  1. I went to Cowdenbeath pretty much every weekend back in the 90's - I was even one of the eejits who waved a yellow flag down at the big stairs side for a season!

I remember Mr Speak - he is (or was?) married to Gordon McDougall's daughter i'm sure.

Me and the ex-fiance followed Graham Kelly mostly - we went down to Crewe, Barrow and some place down in Devon/Cornwall that I can't remember the name of.

My dad used to take me to Cowdenbeath, Newtongrange & Armadale back in the 70's.

I've seen a few horrible sites, like when Bill Batten in the F2 went over on his roof on the pit bend and the leaking petrol ignited - I think he ended up with quite bady burned fingers. And a wee kid nearly getting squashed by a mini when he ran onto the track at the end of a race. Best memory involved a great duel between Keith Standford & Graham Kelly in a soaking wet F2 final - Kelly got past Keith on the last lap and Keith returned the favour by putting Kelly up the wall after the final flag went. Kelly jumped out the car and flying-kicked Keith, earning the nickname Cantona Kelly. I remember when half of the main stand burned down too, and when the storeroom of the wee chip shop over the other side blew up during a race!

I don't think i'll venture up this weekend though - I thought the Racewall had been sold to developers?

He was married to her, don't know if still.

John Fortune put Batten on his roof, the fire wasn't John's fault but all the sh!t that followed earned him a ban! Unjustified in my book as it was no worse than any other week, just an unlucky outcome.

Remember McMillan's half shaft and wheel taking the legs from a marshall, it made you've been framed!

Harris broke a propshaft one night too, noone could fathom why he was rolling on the grass in such agony.

Ah, the memories. Great entertainment when the numbers are high and the quality of the drivers so good.

Stuart Kelly and Graham Kelly; now if Graham who was a superb driver had Stuart's b@llox then things would have been different. They had the best of kit but Graham just couldn't take it, Speak knew this and used it to his advantage, result Kelly would dive out the way and by the time he got on it Speak was gone, the message was simple if you bury Speak once, he'll bury you each and every time he comes up behind you and that is demoralising AND expensive!

If you get the chance, go this weekend. Apparently, I've been ask about, the English are a cumin! And all because Speaky loves the 'wall. Speak back for good too I hear.

Again, not my fault if things don't pan out as rumoured!!

Maybe it is sold, but the racin is on this weekend and I for one am going!!

  2. I used to go to Cowdenbeath religiously every Saturday night for years. I watched and grew to love and loathe Mr Speak in the F2s in a very Schumi type way. You couldn't deny his talent but you couldn't help hate him at the same time!

Anyway he moved on to F1 stock cars and I(not personally) had kids so there my visits ended! Just found on the web he was back out last Saturday at Cowdenbeath with a new car of his own and did pretty well but was put to the wall a couple of times (god help the poor souls who did that!).

Anyway the point to all this was how good the racing was back then, the F2s had so many characters, Speak, Bingley, McMillan, Harris, Kelly, Stanford to name a few and then all the big guns from down south when big meets were on. Saloons too with the Burgoynes and Purdie et all, Harry was magic.

There's gotta be some folks on here who went too and can remember these days. Maybe you go now? Or maybe you went in the early 70's as I did as a kid when Hot Rods were magic, Les Kay 64, anyone remember that? The smell, the noise.

Many memories and the main reason for posting is this weekend is an F1 world quali round at Knockhill at 6pm and an F2 world quali at 1pm at Cowdenbeath on Sunday. 1s and 2s will be at both meetings. Hot Rods are at Khill too. See GMP website or Racewall.net for more info. I'm not the promoter LOL but I reckon there MUST be guys on here who used to love this.

F1s at Cowdenbeath are a sight to behold.

I accept no responsibility if it's crap! ;)

Here's Speak last weekend at The Racewall

  3. Bloody hell, you're no bad at that! Can you give it 500hp too? Kidding

Wondered about yellow myself but it may be just too bright. Is that the yellow lifted from the cars graphics or just a close yellow?

I know I'm a cheeky beggar but could you do something with blue and yellow maybe, also white please and if you have the time something with the light blue tracer which follows the big yellow swooshes? Thanks for your efforts!

At the mo, i prefer the bottom one with the yellow stripe.

  4. If it's the same wheels that are changing colour, the angle doesn't matter mate. I'm at work at the moment but I'll be more than happy to take a look when I get home this evening if you like. :P

Go for it mate. Looking forward to seeing the possibilities.

  5. As the title suggests I'm looking for wheel colour options. My wheels are all blisters (and kerbed  ) and need refurbed. Can anyone help me with some options?

Remember it's same wheels as shown, although if it's easier to show a very similar style of wheel in a different colour then feel free.

All suggestions welcome. Except gold obviously, d'oh!

Sorry pic isn't full side on, I don't have one!

  6. Here's gratuitous shots of said parts

Pads are in the box, too expensive to risk flash photography :P

    Picture343.jpg

Hope it does what it says on the tin!

So here they lie on the workshop floor which is exactly where they will remain until Saturday as I'm too busy till then!

They feel very good, look very good quality, pads are thin though as the disc is very thick!

I'm trying to think of a real world test to compare their efficiency against the originals.

  7. Barry, Was it your son that asked the balloon guy if he could make a Subaru ? Brilliant !!

Yes, Nathan asked him to make a 'Subawoo' as he calls them. I didn't hold out much hope of a yes as he couldn't even make a horse for my wee lassie!!

Forgot to ask, how many people came in to Falkirk wheel park area and nearly drove past the car park - there was only about 40 Subaru's in the car park....how did you nearly miss us all ??

There were a few sniggers as some rather short sighted owners steamed right past. Scoops too big, brake upgrades required or maybe a trip to Specsavers?

  8. On the way back from Falkirk Sunday I had to pass a cattle transporter on the motorway, with some "coloured liquid" pouring out the back, sprayed all over the car...the wife was in stitches at me getting a run up to get past quick as. Oh well, needs another wash :P .

Och Colin, that's p!sh mate!!
