  1. We should add here that "silencer" is a relative term where Barry is concerned. Sorry Baz! You'll think I have it in for you today! But I stray off-topic... Read around on the forums mate... quite a lot on here already re this. Glyn
  2. Oh aye... it's Chargespeed, not Veilside. Sorry, didn't read down that far! I reckon the 65K was what he paid on insurance!
  3. I agree... H*LL yeah! Scrimping and saving on safety kit is a no brainer mate. Try uprated pads/ discs... lots of differing opinions on what's best. EBC are worth a look, but if you go for Yellows, uprated the discs too as standard discs fade a bit with the harsher pad. Glyn
  4. Veilside front end? Not a fan m'afraid. If it has a saving grace, it's that it lacks a dodgy rear spoiler!
  5. Size DOESN'T matter *lol* Hatch'll take a 6+ footer (like me) no probs.
  6. Preferable to *Click...BOOM!* methinks! Paranoid? Me? WHO said that?
  7. But... but.... but.... ...But... THAT would involve EFFORT! *lol* I kinda thought the manual thing was a GIVEN... I just thought BJM was onto something else of further interest that the wider hatch community might benefit from. Oh well... *sigh & chuckle*
  8. Aye, thought as much... Thanks guys! As in...?
  9. Was nosing around under the dash (as ye do!) and pulled down the fusebox cover (down beside where driver's right knee would be)... Only to find a funny wee gizmo on the back of it... no camera today so no pics m'afraid, but the beastie in question is about 2x5cm with a load of buttons 0-9 plus the usual * etc. Looks like a mini calculator without the LCD display. Thought it was CLEARLY an explosive device of some sort (or might have some such an effect on the car - eek!) so didn't fiddle... just wondered if anyone knows what it is... or whether I'm being bugged by MI5 etc! Will try and get pics if someone doesn't beat me to it. But, thoughts?
  10. The most worrying thing being that in his "full speck as dollows" (JEEZ, that makes me cringe!!!) he doesn't actually mention an engine... although I suppose there seems to be one in the picture... underneath all the chromed guff! He even has mirrors in the bonnet lid *urf!* ...Oh, and from his feedback he seems to sell a LOT of DVDs... Hmmmm. Would YOU buy a used car from this man? *chuckle*
  11. Aye, he's been modding that for a while on IWSTI... have been watching with interest. The aero kit is chargespeed, albeit painted in WRB... carbon hood is Seibon. AND he's got a GT35R kit with FMIC... It shifts! Sweet car.. But the REALLY annoying thing is that the guy is still at SCHOOL! That just ISN'T fair.
  12. Good choice mate! ...at least YOU didn't settle on a wee red honda van *many-a-chortle* Sorry Rich! Couldn't resist... my blue "van" is at your mercy *lol*
  13. Oh, come ON now! Don't be TOO unfair... ... the TYPOs alone make it worth the effort! *lol* A (small) selection of my personal favourites are: ... the PRIVET number plate - a nice horticultural touch and eco-friendly... just not sure if it'll hold up to the draught! ... the delocked BEET - quite why you'd lock a root vegetable in the first place is beyond me, but... ... and that "due to it having no tax or mot car will need to be towed or trailered away... cant say px why wink wink 4x4" So it's nicked then? Hence the private (sorry!) PRIVET plate? Tow an AWD? Chav... TWOCer... or just a complete MORON?
  14. Ooooo! Just spotted! SHINY! *maniacal grin!*
  15. Had thought of them, but figured on doing a bit of legwork myself first. ...but am now beginning to doubt myself... any gurus out there to clarify this? *embarassed sniffle*
  16. Aye, and in fact I prefer the twin exit version... but that would just be FAR too straight forward! *chuckle* I was looking more at building a custom centre exit zorst which would be more or less straight through... just to be a bit different. It's a kind-of "in-my-nature-to-be-different-and-generally-awkward" thang... tends to be expensive too unfortunately! Oh, and yes I WOULD be intending to mod the rear bumper accordingly! *lol*
  17. Cheers mate... but am afraid I have recruited your sterling efforts in vain with this particular box... Aye... am just at the "wouldn't it be nice if..." stage at the moment, but have just realised that the Vortex pipework is all 2.5"... whereas the STI hatches run 3" standard (unless have got this REALLY wrong, but I don't think so!) Thanks for the help... sorry guys! Glyn
  18. Just wondered if anyone's running one of these... am doing a bit of research towards a wee project. Anyone know 1) how long the box itself is, and 2) how long is the tip? Many thanks Glyn
  19. Ah, but they "have to guarantee supply for the next X months"... Aye - supply of cash to their pockets most likely! Grr!
  20. But it doesn't BUUUUUURBLE! (But then neither does mine... yet *chuckle*) Nice one mate. Thought you were going Type 25? Glad u chucked the Beemer... pimpmobile just didn't suit you. At least it'll be easier for me to spot u in Kirkcaldy... RED WUNZ GO FASTA! (except scoobs of course!) ... and vs the scoob, you might just get 1mpg better fuel economy out of it too! *chortle* Good choice. Glyn
  21. Evo wouldn't be the same in a tunnel! BrrrrrrrrRRRRRRRRRR! That reminds me.... must sort out my 'zorst...
  22. Wear and tear as noted... bet it rides better on the coilovers though! And you reckon a £17K FQ360's gonna be cheaper? Not MUCH I suspect, mate! Newage JDM Spec-Cs on Litchfield Imports for that sort of money... AND you don't have the 4.5K mile Evo service interval (X excepted)... OR lose the burble! ... AND, lets face it... if you have to come on here and ask us to PERSUADE you not to sell up... You ain't serious anyway! *chuckle* Safe travels mate... I know you have an offshore stint coming up. Glyn
  23. Like you mate, I found the stock 08 STi pads lasted about 5 minutes... well, OK 5K miles but not much in it! Afetr much umming and awing went for EBC yellows. Gd pads, but a bit hard on standard discs... a bit fadey on a long hard run and crunch a little when cold. Might upgrade the discs when dosh allows... no complaints on the yellows themselves though. Will watch this thread with interest.
  24. At 9mpg you're defo gonna need new brake pads if mine were anything to go by... you gonna up the callipers too? Can't remember what you said you're doing with the wheels... 19s? 20s? *chuckle*
  25. Why is Grant pulling that small girl up by the hair? *chuckle* Nice photos guys. A good showing from the club... nice to see a few hatches getting in on the act too. Glyn
