  1. How would you describe the sounds?

    Front or back?

The rear shocks seem to be a common fault but I've had knocks from the front.

One was cured by putting rubber hose round the bottom couple of turns of my spring

but I've got a metallic clank at the moment. Off to Hypertech for a diagnosis in a couple

of weeks. They said it might be something simple like the pin the brake caliper rattling

    over bumps. Here's hoping!!!

  2. where you based?

Meercat in Kilbirnie can do you a system like that to your requirements or you can order from places like Scoobyworld, TSL, H+S etc

    :)

Have one myself and you won't complain about the standard of work as the others have already said.

  3. This place is always recommended for bodywork repairs, I took my sisters car there and he did a top job.

    JB Coachworks

    Jim Biggam

    54 Well Street

    Paisley

    PA1 2QH

    0141 842 1465

I was going to mention them as well. Jim is a good guy and will show you all his colour charts and paint etc so you know that he knows what he's talking about.

I've been there for parking bump and was happy with the results.

  4. Excellent figures. Must feel brilliant to drive now !!

Been pulling together a few items to get fitted over the next few weeks but another BIG priority (baby girl) made me stop the spending short of stretching to the bigger turbo / STi intercooler / pink injectors. Maybe one day !

I managed to get the parts in before my baby girl came along....it just means that I hardly get to

drive it fast these days...let alone on high boost!!! :D:P

  5. It was a lwb van that stopped behind me as i said in my first post :D and there were at least 4 in that, plus 2 cars with 2 in each...so theres my 8-9. Its the way the junction works, your meant to go slightly further down the road and go around the round about i just did a u turn as it was quiet, so its fair enough i shouldnt have done it. But what annoyed me was their attitude towards me. The guy that took my details just stuck his hand in my pocket and fished my fone out, was like WTF! All he had to do was ask for it! Then when the other one asked if he could have the keys i said yes and put my hand in my pocket to pass him them and got keep your hands out! then asked for the keys again!

I guess it was because it was late, i had on a beenie, did something i shouldnt have and admitted to have a pint. But i was pleasant to them, didnt have anything in the car i shouldnt and passed the breath test so the least they could be is pleasant back! Is it true its an on the spot £30 fine for pulling a U turn?

You just said it was a van in your first post, not a lwb! In the normal vans there are only 2!! :D:P

Unfortunately not everyone can be nice...a bit like most other jobs. I treat people like I'd expect

to be treated myself but when you're dealing with someone you have high risk or unknown risk.

The hands out the pockets thing is standard. There are a lot of nutters out there and you can get small blades/guns and without checking you, you might be on the run for something serious.

If you're being searched, it's always done by us....regardless of how helpful you want to be.

I'm not one to do traffic but think a U turn would be a £30 non endorsable. Don't think it would be £60/3pts.

    We're not all bad :P

  6. how strange.

are they allowed to randomly search you and the car like that?

You can be searched which can be voluntarily or legislative. If for example it's a legislative search for drugs,

that allows us to search you and any vehicle you might be in.

With regards to all the cars turning up....sometimes it's a case of listening to the radio and being nearby...so

just going for a nosy but just because it's one car, you never know who is in it or how many.

Doing a U turn isn't the worst but sometimes it can be because we think the car in front/behind has noticed us

and therefore might have something to hide.

As for doing it themselves...can't speak for that. I wouldn't do it BUT if I got another call on my radio that took

me that way...I would rather than go further down the road to turn. Wouldn't put the blues on unless there

was a lot of traffic about.

Nick...8-9 cops in 3 cars? Usually 6...were they crammed in!!! :D

  7. If you get caught without any insurance they car should be confiscated, no question about it

At least that does happen. The car can be removed for no insurance or if you don't have a licence.

It stays in the pound until you turn up at the police office with valid insurance. Think you have 2 weeks

    before it gets crushed.

  8. As Arch said....that was my exact problem. Do you have Eibach springs? It just seems to be the slightest of

small holes or bumps and I'll hear a noise.

Already had hose put round the springs but getting it re-done.

Eibach have a 5 yr warranty so I should be able to get them replaced ok.

  9. At low speed, and over any little hole/bump, I get a metal on metal clunking noise from what I think is my front drivers side. Thinking it's the shockers as the whole of the front end has been checked with the drop links/arb's etc all ok.

With my Eibach springs the ride is bumpy enough so don't want coilovers etc.

If the oem shocks are duff...what do I go for?

    Cheers

  10. Sorry to hear about that Noel.

Putting my police hat on....it can be quite difficult tracing a car if no reg plate or partial plate was

noted but on the upside, if the boy is local, the cops should catch up with him.

That's the advantage...or disadvantage...of having the car we all drive. Not a huge amount of

    them about.

I know the scoobs on my beat :)

  11. Hi Chris.

Hopefully getting somewhere with the EGT. Checked today and the solder was fine and resistor working.

The meter said it was a 3.2k ohm resistor and Andy thought he gave me a 2.2k one. Waiting for a reply to see

if this what might be the problem.

Monday will be another day of checking for the clunking!!! Got some new rubber seals for the mounts...I think!...so hopefully the cause will be found. Might be the good old shockers!!

At least I'd know what it was!!!

  12. What a not so nice surprise that is!!!! :)

After the mods and while on the way to Andy F, the CEL light came on for high EGT.

Car still drove fine and then I had a resistor put in and the light didn't come back on.

    Everthing has been fine.

Then this afternoon I'd been to Braehead with Jo and Abi in the back.

Stopped at the Phoenix Retail Park in Linwood on the way home and when I pulled out at the McDonalds

roundabout I had a massive loss of power and the CEL light came on.

Got off the main road and the AA came out, cancelled the alarm and followed me to Greers.

The alarm code was for the EGT again so hopefully it's just some of the solder on the resistor that's came

off. I had a blast on boost near Greers but the light stayed off.

Just wondered why I didn't feel the loss of power when the light came on when I was going to Andys??

If the solder is ok when I get it checked, how do I have the confidence to go for overtakes if I'm thinking it

might still come back on! ;)

That's just me....never mind the wife when she's got Abi in the car!!

At least I'll be mentally prepared if there's a next time!!! :)

  13. Richie, is your car a 2.0 litre Blobeye? I'm slowly collecting a similar pile of bits for my wife's WRX, with the exception of the VF34 - I intend getting an Andy F TD04H to keep the drivability for her. If that is the numbers you made, then 310-320 is what I'm looking for and doesn't seem to be too optimistic .

    Yes mate. MY05 Blobeye WRX.

When I decided to go for it, I read up other posts on what folk on here did to their WRX. I wanted to

keep the gearbox/clutch as safe as I could and didn't want to have to get forged internals etc (I think that's right?? )

Also looked at Andy's website and the different stages. Initially thought that Stage 2 would be good then thought...what about Stage 2a  .

Stage 2a is supposed to be 300-320BHP and so my result was a bit better. Andy said I could've had another

10BHP if it wasn't for my Prodrive backbox.

As for driveability....Andy puts the boost on a high or low setting that's interchangeable via your rear de-mister.

My low boost is set to about 250bhp with hight at 334bhp. Andy can alter the low boost to what you prefer.

  14. Well done Ritchie  however my friend it will not be long untill your posting again, with your new plan for more horses and tourque lol, the bug will bite even harder....

    Regards

    Chris.

    NO!!! NEVER I TELL YOU!!!!

You heard it here first!!!!!
