  1. The UK spec and the JDm have a couple of wires in different places. You can fit the JDM to a UK but you need to swap some wires on the loom. Dont ask how i dont know!!! Just watched Paul at ZEN do it on mine!
  2. Nice use of mis-spelling!!
  3. only a little, down our way it went down to 1.09 then 2 days later its back up to 1.11 again. What i was trying to say was that the price drop at the pump doesnt reflect the price drop of the barrel of oil.
  4. Do you think this will reflect in our petrol prices?? Hell no! means the spongy b****ds will make MORE money!!
  5. yes had seen that! For £250 all in with everything on the DVLA site you can have L555 BRT which looks a lot closer to BAT
  6. Ok i understand now, See, the engine isnt in great shape anyway so yes id advise having a rebuild too. If the engine was fine you could get away with it. Good luck mate
  7. OIKKK!!! yep grants sorry!!! LMAO i bet grant will slap me now!!
  8. LMAO andys face!! Looks like Goebbels in a state of Shock!! By the way, Well done for raising all that money!
  9. NONO you should do the black ones and if theres a fault they will flash. So if theres no flash, maybe that means theres no fault recorded. Attach the green ones do the reset function as explained and then unplug them all and see if the check engine light cmoes on again. Not all failures are recorded, some are intermittent and sont get logged as a fault code.
  10. Did you do just the black ones?
  11. Tony, i wont disagree with the people above, BUT firstly most of those places will make money from you rebuilding your engine. They also know that when a head gasket goes, normally the engine has had a hard life and therefore needs a rebuild anyway. However, if your car was running perfectly ok, and the headgasket has just gone, then in all honesty there is NO NEED to rebuild the engine. Look at it this way. Unless youre running more boost and uprated turbo etc etc then doing the headgasket is perfectly fine. Ive done two different engines in two different cars now and not done a thing to the bottom end or anything else and they are still running fine. If youre running uprated boost control, and turbo and other mods that raise the normal running conditions of the engine, then you MIGHT have a problem later on. But i would envisage you changing the head gasket and running that car fine for quite a while if you dont abuse the crap out of her.
  12. Your 98 uses the OBD1 system so most mobile and shop mechanics use the SNAP ON MODIS system which is only OBDII if you can find a mechaninc that has the old snap on system or an older OBDI reader youll be fine. Just as craigy said, you can check your management yourself. Under the dash right under the steeringwheel, (get your head down there and look up under with a torch) youll see the two black and two green connectors. Connect them together, Do the black first, and watch the engine light, the flashes are the fault code in the memory. check what that relates to and youll find your problem. To reset the ECU, connect the green ones as well and drive the car then disconnect all and youre reset. If the fault is still there the engine light will come back on and doing this again will throw you that code too. Hope you have luck in this,
  13. Pele, get the gasket kit and borrow a crane pull the motor and pull the head off. get the head skimmed and slap it all back together mate. No need for a rebuild and yorue only in it for a couple of hundred!

  18. Sounds that way to me too. Have the pipe checked before changing it mate!
  19. I am afraid you have to compy or recieve a summons for non comliance. If the officer believes your car is not of legal standard, then they can give you a rectification order which is what you have. If they have test equipment, then they can test in the roadside and issue a fine there and then. in your case, Legaly you must replace the back box and have an MOT station check it and stamp the form, you then send it to the address on the form. Nothing else happens, you get no fine nor points. However, if your exhaust isnt that loud, then have the MOT check it, (normally they will listen and if its not obtrusive you will be fine) and thats it. If your exhaust is OBVIOUSLY way loud, then you might get stopped again. After three times of being stoppped for this offence, you can be prosecuted and the car siezed and crushed.

  23. Oh dear! back to the drawing board!! time to get the 6mm drill out then!
  24. To fit the new intercooler requires some mods to the cooler, which are not easy. I tried and decided it was easier to fit an AUTOBAHN top mount, same volume as a V4 but fits on easy!
