp to go with them; On strip down I discovered my cam belt tensioner was leaking, lucky for me it hadn’t failed. So new tensioner purchased; Block halves ready for full degrease and clean; Don’t look much better but fully cleaned and all oil ways blasted dry with the new air line; Bores have been greased to stop them rusting.
  13. Found these on ebay, genuine philips Bi-Xenon HID kit circa £350! new for £41 second hand []; Fitted and all working, so much brighter that I had a burn spot on my eyes for half hour after looking at them![:$] obviously need adjusting.
  14. Octane of 99 Ron. Shell V-Power
  15. Just fitted a momo myself, not for weight saving though. Got a brand new boss and wheel on e-bay dirt-cheap. Remove airbag retaining screws, after disconnecting the battery for a few mins; 17mm main nut; Leave the nut on the end, so when you pull it off you don’t smack yourself in the head; Airbag/horn wiring; Case cracked open; Unit removed, just need to adapt the boss to work the indicator cancel; Boss in place; Fitted;
  16. Aye, all the camera gear will be going with me. Still have to post up all the RB Relay/Manx International & Cyprus pics too. If I ever get around to it. Anyway off out on the lash now![]
  17. On splitting the block I discovered I'm lucky to have a rear thrust bearing block even though it should have been a middle thrust, must have one of the very last phase 1 cars using a phase 2 block and crank. So doing the build myself![] Is very tempting, will have to wait till after the run in on the 16g, have to use it after all the work porting it. Mmmmmmm stripped out racer style, what you doing with the old seats? You going GT30R, twisted setup?[] Fen tells me you have fitted new suspension as well? Congrats to you both.
  18. Will be new year now before it's running.
  19. I think the Top Gear test some time ago was a perfect example of this, think it was a Porsche and R1 that went head to head on track. The bike was quicker on the straights and the car on the bends, car won by the smallest of margins, but to be honest I seen it as equal. Also depends how big your gahonies are to![]
  20. Welcome to the mad house Richard. May see you in the new year pending engine rebuild.
  21. Been in for a few weeks from what I hear, just pending test's to confirm its octane rating then the signage can go up. But then not much use if you aint got a car to put it in.[]
  22. Evening all. Rally GB tickets turned up the other day.[]
  23. Hey Andy, how's it going? You still got the scoobysport backbox on the car? John I have a few bits which might interest you as I am going full 3” system with my new setup, give me a call if you want 498476. As Andy said ported headers will help, but don’t forget you will need to lag the downpipe as well to keep under bonnet heat down.
  24. Morning! Just about to order the pistons/rods John so it is looking like a new year running in, provided I have no probs with the build.
  25. How you doing fella? long time no hear. SCP have moved, they are down middle river estate now, but still waiting on a dyno dynamics set of rollers. I would have said you could borrow my wideband but it's hard wired to the car. So is it a Scooby you’re putting the e-manage into?
