  1. For the collapsing thing I suppose... wasn't in a hurry to do so. Was more interested than anything. Perrin are certainly pushing their claim that the internal surface is more smooth giving better airflow and quicker spool-up, but I guess they're bound to say so and the gains are small relative to gains from, say, decent downpipe. Likewise their lightened crank pulley. Out of interest (and please excuse my ignorance) anyone tell me what the other branches on the intake pipe are for? I assume one is a plumb-back from the turbo wastegate, but I couldn't figure the rest. Anyone? Cheers Glyn
  2. Not had tracker probs - not heard of it being widespread either.... alarm sometimes goes off overnight if it's been a hot day and the temp really drops. Probably just humidity, but then that's probably true of most alarms. Did of course check there wasn't some tampering TWOCer in the bushes before making this assumption *chuckle* Your engine should be fine - it seems very much an ecu problem, rather than the hardware 'cos the Prodrive ecu-kitted 330S seems unaffected - seems to be det in one of the cylinders cracking the piston rings with the result being... well... sadly, you know the rest only too well mate! Gutted for you. It only seems to affect cetrain batches of STI though - lots Stateside. Don't be put off. Saw another Dark Age (I'm gonna use that even if no-one else does... I like it! Has a certain tragic glory to it!) STI this morning... I think we look good out on the road! Keep us posted as to how you get on. Glyn
  3. Geez... next thing ya know it'll be Laura Ashley curtains! *lol* But we stray off topic...
  4. Before anyone says it... no I haven't had this problem with my Dark Age (Hatch) STI... I like that as a designation! *chuckle* Am however aware of people of various forums (and with various generations of scoobs I might add) having probs with the stock intake pipe collapsing under boost and therefore replacing with aftermarket kit. Anyone done this? Any power gains/ problems etc? Any particular brand favoured - for example THIS... or just stick with stock? Thoughts appreciated. Glyn
  5. Bomber with a blue light is it then? Stick a sheet over the tarpaulin... stops the run-off a bit better! Ahem... The List... Have been requested to shift this to the Events section... CLICK HERE
  6. Probably new eyebrows too! *chuckle* Nice numbers. Glyn
  7. Me too mate. How many miles had you done?
  8. Trust a woman to think about toilets *chuckle* ... Sorry Imy! But no, that does sound better. A bit further south, but that means we need less juice to get us there and I don't fancy trying Perth to Chester on one tank! No chance! A bit later leaving there might be better though - perhaps 9am? Any objections to 9am start at Happendon anyone?
  9. Nope... had to do me own leg work! Another black mark against Subaru, I feel... But speaking of faults, let-downs, bad press, divided opinion, credit crunch, WRC pull-outs... The End of Subaru? ... or the hope of better times to come (when I get round to that new 'zorst!) ... How about... DARK AGE ?
  10. Ouch! No I hadn't! Cheers mate! Have checked it out with the local 'stealer and booked in for a free remap. "Preventive measures" dontcha-know so they said. As such, took the old girl out for a quick thrash after reading up. Pulls smooth from standing start to red-line in all 3 SI-Drive modes, no judder, flat spots, funny noises or obvious problems and certainly no obvious loss of boost. Problem seems to apply to a particular batch of cars and most have gone around the 4-8k mark. Could have done without the bad press like... *chuckle* Aye, but in the same way as a classic (or indeed older Legacy) looks like a 90s "Teye-ota" Corolla... but then y'all'll swear blind otherwise! Never thought about the 3G phone thing... but... now you mention it, Welsho... it DOES ring a bell! *lol*
  11. Am still up for this... Just a thought... coming from the East, Hillington seems a bit far into Glasgow to go in to come out again and I don't fancy trying to catch you en-route (not with the missus in the car anyway! *chuckle*) Presumably we'll be heading down M74 for the border? Why not meet up at Bothwell Services (G71 8BG) southbound between J4&5? There's a BP station on-site but if that's not to everyone's V-power tastes there are nearby Shell Garages or we could divert through Shell Larkhall en-route if there's not too many of us... 0830 would be fine for me... usually up early anyways!
  12. At risk of this turning into Hatch-owners Anonymous *chuckle*... mine's pushing 25,000 miles in only 15 months... Perth to Kirkcaldy for work 'n' back 5 days a week and out to play for the odd meet too. Rock solid! (Touch wood, Glyn, touch wood!) ... not to mention it's the same EJ25T engine as under the Hawk and Blob/ Peanut eye bonnets. If we're in trouble... so are they! The looks...? Like it or loathe it (sticks and stones, guys!) it is how it is. But perhaps consider having enough class to drive one before you pass judgement - I mean that sincerely with no flames intended! Names...? "The Hatch" is fairly succinct and to the point, is it not? Sticking to the "eyes series" is getting a bit old fashioned in my book... 3G sounds best if I had to pick so far. Glyn
  13. This beastie was feature in the last issue of True Grip. The spec is absolutely TERRIFYING!
  14. Aye, you're quick, but not THAT quick! *chuckle* Did 60 most of the way home as was running on vapour! Had to pit at Broxden - sorry to spoil your speedy aspirations! *lol* Was bl**dy scary coming up that big hill after Aberuthven with the needle well in the red... was expecting the worst! I spotted you 2 behind after Brox, but who was that with you in the grey classic? Didn't recognise the car. Better make it a PM mate - the Mods'll get cross about going off-topic...
  15. Would be worse without the wheels at all, like! Oooo! Cheers Stu, you made me car LOOK all shiny! 16. Andy seemed to have probs at K'Hill as well. AWD don't seem to be having a good time of it of late... c'mon lads!
  17. Awww! No, seriously mate, is looking v tidy. Nice one! You done anything else with the suspension yet? I know you said you felt coilovers were a shade too hard for comfort? And where'd you get the flip-ups? Can't find 'em anywhere online... Good to see the ole' hatch getting a bit of positive press too, folks... lets face it, ye never buy a scoob to keep it standard anyroads! (OK, so mine is, but intent is a wonderful thing!)
  18. *sigh* Fair cop guv...
  19. Looks are one thing, but interesting that a set-up of this calibre have ditched the Hawkeye in favour of the hatch... And don't tell me there was no controversy over ITS looks when it came out! ... Not that you've upset me or anything *chuckle* No flames intended..... 'MON THE HATCH!
  20. Will be there to cheer y'all on - good luck guys!
  21. ...AND the wheels!
  22. Certainly distinctive... Nice! Orange and blue? You're not a Bhoy then I take it? *chuckle* Really like the starry wing mirrors... might pinch that particular idea if you don't mind! Regards Glyn
  23. Aw, now that's just nasty! Am always on the lookout for different kit, mate... be grateful if you'd PM or post what you find, ta. I think "Raft" is a little harsh, but the stickers and wind deflectors defo gotta go... Why the h*ll have windows if you're gonna stick on some lump o' plastic to stop the air getting in? *despairing sigh*
  24. More rice for y'all.... ...but I LIKE IT!!! http://www.japanparts.com/images/ImageFrom...=1&no=23990
  25. Whaddaya mean ONLY Dundee? That's MY home city and proud o't! *chuckle* You certainly never miss a Dundee meet if you can help it, mate, so it can't be THAT bad! lol (at least you washed your motor first!) How VERY dare you, sir! We have many fine views around Dundee... There's the.... the... um... Hmph! And it does... lived there most o' me life. Just you tell em, Grant! Nice pics mate!
