  1. I've no idea - just glanced at them when I was looking for something else. If they don't fit standard rb5 wheels then I'll just need to go down another route. It's not a major issue for me. Starting the underside this weekend, feeling a bit daft to be excited about it.
  2. Thanks for the heads up, I don't think we can get the gold callipers to fit but you can get black brembos to fit.
  3. The undercoating is going to be the first process. We are doing this by hand and will be doing a lot of wire brushing. Thorough pressure wash first for the whole underside. Ideally when the final coating goes on I'd like it to be completely smooth like new paint but am unsure what we can use on it to get this smooth. Ideally I'd like to use fibreglass/poly but this is obviously going to weigh a lot. This will make the underside stunning, clean cut and shiny once it's been painted. Obviously there's a weight issue involved, then I don't know if anything underneath will damage it. Not too bothered about speed or lightening the car as it's not going to be used for more than around 500 miles a year at the very most, if it makes it out the garage some years. Colour is white, grey or black underneath. The same will be done in the engine bay once the engines out.
  4. Yep the dump valves knackered and that's what was causing the problems. One of the springs isn't right so we're just going to chuck it and get a new one. Forgot to add that the problem was sourced on the fling but didn't take it apart till last night. Don't know what to put on it. Had a Blitz on the blob but wasn't overly taken with the sound. Would love the original stereo if you had it!!!
  5. \think everyone's came back with a list
  6. ASo our new addition to the family has a had a good try out over the weekend at the fling and any problems have now become apparent and are being dealt with bit by bit as we can. The car went in for it's 100k major service and we got to have a good look at it on the ramp in Subaru. Done so far: Major service Cam belt Tensioner Full set of discs and pads Apparent problems will be listed as discovered! 1. Losing boost pressure Dump Valve Fault 2. Brake shoes not fitted right (newly fitted by Subaru on Friday) 3. Handbrake not working right - due to above! 4. Tapping sound which disappears when brakes are pressed. 5. Steering grinding when turning - only occasionally 6. Rear Calliper pin keeps sticking brakes on. Shopping List (Suggestions and offers welcome): 1. New anti roll bars 2. New Drop links 3. Foglight covers 4. Replace rear seats 5. Replace Front Door cards 6. Replace Dash Board 7. Fit easily removable gauges (somewhere which doesn't damage the interior or require modification of interior :s) 8. New dump valve 9. New Crank, Conrods, Pistons etc, Top end overhaul (Basically a full engine rebuild and replacement) - Keeping it totally standard though no engine enhancements 10. New Brembo Callipers and discs 11. Full Stainless Exhaust (smaller and quieter!) 12. Original stereo Bodywork: 1. Full undercoat (removal of all components where possible that are in the way) 2. Repair bubbling on rear arch and rear passenger door 3. Paint rear window A pillar which has had general wearing down 4. Fit original colour RB5 wheels (keep refurbed set as spares) Think that's enough to get us started! Here goes...
  7. Didn't know Rossi was on the forum! Why would you try and pull a wheely in 5th, the gear ratio would be too high
  8. On the road from Powmill to Forestmill at about 5? You were behind or in front all weekend...thought I was seeing things tonight!...but there was another scoob in front of you. See you've "slowed" the pace down ...
  9. 1. Wrx kenny 2. badbaz - will be there at 1030 ready to press on for Perth 3. Corsa 4. NKWRX 5. Kaylz_555
  10. Hi Guys, We're hoping to be there for 1030 but it's all dependent on the time we pick it up from Ian Grieves. Can you PM your number Kenny and I'll text you to let you know if we're going to make the departure time or not. Otherwise, we'll see you all at Perth.
  11. Eh......Nice to see you found the forum! Now need to behave and watch my language!
  12. For a guy who's just discovered he's going to the fling and just got the car, he's dedicated....lol rather him than me!
  13. It's fine it's just a wee prodrive sticker - just wanted to be on the safe side, was sure it was a hairdryer! Thanks!
  14. As mentioned - p.s. I have no fancy tools..only a hairdryer which I think was what someone told me before. I don't know..I've never done it!
  15. Well maybe IF he'd told me what he'd already knew then he would've saved me a whole day and a lot of money!!! I know they go ALL the time in these times and that's why I specifically asked! Well this is one of these ones where it's most definitely not had the money spent on it. No paperwork= no proof No paperwork + buy car = muppet seller + tells buyer there is paperwork when there's not = I keep looking out the window at my RB5
  16. I was going to say I'm never going far away again to get a car, but then he did come home with this: (Wee mans heads in the pic as I'm holding him !)
  17. That's the second time I've went to the same place and it's been knackered. Dunno if it's obvious from the picture but it was visibly "cleaned up" and fresh oil leaking out, nice and golden!
