  1. Correct if they were looking to steal it they would not have made so much noise unless they are completly stupid. I think they are most likely young boys admiring the car. Can they not just do it during the day quietly. As I said I park on the drive and my girlfriend parks in front of it so they would have to break into her car and start it as it on a hill and the neighbours car is parked in front so they would need to move the car up the hill and then try stealing my car without waking me or the dog up.
  2. To be honest if it kept up id be most likely to just keep a base ball bat behind the front door as im sure if they woke me up and i came out weilding a bat half asleep at 1 in the morning half pissed they would not come back. They would struggle to steal it as the birds car is usually parked 90 degrees to mine in front of the drive
  3. Well story goes I moved into my first house in the middle of August Straight away one of the neighbours commented on how my exhaust would wake the whole street up. To be fair when im onshore im never away in the morning before 10ish and never late back to the house so I have had never had any other comments since the day i moved in. Last time I was home I was standing in the kitchen which overlooks the drive and a Saxo with an exhaust bigger than mine pulls up with 2 kids with baseball caps inside. The stop in front of my drive pointing at the car then drive off this was in the middle of the day fair enough. Now im back offshore my other half has informed me that on Sat night the same car turned up with another 3 cars at 1am pulled in realsied the car was not there, I live in a cul de sac so they have to turn around to go back out. They do so making a flippin racket and pulling wheel spins. The next day a neighbour comes to the door complaining about my friends cars making a racket and waking people up. My girlfriend informed her that it was nothing to do with me and that i was offshore. Basically the car is attracting attention weather it be them admiring the car or wanting to steal it I don't know. Do I get a reg plate and phone the police and risk backlash like vandalism of some sort? Approach them next time they turn up with several of my mates? Or get the reg and get a source to tell me who owns the cars and see if i can get it sorted another way? I don't actually think they would try to steal the car but im more concerned that they will continue to turn up and annoy my neighbours which basically annoys me as I don't want to be a bad neighbour.
  4. Think it will have to be a 6 speed then as iv priced straight cut PPG and it comes in at over £3k for the gearkit plus i would need a casing and then to have it built I would imagine your talking 4k plus. You seem to be able to get 6 speeds anywhere between £1.5-2k and i could have it refreshed by API to ensure it was tip top before fitting. And yes im aware it is torque that kills boxes. Scooby 222 I have a FPR to fit and will be purchasing a set of fuel rails to be converted for -6n fittings so i can go parrellel. As for breaks I already have a set of Alcon's with the godspeed 335mm brake upgrade so id imagine they are fine for 400bhp Cullenmin The RB5 is currently still my only car so I won't be bolting on the 20g and breaking my 5 speed untill I have a runabout glad to see you have kept the car in the end, we will need to have a wee dual around knockhill next year.
  5. Well I may just have to get a stronger box before i fit the 20g then. 6 speed will stand up to it im sure.
  6. Looking at getting a TD05 20g. I already have a FMIC and 3" de-cat. I presume all I need is suitable sized injectors. what size? Running a standard uk engine what power would I expect and what is considered as safe im already at 330 I presume that is the limit? Im not realy that bother if it throws a rod as i wouldn't mind a stroked 2.1 anyway. Any other weak points i should consider gearbox? My clutch was uprated to a hybrid rated about 380ish from what i can remember
  7. Looking good mate. Mine is going off the road shortly for an overhaul. Where did you get the fuel rails with adapter for proper fittings?
  8. £4000-£5000 if your lucky Id say get a set of standard lights as lexus lights are seen as chavtastic
  9. Also how many RB5's still exist? 300 possibly? Also there were only 100ish WR sport RB5's built with special extras. You do have to exclude 22B's as they are a law to themselves
  10. Biased what does that mean? Il say RB5 as well. I would say they are pretty much the rarest UK car
  11. thought it was not going back up till 2010?
  12. And he said to me that all he had done since doing a 9.04 was fit bigger brakes and fit a cage so if anything the car had gained weight so would be slower. Heard a rumour he had bought a rather expensive sequential box recently may have something to do with it!
  13. The liquid coming out of the gauge is called glycorene it is used to stop the needle vibrating to much. You may want to make yourself a rubber seal so it doesn't leak everywhere or take the stopper out and pour it out as id imagine fuel pressure will be pretty steady anyway.
  14. Gary see link below http://www.carldavey.co.uk/diary.php?id=67 a properly looked after car and you can even read the diary and see exactly what he has done over the last few years
  15. my rb5 will be for sale shortly proved 330bhp. Also if you want an ra do a search for carl davey on google as he is selling his ra for 7k ish and it is a well sorted car. And i agree cullenmins car is sweet
  16. My mates 97 vectra failed it's mot and had no tax and he got £250 he was well pleased as it is alot more than if he weighed it in
  17. Oh dear sounds like somebody decided to brake their car instead of fixing it. The RB5 may be fine for months and not have any issues o the engine may pop leaving me with a massive bill and no car.
  18. Id say iv basically got an itch and it needs scratching if you know what i mean. Seriously considering an FQ340 8 or 9. I can always come back if I don't like it
  19. The RB5 is ok but has a Hole in both sills where previous owner damaged the sill which has now rusted through Rusty rear arches and rust at the top of the winscreen. I basically hate rust and i can be bothered paying thousands to get it fixed properly. I don't find the RB5 refined enough to be honest to noisy and the build quality of classics is poop. I can oly seeing it being a money pit. It is my every day car so making it bombproof would be a waste of money. A good excuse to move yes most likely but why not?
  20. My RB5 has been proving troublesome of late. Starter motor last week and now the rear diff is whining. I can't help but think with the car having done 100k it is just going to be one thing after another going wrong with it. Im considering a change for something a bit newer and more reliable. I have about 10-15K to spend. Do I buy a newage spec-c, litchfield type 20, spec D hawkeye? Or move to the dark side and get an FQ340?
  21. Sounds like an air lock if some of the hoses are cold. U tried letting the car warm up with the cap off the coolent to drain of any air?
  22. Well done mate hopefully my car is visible in some of the pic's
  23. Yes it is for an RB5 standard as far as im aware. Im currently in the middle of the north sea I will see if i can get somebody from the owners club to get me the number of the VIN and get back to you.
  24. Think I will leave the rebuilding to the experts then. Now where to source parts as need the car as it is my every day transport. How long did it take Kenny to build the new diff as i could let him do it while im offshore for 2 weeks next time.
