  1. They had 102ron in japan from about 93 on. It wasnt as widely available till about 96 or so, but all the JDM models required 98ron up apparently.
  2. Imports should run on 99ron fuel but to be honest with you, 97 ron Super plus isnt going to do a damn thing to your engine in normal circumstances. And regardless of what everyone else says, you can run the car on 95 ron, it may pink a bit under heavly load when hot though. The best thing to do is try it. Im running my 98 model with apexi on 95 ron for daily use, and have had no problems, and the knock doesnt change even when i use boost a bit. But as always, its up to you.
  3. I do the same mate! with the traffic problems around my area i halve the time it takes to get to and from work on the bike, its more fun and less fuel! Costs a bit more on tyres though!

  7. thats true but its only as strong as the parent metal around it and secondly HELICOIL is not reccomended for high Tourque applications such as braking systems. Only giving my advice! Use whatever you wish!
  8. I agree, helicoil in the brakes is NOT a good idea, its a temp fix as far as i am concerned. The thread size is 10mm (or an M10 thread) which means it has an 8.5mm hole. M12 uses a 10.25mm hole, so you can drill the clearance hole in the brakes to 12.2mm, then drill the threads out with a 10mm drill, to clear the threads, then tap them with an M12 tap. this will give you plenty of thread afterwards. make sure you use a starter tap then finish with a bottom tap. Clean out the threads and use new M12 bolts and some Loctite.

  12. 1: im using an Apexi power FC, so the ECU doesnt reset, doesnt relearn, stays the same map all the time. 2: if you use OIL from asda or wherever, the chances of you owning a vehicle after a while is very slim!! Vosa are out checking diesel vehicles for use of NON TAXED fuels, and fining the owners. One guy down here was using oil in his diesel, and using more than 1 litre per tank, and not keeping any records. Vosa caught him and fined him Tax on each mile on the vehicle, according to the manufacturers MPG. If you use a NON TAXED fuel in the vehicle you MUST keep reciepts and records of how much you used, because you WILL have to pay Duty on that fuel. In retrospect, Diesels are becoming just as expensive to run as a small eco friendly petrol car! Get something like a fiat quintychuffbucket or a panda, and use that for a daily run around. OR buy a bike!! thats what i do! no traffic worries, i can go to work on £10 a week!!
  13. With lower octane fuel you MIGHT get a little detonation on boost, so if you use lower grade fuel, and you drive it easy, you SHOULDNT have too much problem. I have been mixing my V-power with half a tank of 97 ron every now and then and not seen too many adverse effects. As long as you dont drive it hard, the problem of knocking shouldnt be an issue. Obviously id run a good tank of Vpower in it before you do a track day or something like that.

  16. Thats your voltage stabiliser! Most Alternators have a Voltage Reg on the back of them and theres another in the car somewhere, (changes from car manufaturer) Standard VR's basically try to keep the volts and amps at a consistent level, to avoid blowing bulbs, and electronics, but their tolerances are +or - 3 volts or so. Most that we have tested run from 12.2v idle, to 11.5v with lights idle up to fluctuating 14.6 to 12v at 3k rpm. The amps are a bit better but that fluctuation is what you see in the lights, and the guages. Having a decent aftermarket one is a definite benefit, as youll see a good voltage consistent across the rev range, meaning the guages, the electronics and the lights all recieve the most stable voltage possible. So again, an earthing kit will do NOTHING, unless you have screwed up earth cables and badly corroded straps. Spend the money on a good aftermarket regulator.

Earthing kits are great for older classic cars, mainly because the earth straps that connect the engine block Etc to the body and chassis, and the battery to the body can corrode over time and obviously corroded straps create more resistance. The school of thought is that more resistance crated a less-hot spark, and other ancillaries suffer. In my personal experience, racing and road, bad eaths cause the lights to be a little dimmer, or not fuction correctly, but unless your car is running like a dog BECAUSE of lack of adequate earthing, then youll notice NO difference, and its just for show. Your 2004 model should not need an earthing kit!!

  21. i removed mine and wrapped the turbo and downpipe with heatwrap. Works better in my experience.
