Well having tried them back to back there was no difference on a single stop, however repeated use is a different story.

I had a Vauxhall Viva. Finished laughing? Long story, two cars into one, shell never been on road (mechanic training vehicle) and donor vehicle. In the end it was a two door saloon, with the Firenza(anyone know what I mean) Droopsnoot fitted on and in white. Ran it for about a year then ditched the 1256cc sewing machine and fired in a 2300cc VX engine one weekend. Holy crap, that transformed things!!! Never kept it after that as moved into a more modern XR3i. Viva reg was TGA102R, no one ever forgets their first car no matter how sh!t it was.

Fantastic achievment by all involved, especially the main team. This picture made us feel very emotional, must have been so hard for Jimmy to do this, it's not even two years on.

After talking to you last night about your intentions, I know the guy personally who designed mine. They may look standard on mine but they were made to my spec and printed/cut as a one off. If you send me some info on what you're looking for, I could get him to do actual drawings which would show you exactly what your motor would look like, sides, front/rear even the roof. PM me if you're interested. Barry

What about clearance Clarence?

Sensible choice mate, it'll probably save you time in the long run too!!

My first reaction is the rear caliper bolts will be smaller. Interesting to see the outcome here.

Better late than never Kenneth . . . . I had those on before I uprated the discs and pads. I couldn't fault them, my PF stuff is certainly no better on individual applications. No more or less dust than any others I've used and I've got to agree with Stephen they've been ok for what I used them for. Hope they are good for you, you'll know on the next Lanark Meet!!
-
Can't remember and I only had them off about a month ago but the bolts may have a shoulder on them?
-
Did you get the discs drilled Kenny?
-
John You should try to get a combustion gas leak test done to be sure. just to rule out any head gasket problem.
-
Defo improvement Cathy, they look really smart

Like toothache and dentist Del, go to them and it's gone! You need to have it happen and then see what's goin on. Wait till one night this week and if it happens give me a buzz.
-
Could well be John, that's why he must check the 'start' power to the solenoid. What happened to yours John? Is it the head gaskets?

Couple of hours max

You'll need the cat to get the emissions down, it won't come down by servicing or additive, presence of a cat is not a test requirement, emissions levels are. A cat may quiten it enough to get through that part. Remember you can appeal the decision re the noise but it'll cost you and you're likely to lose if it's not standard cause that's the basic requirement.
-
Not at work so can't check the wording, the noise level we check is between 2500-3000 when doing the emissions test. I think it says clearly different from a standard system on equivalent model. That means a PPP would pass as it's not clearly different. A totally decatted system with one silencer is clearly different. I know, I have one! Cat needs to go back on for test, then off it comes, then back on when you fail a roadside check and back off again after you've had it cleared. Best to fit it with wing nuts

Does the starter solenoid click when you turn to start position? If so, dirty starter. If not, need to check power to solenoid from ignition start, try a wire straight from batt + to the solenoid wire, the one from the ignition. (make sure you're in neutral! ) I've got the kids this weekend Derek but happy to have a look mid week if you have no joy! Happy to pay . . .

I own an MOT station, I also am an NT and a Scooby owner with sunstrips, small number plates, no cats and loud loud exhaust. Firstly, you'll need a cat to pass the test, that's the bottom line. The exhaust must emit noise to the same level as a standard system on same model. There are no measuring devices and it is at the testers discretion to determine what is normal, clearly yours is not. We are not here to piss you off, we're here to follow a set of rules laid down by the powers that be. The test is ludicrously poor in some areas and good in others. As an owner I have invested between 50 and a 100k to build to suit and install and operate a test station. If we don't test to the rules we can easily be removed from testing, bang goes the investment and there is NO way back. It's well known as stated above that stuff goes on/off for test and straight after you can put it back how it was. The test is appropriate on the day, while the car's in the bay and still on our premises (unless we're putting a car back to the way it was pre test which would have caused it to fail) and half an hour later it can be altered in so many ways (exclude corrosion from that). I see it from both sides. If your car isn't to MOT standard then either make it right then change it back, or if you are so inclined get yourself an MOT from a pub, save the time to change. One thing - many, many cars, prob not so many Scoobs I presume because of the reasons we drive these cars, only ever get looked at once a year at test, never see a service, so see us as weeding out the dangerous stuff and not someone who's out to pick on you cause your car doesn't toe the line. Rant over. Oh, and all MOT stations should always come to the same result, the rule book is clear, experience is where the differences occur.

Finally managed to collect the parts from cusco kid, thanks Geo , on Tuesday night. Can't fit them as I need the car for tonight's meet. I'll make a start to it next week maybe, holidays and such like not leaving much time to fit it all in! Updates will be along soon.

Howdy Kenneth. More power? Have you ditched the better stopping in favour of more speed? Tut tut, it'll be fun tho'!!! I laughed at the title of your thread son, it made me have some unusual images in my head!

I emailed a question which was replied to the next day. This led to another question which went unanswered, went elsewhere after that. Courier can't be that bad, surely?
