Use it, absolutely, for all the reasons everyone else has said and likely a few more ! You'll wonder why you didn't hear about it / use it before once you've finished the protecting bit and see the results and how long they last...not to mention what you see come off on the bar! As Del says though if you drop it chuck it, think of what it has just picked up and what it'll then do to your paintwork. I've used it on a car with 400miles on the clock and still pulled contaminents off. There's a few choices of claybar & lube but the Megs one is probably the most accessable. This link can help read more about it if you can be bothered going through it.... http://www.polishedbliss.co.uk/acatalog/decontaminating-paint.html

Aye the splitter on a newage is a nice addition indeed - just watch out parking nose in etc, catches very easily.

Pain in the backside mate !! Plenty folk out there don't appreciate the care you take of your car and just squeeze past running a zip/bag along it, open a door on to it, and think nothing of it. Are the marks so deep they can't be machined out, i.e. does your finger nail catch in them when you lightly run over it?

Really liking the RS Bobby - just the colour I'd go for as well ! Have to admit the RA round Kames was quite impressive, even for its age and being standard.

Mmmm, looking good Barry, liking a lot.

Never actually done my own, but from previous chat believe there are a few little tricks used, but if I were to do it I would : -Heat up as much down behind the letter as you can get at (e.g. hairdryer or heat gun) doing a little at a time, loosening the sticky adhesive with something like fishing line. -Try resist just pulling the letter off as soon as you get grip through being impatient, get the heat on to it and it should start to feel a little easier to remove. -There will very likely be some adhesive to shift after the letter is off, something like autosmart tardis (great product) or autoglym tar remover. A quick wash if you can after using tardis/tar remover. Think Rigpig has done his??

You can get the paint depth all checked out by e.g. Paul at Ultimate Shine (resides on here). He'll tell you for sure if a machine polish is possible and/or worthwhile for sure. If it is for a respray then wouldn't be too worried about it come sale time, if they ask just be honest that due to its age and your pride in the cars looks cause of some dulled areas you had it resprayed. Depending on how the work is paid for (being your cousin that'll be doing it) if there's a receipt then maybe have it noted on there that it was just a respray & no panel correction/replacement took place. Take a few pics of it sitting in the bodyshop before and after (okay so a camera date can be messed about with!).

sssssh, doing my best to resist any

Not saying any of the below are best for price, but I was happy with service : Hoses - got my airbox hose from Revolution, and the other red bits is Autobahn88 from Zenaracing. Gauges & pod - looked middle last year but never got any and forgot what I found out . K-sport & uprated pads - isn't there a longish running group buy on SNet for K-sports (I dream of set for myself). Whiteline ARB's / drop links - I know Hypertech were doing free fitting, one place to check out (again be nice to have but more of a wish list than shopping list).

As a comparison kinda places I shop for car care stuff that may help you is : Polished Bliss - http://www.polishedbliss.co.uk/acatalog/meguiars-g220-dual-action-machine-polisher-cat10.html Clean Your Car - http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/polishing-machines/cat_68.html Elite - http://www.elitecarcare.co.uk/meguiars-dual-action-polisher-g220-and-free-pads.php?cPath=71 Many do starter kits, maybe you already have pads/polishes/cloths though. Also depending on whether you have some accessories there are other DA types such as kestrel. No idea if you'd get them in time for Xmas from the above. The first link on the list is Aberdeen area.

Surprised you've decided to let it go Chris given how much time you've put in to the car. Although most of the engine chat was way over my head it was a great thread to follow and showed your dedication to getting the best at each stage from the build - a new project which can surely only be bigger and better numbers will be hopefully another great thread to follow. Was very interesting to get to see the car in the metal as well. Best of luck with the sale and same with this "secret" new build when the time comes, and good to hear your staying with a Scoob.

Well done all involved in this, whether it be being Santa or even just buying a raffle ticket. Such a worthwhile event in my opinion. The kids will definitely appreciate the pressies.

Ouch Keira . Hope it buffs out, if your finger nail doesn't catch in the marks chances are it should. These Evo's have no manners !
-
Oh, so are my recomendations not good enough to get one of those cheques Barry . Good you got it fixed Kenny, although not advised as dangerous still not nice to drive about with ! Barry does love working on the Subaru's, I have tested this theory out with a challenge or two for him just to keep him on his toes .

Good stuff. I probably checked about a few places when bought them last time but never know if there's better alternatives since.
-
"Best place to buy" ??? "Is there anything better" ? Always better to do homework before buying I feel. Is there something better than the aeroblades, or just as good as but not as expensive - now that's simple surely. Had wipers before that I found streaky, noisy and didn't last long. Really would like to try avoid that. Think they were about £30 last time. Bosch wasn't to be considered, bought few years back and unimpressed.
-
Needing new wiper blades for the two cars. Went with areoblades the last time and they've been fine. Where's the best place to buy them? Got them from dealer last time at an okay price but am sure there's cheaper places out there. Are aeroblades the best to go for ?

No idea if this is what you are looking for or if the price is any good, but saw it so in case you haven't : http://bbs.scoobynet.com/private-for-sale-general-17/859378-sti-02-04-17-alloy-wheels-with-tyres-5x100.html

Filled the car up to the top from half - reckon saved about a whole £1. Eh, when did the price reach 123.9 !!! (think it shows how often I put fuel in). Nearly drove into the car in front when I double took that ! 118.9 was such a bargain...not ! Normal 95Ron price 115.9, reckon more people would have given it a go if the price at least matched that. Poor wee woman on the forecourt freezing her bits off was telling me about her son-in-law who had a Subaru Evolution - bless.
-
Don't get me started on the last time it was worked on !! Do hope you aren't refering to my napper ! Good to see another opinion, think along the same lines when they were on. Given they are off just now swaying more towards leaving it for a couple of weeks and seeing if it grows on me or not.
-
Despite saying I would spend no more money on the car for a long time I took advantage of an opportunity to have the whole front of the car resprayed because the numbers stone chips were slightly spoiling the overall finish, and touching up / sanding down / polishing takes ages and not always leave the best finish. So, the decals on the fog light covers and in the middle of the splitter had to come off - and I can't find the spare ones !!! However, before going and ordering up new ones what do folks thing about leaving it as is and not putting any back on ? As it was before : and as is now (and I know it is dirty, since got it back seems to rain when I have any time, and it still needs a polish and wax of course!!): Although I was once told this couldn't be done I managed to get the grill surround coloured to match the bodywork (standard grey colour before)
-
Is that all stations, or is it different ones on different days ?
-
Be good if you have the name/number for the Dalmarnock guy gumball. Last ones I had were really good and have lasted really well, but they need to come off. I have a feeling I threw the spares out by accident, can't find them where they should have been.
-
Needing to take the decals off of my fog light covers. My past supplier is now no longer on here so looking for a new one. Anyone have any good quality recommendations of who I could use ?
-
My airbag warning light came on, switched engine off and back on again and staying on. Before I get it looked at by a garage any basic suggestions I could check for myself...and I mean basic ! Also would prefer it fixed rather than just disconnecting something.
