First off the Scoob is more of a drivers car with a better weight distribution due to its unique symmetrical AWD system. The EVO is like a conventional FWD with the engine sitting in front of the front axle and requires the proccessing power of NASA to deal with the understeer the chassis would naturally give. This IMHO makes it a very strange car to throw around the back roads in comparison woith the Scoob. I reckon your driving style is more suited to the Scoob than the false world of the EVO Second off you are not really that GAY are you. I know you have a tendancy to sip sherry with Torquill Fiddle-With-John but buying an Evo would be the ultimate in gayness Thirdly, i have a Best Motoring DVD here of the JDM Spec C going up against the new EVO 9 and the Spec C muffed it quite easily esp on the Touge track and the Gymkhana course. << Or a punctured rubber doll........ >> The rubber doll is not punctured If i had an alloy header tank it would not be under my bed but on my car Grant
-
It mainly applies to Model year 92 - 96 but 97 - 98 and 99 - 2001 have also been known to be weak but not as weak as the 92 - 96 cars Its a Subaru, you should always worry. Grant

<< Excuse my ignorance! but whats the story with the header tank? is the standard tank not upto big power? Col. >> The early header tanks were made from bakelite type material. This weakens through time and can either leak slowly or explode at the fientest touch. Hope this alleviates your ignorance................. Grant

Well done that man Go find yourself an alloy header tank and then have some fun Grant

Thinking back on another thread of bouncing off the bonnet of a car made a few other youthful incidents come to mind Lke......... In Primary 5, David Casey and myself would hold head-butting endurance tests. The target was a the emergency exit door of our classroom which wire reinforced. We would take it in turns to head butt the door until we could no longer compete due to fainting, bruising or rupture. I won this contest when i stuck my head right through the reinforced window. I think Yosser Hughes was the inspiration behind this event Or..... After watching Miami Vice i proceeded to chop up some chalk powder and fold it into little paper slips. This was disrtibuted to a few close friends and was then snorted round the back of the Wet Area. I think this was about Primary 4 and i suffered nose bleeds for an extraordinary amount of time Amazing the power of TV on a young developing mind Neil from the Young Ones was my role model in life for a very long time..............DOH Grant

The road at the bottom of my Cul-de-Sac is a 30mph limit but some folk think it the back straight at Knockhill. I was knocked down on that stretch of road when i was about 7 or 8. Playing football and the ball went across the road, ran across, grabbed the ball, turned and sprinted bak through the parked cars.......remember hitting the grill, being flung along the road and banging my head off the ground.......standing up, grabbed my ball, looked at the women and ran up the Cul-de-Sac to my mammy, who did not believe that i had just been hit with a car {dont even think i cried}. After a while a big huge copper appeared at the door asking if a child had been involved in a car accident, now mum believes son has been hit by a car, i remember sitting on the couch in the living room and the copper asking me "Are you sure you are ok", "Are you sure you do not need to go to the hospital" and my faither saying "Bit of a thick skull on that one"......back out playing football in the Cul-de-Sac within the hour but the poor women that hit me was in a helluva state and was taken to hospital with shock Irrellevent i know but it does rile me when the numpties zoom up the road on a mission Grant

<< Sorry to high jack the thread a bit, but am I going to be ok with my 1 CAT in the up-pipe? I removed the Centre and Down-pipe CATs now. I also removed the centre box and replaced the back box with a STi standard box to keep the noise down. >> There is a chance of the pre turbo cat breaking down when you up the boost level Cat breaks down and bits fly into your turbo equals dead turbo Best decat the up pipe Grant
-
Sounds about right and i would add in a £85 fuel pump as well The gains from the remap and decat will be more than worth it Grant
-
On a std Blob-eye ECU it will try and throw a Check Engine Light and possibly overboost like crazy. To be safe and get the best result from the decat then get it remapped just after the full decat is fitted Grant

It is true i am afraid Stephen It is part of the Type Approval for new cars and also mentioned in the "Construction and Use" regulations. GPS type equipment will give a reading approx 10% over the cars own speedo reading. GPS displays 63 - 64mph and the cars speedo displays 70mph Grant