  18. Think we're around Doncaster now so will let you all know what this RB5's like! You never know!
  19. I think thatyou shouldn't be able to post a car for sale on here without having a decent amount of posts.
  20. I just have to write and say how absolutely gutted and disappointed I am. I've just spent £260 on train tickets and am currently on a train back to Newcastle (then have had to get picked up by car to get taken home to Glasgow as there were no trains!)...without a car I went to buy. I specifically stated that I needed to know if there was anything wrong with the car, as it was such a long distance to go and I would be taking my baby with me on the train - so obviously wasn't just going for a "look". I said don't worry if there's anything wrong I can have it fixed I'm still interested in the car. The guy said that the car was in excellent condition with no problems at all didn't need anything, documented uk service history and japanese service history. Worked at Subaru and had it well looked after, had everything I needed to know about the engine etc I left this morning (got a friend to give me a lift at 4am) to the train station with my 18 month old son. This car was a surprise present for my Husband and to be fair it was between two cars- I thought he'd like this one better even though I preferred the other, so off I went on my 7 hour train journey. I arrive with a numb ar*e and a greetin' wain! Upon arrival the car looked as described. I was collected in his mums car because the insurance apparently just ran out on the subaru and he was going away to work so didn't renew it. Oh, ok you didn't tell me that bit, but you work AT Subaru so surely I can trust what you said. Asked to see all the documents, had a seat. So where's the service history? There's two stamps in the japanese book...can I read japanese...er no sorry but okay fair play there's two stamps and some japanese writing. Then I am told "oh I had to buy a blank subaru service book off ebay as I serviced it myself".....what ..the.. Oh and there's a receipt for this book by the way, So then I start the car which takes it's time to turn over, and if I've always known subarus, they always start at the first turn. Maybe I'm wrong but that's all I've ever heard or known. Idling's not great but starts to calm down and settles. Am I being over paranoid here? "I just did a service a month or so ago but I don't know if I've wrote it in the book." Okay no problem mate, can you get me a bit of cardboard to lie on so I can get under the car? Oil. Lots of it. Great. Maybe it's old? Slide my finger along the bottom of the gasket and it smoothly goes onto my finger. Oh fancy that. New Oil. Maybe he's spilled it? Closer inspection, power steering fluid everywhere. Oh, look, brand new coolant too. So asks, do you know what the oil is at the gasket? Did you spill it. Yeah maybe I did. Okay, well your the technician mate. Is the gasket away. Eh, yeah I think it is. But you don't need to fix it you just need to keep putting oil in it. I actually serviced it a couple of weeks ago, no last week. Where's the receipts for everything then..the cambelt etc thn. Oh I dunno where I put them" where's the MOT. Any advisories (asked on the phone he said no) checked and there it is. Needs a bush and two new tyres (very near limit) for next MOT. It needs tyres, why didn't you tell me the bush is away too? "Do you think I'm a f*ck*n idiot mate? You bring me all the way here, power steering pishing out everywhere, very highly suspect the head gaskets away but you've tried to be clever and the air flow sensor is hanging out and been taped up, needs tyres, the intercoolers knackered (well it needs a few good toothpicks!) and more to the point you've not even got any receipts or any sort of UK service history and it's a different engine? "well, it doesn't need tyres, I don't think it does, it will still pass it's MOT in June, I've just put new brakes on it, " Look, I don't even need a test drive. Just take me back to the train station thanks! I'm really really disappointed. I thought I was angry but I'm just diappointed that as soon as I pointed out all the problems he agreed!!??! You'd think someone who was a member on here and is a Technician at Subaru would at least be bloody honest. I saw his face as soon as he knew I wanted carboard and lifted the bonnet. I think he thought cause I was a woman I couldn't source things, not saying I did this without any help though - thanks guys! Thank so much to John McBay, Duncan at Hypertech, Barry at Glenrothes Garage and Dave Shanks - and even Grant for helping Dave to text me lol for all their help with the problems discovered! Needless to say I am now en route to have a look at the RB5... I've actually not got high hopes but it couldn't exactly make my day any worse!!! Do you know the worst part of it? This was supposed to be a surprise for Mr Kaylz and now it's been spoiled as I've had to get him to pick me up!! I just had to tel him aye, eh, you've had a secret day off booked at your work on holiday and hotels for the fling booked...he was in a shock when I added, aye and I'm coming home from London the now without your surprise scooby!
  21. It's looking very nice Paul. Nice touch. Kaylz
  22. Oh right, just haven't updated in a wee while! - Was waiting for one of my vans to sell and it goes tomorrow night!.... Enough time for the Fling
