About scoobysaurus

  1. Thanks, I'll have a look into them. I'm willing to travel a little way for the right paintshop.
  2. Hello all My rusty arches definitely need attention, can anyone recommend a good bodyshop I can trust my car to. Looking for a proper restoration job not a bodge, patch and paint. I know the arches can be a lot worse as you start to dig deeper.. The car is a keeper so needs to be done properly so it will last many more years. Thanks
  3. Anyone recommend a Subaru specialist in Surrey or the surrounding area? My Classic is due a bit more tlc this year..
  4. I have genuinely just measured the mpg for the first time ever, my commute has just changed to a 40 mile rural drive round trip (40-60mph limits) and I have got 26 mpg, pretty impressive. One of the reasons for asking about mileages is that I could replace the car now if I wanted to and was considering a Hawkeye STi last week but £400 road tax is one good reason to put me off. I'm considering getting a second car - some sort of Caterham 7, I would continue with the Scooby as my daily runner Must be more fun than just chopping it in for an STi After 13 years we are quite attached...
  5. I've had my 97 "Classic" since new and now done 71k miles. I'm interested to know what sort of mileages are people getting out of their cars before the bills start getting big? The car is pretty much standard, gets serviced once a year and runs Silkolene Pro S. It's been treated to rear disks/pads, a radiator, link arm and a cambelt in the last year. Had a clutch a long time ago at 26k miles. Has had new front discs and pads along the way. Doesn't get driven very hard. It's probably due some more bushes/suspension investment as it's 13 years old but then as long as it passes the MOT.. Should I just keep running it?
  6. There's lots out there, good and bad. Check some out and wait for a genuine car with low owners, no damage and lots of Subaru history, they are around Check owner as carefully as car...
  7. Like it says, anyone know of a supplier selling for less than £79 + post? part no: MDB1416 Thanks all
  8. I have seen Mintex brake pads packaged as C Tech. I'm after M1144 pads but was confused when I saw C Tech on boxes advertised as Mintex. Are C Tech and Mintex one and the same? I can't see C Tech mentioned on the Mintex website (a website which is pretty rubbish IMHO).
  9. Job done, my local tyre supplier has managed to find 2 S03's, very lucky
  10. I need to replace 2 tyres on my Classic but understand that S03's are no longer available. Is the direct replacement the RE050? (that's what the Bridgestone website is advising me). Would rather stick with Bridgestone as the other 2 S03's have loads of life left
