  1. Thanks for your input.

    All replies appreciated!!! ;)

Can't remember what size I had fitted. Is there a standard set up someone would be sold if they didn't have

any preferences etc? I would've just gone with Grant's recommendations.

Mmm, standard ARB!! Well, Greers put my new ones on so hopefully my old one or another old one is sitting

    about the shop!

  2. I think it's a confidence thing.....for me and the missus!!! Not sure if she would go in the car if I did it! ;)

Thought about trying to learn to do stuff myself but like I say, it's easy when a garage is nearby.

Might learn for future reference but if I'm thinking about the ARB situation, Greers can do the pads while I'm

    there.

  3. Hi folks,

    As the topic asks.....

Last year along with Eibach springs, ALK and Whiteline droplinks, I had Whiteline front and rear ARB's

    fitted.

All seemed fine and an improvement on standard but over the months I was aware of the car feeling a bit

'skittish' when around 90 (on a friends private road ;) ). I put this down to the stiffer ride etc.

But a wee while ago someone else posted about ARBs and said that Hypertech suggested the rear ARB

only. Someone on the forum suggested the front ARB might be the cause of the feeling I was getting?

At the last Glasgow meet some folks were confirming this?

The car is a MY05 WRX and doesn't go on the track. Doesn't even get put into corners that hard so have I

gone a bit OTT or is it all an improvement on standard and therefore isn't a bad thing?

Is the front ARB really for a track car?

I'm asking the YES/NO question now as I'm due into Greers on Friday for new brake pads so can ask them to take it off.

I guess it can always go back on??

One thing though and excuse my ignorance!!!...but, when the Whiteline ARB went on....did a standard one come

off? Might sound daft but I have no idea if there was one there to start with!

I'm asking because I was never given the standard one.....if there was one!

    Cheers ;)

  4. I'm wondering if anything is likely to happen with this?

Jimdbm who was the original poster hasn't been back on.

    Jim???

As for people asking about price and dates.....from Andy's website, I think the lowest he goes to is £460 (anyone confirm or deny this please?) and the dates.....once it's all arranged, each individual contacts Andy to book a date

    that suits them IIRC.

  5. Gus is right go with Ferrodo DS2500 the standard pads are rubbish. Give Alyn at AS Performance a ring

    http://www.asperformance.com/

He will sort you out a very competative rate and knows Subaru's inside out. I use the DS2500's on my road car and Sprint/hillclimb RA and they work very well

If you give Alyn a ring tell him I suggested giving him a bell he would also offer advice on what is best for your specific needs  Dont pay someone to fit them its a doddle and can be done yourself in about half an hour.

Worth speaking to AS Performance. Had a chat with them the other day, told them how the car is driven etc

and settled on Ferodo DS2500 for the front (£130) and OEM+ for the rear (£45).

I was told the Ferodo performance pads offer 25% more friction over standard while the OEM+ offer 10% more.

As far as wear goes, they said that with the Ferodos I'd get about 90% of the mileage that I would get from standard pads.

  6. Sorry to hijack....but is there anywhere that would fit tyres for you if you've already bought them from

    someone else?

For example....Eagle Asymmetric 215/45/17 on Tyreshopper come in at £396 fully fitted.

Camskill sell 4 tyres for £340 (tyres only)

Would the difference be made up by what a garage would charge for fitting?

  7. Richie any chance of getting a copy of the offer, needing a new set of mats.

Robert, no need for a copy. On the leaflet it says:

"To take advantage of these special prices, please contact Sue Prescott by telephoning 01676 536136 or

e-mailing sprescott@prodrive.com and quoting McRae Gathering offer.

If you're interested, there are other items....gear knobs, brake pads, discs, spoilers, wheels and suspension.

    Cheers

  8. Hi folks,

Does anyone own a set of the Prodrive mats and if so, how much would they normally cost?

I picked up one of the Prodrive special offers on parts at the Gathering and they have the mats

going for £29.99 which seemed good considering I've found places wanting about £60 to

    get WRX mats!

    Cheers

  9. Fantastic weekend. 543 pics were taken!!! Will hopefully find some good ones!

Got home at 0130hrs but had a good drive home. Was taking our time until all the scoobies were going past!

Followed a pair at a distance until they turned into Southwaite services.

Made the journey home fly in!! :)

Great pics so far. Great one of Jimmy by the car when he's pulled over after leading us off.

  10. i made only 1 stop on way home for petrol at ballieston from the test track

was passed by wilky gunning it home on the m74 and seafar passing me twice by the looks he had to stop for fuel and a few other newages

Yeah....about 350miles to the tank on the way down. Filled up before leaving, topped up with £30 at Charnock Richards....about a quarter of a tank left by home!! :)

  11. After reading the attendees pack today I'm JUST getting to grips with how big an event this really is going to be. VERY,VERY,VERY well done the 3 Amigo's for the tremendous efforts you have put in thus far :D

I dont think anyone can really appreciate how much time and effort you have put into getting this event together :D

    x 1000000000 % !!!! :barf:

Reading my pack was giving my goosebumps. I remember how I felt and the buzz we all had after last

year's meeting, although on a sad day, and can't guess how it'll be with the massive convoy at the weekend.

I'm thinking that in the SIDC New Years Honours List, Grant, Andy and Imy are given free lifetime membership!! :hl:

  12. Great road. Being from Dumfries originally me and a mate have been up there....on our push bikes! :P

It's quite a slog from the main road all the way up to Wanlockhead and then continue up to the weather station

    golf ball thing.

    Great coming down!!!

As for the Gathering....like Imy said, it's a one off. My hotel room etc will just go on the credit card.

With Mrs Richie being on maternity leave, money isn't the greatest but I've just got to go!!!

  13. on a serious note, i think its absolutely wonderful what the three have managed to pull off here.

An amazing amount of work involved, and it shows a couple of things.

Firstly, this is in my opinion the BEST thing any subaru supporting club could do, and these guys did it!

secondly, is there any BETTER way to acknowledge the pure love that all who knew Colin could be shown?

thirdly, i for one, am proud to be a part of this event, purely to show the McRae family what thier wonderful son meant to us.

People turn up to things that are 1000 times less important than this, i dont have any fear that sunday at prodrive will be AWE inspiring.

    WELL DONE to the organisers.

    :thumbup::thumbup::rotfl::rotfl:

I imagine that more than a few folk, myself included, have just been going about their business waiting for

the weekend to come around. When I stop and think about what you guys have managed to do...wow!

You can be very proud of getting this together and as a Subaru community, I'm sure we'll all be very proud

of how many will turn up to honour Colin.

    :P
