About oohaohh

  1. I know what you mean, mine went up Fromm £400 to £700 this year so I had to change and eventually got it for similar to you. That said I think the insurance companies are taking the biscuit. My friend just tried to put his 17 year old son on his insurance policy for a Nissan Navara and they raised his policy to just over £5000 a year. They wanted £3000 to put him on his misses KA.
  2. I've not used them in a while, but I was very pleased when they set up my mini several years ago. Though that was a simple rolling road session to sort out the fueling on my SU carb. Living in Torbay it would either be them or Rowleys in cullompton. Both of which have given me good service. Though only used either a handful of times. If it helps any I am planning to take my Mini Clubman to Alan once complete as soon as it's finished. I'm hoping they can get my V8 singing. Cheers James
  3. I'd pay it for the little orange logo.
  4. I had the same with them. Been using them four about 4 years paying around £400 year then it went up to £800 this year. So told then to shove it and went else where. Saved £300 and got quote of £500. So much for being loyal.
  5. They are different engine sizes. I'm not 100 percent sure but I also think they are block dependant as well. If memory serves me right the 2.33 needs the 2.5 block and the others are based on the 2 litre one. As for the gains and technical side, i'll let one of the others go into that cause I'm not totally certain
  6. hi all. I'm after some advice and tips. I'd like to take scruffy on holiday with me to europe. Scruffy is my classic impreza 2000 awd turbo. Problem is i have no idea of what i need to do. The trip will go from torquay where i live to france, then down to spain to barcelona and on way back thinking going to milan and then the nordscliffe infamous race track. The route planned at present stands just under 3000 miles. Going into france, spain, italy, switzerland, germany, belgium. Any advice is appreciated. Though one thing i need to definately check is my exhaust. It has full deact at moment. Have feeling switzerland might not like that lol.
  7. as big d said, you need to find the intel. Some are obvious some aren't. If you need any help i have a list of their locations i could send you. Let me know.
  8. that's what i'm worried about, i know there are a few quirks with it and concerned that the dyno might be the final straw. That said in for a penny in for a pound. So sign me up. I'll be there and i'll let them laughat my abused car
  9. if i'm not working i'll try and join you all. Would be good to meet some of you for a change. Though not sure about putting my car on the rollers lol.
  10. The best noise, was when I was chasing a Corvette Z06 at full bore in my 2000 AWD Turbo with full decat and Magnex 3 " tailpipe. Don't know how hard the Vette was working but the aural experience was mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.. Definately a window open moment.
  11. definately keep it running, I have a uk 97 impreza too, she's got 115,000 miles on the clock and still ticking. I've heard of cars with a lot more. I did find a web site dedicated to 250k cars and if remember there were some scoobs on there. My car just had to had a plate welded on for it's mot and that's all. Well except for slight issue with my decat lol. A quick double swap and mot passed. That said i grounded her last year so might be why it needed welding like you i've got the feeling some new bushes are needed, lol it's got easier to get the bum out lately lol. I'm not sure what others will say but in my experience, when i lay her up it costs me money. Whilst being used other than excessive fuel costs it's relatively cost effective. Lol it's beyond me how some people claim 30 plus mpg my average is 24 but usually 20 lol. Sorry i digress. Way i look at it you obviously look after it and if your still enjoying it etc. You should keep if your not then why not change.
  12. 1 Classic 2 Hawkeye 3 Bugeye 4 Blobeye 5 Hatch Though if you have an impreza who cares what others think.
  13. As far as i'm aware the rear style racks are universal. Though i would suggest you seriously consider the roof option. Reason i say that is i loaded my bike on the back of my classic, and it caused a few issues. Firstly and most importantly, i ended up with a reasonable amount of damage to my rear spoiler. This was because my pedal decided it was hungry and whilst driving. Also you'll have to watch your speed. I've had my rack for a while and used it on my old bmw and other hatch back cars, with out problems. But for some reason when i had a little play i found my rack had come loose. Very lucky not too loose the bike. This was a seperate incident to the first. You can get one that attaches to a tow hitch but that's only valid if you have one. My friend had one of these and it was the best i've come across because it is rear mounted so minimal drag effect and locates far enough away from the car not to cause damage. Though if you don't have a tow hitch in my opinion roof mounted is best. Even if it does effect fuel consumption. I'd rather scratch my bike than my car.
  14. Hi, I own one of these, and mine has 115,000 miles on the clock. I will admit it has been fairly abused since my ownership. Your dad is fairly correct in that if it goes wrong it's not normally cheap. Though in my experience this doesn't happen as often as you may think. Though other people may have different experiences. Also bear in mind that your supposed to change the oil every 7500 miles according the handbook. Fuel ecconomy on them isn't the best either, I only ever average 25 mpg, and that's when doing long runs driving it well gentle. Did get more when had normal exhuast but only 30mpg. Though to get that i had to use optimax fuel oops i mean V-fuel. and drive very carefully. You also have to bear in mind that in my experience being 4wd you end up replacing all four tyres at once, which if you go for good ones can hurt, especially if the car your looking at has bigger rims. I.e 17's All I'd suggest is consider it carefully if cash is tight. That said other than a different variant, i don't think you'll find another car like it. I've tried selling mine several times, but chicken out because a normal car feel so blahhh. If you do go for it, make sure you check it's history etc, I know others on here will have better advice about what to look for. The only thing i can say is expect it to have had some abuse in the past. It may have been looked after, but i wouldn't be supprised if it's been driven hard at some point.
  15. thanks for the advice. I must admit i was concerned over how cheap it was.
