is it a classic, as mine is a bit slow, but I need a new battery, it's pretty gubbed
-
oh one other thing, the film is cheap, it's only around £12 + p&p for enough to do a set of lights, I managed to get front and back done with 1 set however it looked rushed and messy, did it again a lot better.
-
With I bought the film, flyeye I think and it's very easy to apply and it says it's legal as it doesn't interfere with the pattern but I would say it diffuses the light a bit and it's much more obvious in the flesh... Without

I paid £6500 3years ago for mine with 29k on the clock, so yeah it's a bit on the steep side.... I would deffo go for the Sti V6 though
-
they tend not to work in cars as the uv is filtered out

 looks good from that angle ScoUk

Mine are illeagle all round but I didn't want the van look so went for Limo on rear screen, slightly lighter on rear doors then slightly lighter again on front, been on a couple of years and so far so good. It really depends on the weather and direction of light but with the limo black on rear it does make it look darker inside. Before After

first port of call for me would be MAF, I have had two in three years and very similar issues, do you run and induction kit or standard airbox? inductions *can* be worse on MAFs.
-
it'll be down cause VAT's going back to 17.5% so it'll go back up again. Then again they will probably just put it up again anyway
-
barry thats spot on old boy, adds that wee bit aggression that the bug eye lacks...
-
usually D&G is the worst bit for them

This was the sympton of my last MAF failure, absolute no power in the middle of ovetaking as well, got it home swapped MAF over and away we went, however I have also cleaned one in the past and you have to remember to reset the ecu when you do, you will need to do this when you replace anyway
-
I would agree with steveairdrie on the MAF thing sound similar to a problem I had with my 99model when I got it ran like a bucket of bolts at 3k revs the maf sits between the filter and the turbo and yeah measures air volume and quality (i think) and adjust fueling to compensate, if it's mucky then it reads incorrectly....
-
I would say either MAF is on it's way out or the idle control valve or at the outside the O2 labda sensor.... most likey culprit I would say is MAF.... the surges at around 3k revs I get all the time and was told it's a quirk of the software/ecu of the 99 model....

I personally wasn't up for spending the Defi sort of money, I have autogauges ones and they work also a full range of colours to choose or you can even make them change colour in sequence either as a flick between colours or a fade in fade out ( but mainly have them white background green light and red needle)

Ahhh mine was rusted solid anyways so it had to be the hacksaw
-
I think there is actually a wee bracketty thing in there that originally would have allowed the hose to be unclipped but that pic is just like mine was and it's usually rusted in there solid, I had to hack saw through my brackets to change my struts as you said a pain in the rear end and a couple of skint knuckles :}

had my car 2 years now and still to find out what it's like in the snow, feels like we are the only area not to have had any but on the ice the ABS does kinda kick in early, I usually change down the gears for slowing anyway so no major hassles unless it's an emergency stop.

I had similar with mine, found my ARB wasn't as tight as it could have been

Agree completely; and I think that all that can be said really is that there is NO stopping the accidents because we all react differently to the messages, I think that there are those who these hard hitting ads will work for but also that the more softer, shall we say more emotional ads (as the PC's on here have mentioned) where a PC or Paramedic's emotional response to the traffic incidents will work better. Perhaps if they were to alternate the type of ad we see so that the impact is paired with an emotional response. .... I dunno .... Having been in a couple of accidents, both as a passenger and as a driver and having been a witness to a fatal, I can only say that I drive today with a much greater awareness of what can happen but have found myself driving, shall we say inappropriately, and have asked myself why. There is no answer, yes there may be a "switch" and if there is it's the "not going to happen to me" one. As ScoUK has mentioned modern cars wrap you up with safety and control, but when it goes wrong ultimately the driver is to blame (to a greater or lesser degree). I have always said that if I was ever to cause an accident with a loss of life I would never drive again. The Gods forgive that it never happens.

Aye gone are the days of seeing young johnny throwing his Frisbee into the substation and getting fried retrieving it, ahhh the public service adverts from when I was a lad, kids today need that fear of death fired into them!

Where To Drive (and What To Do) After The Mcrae Rally?
jae replied to Nords's topic in Scottish Scoobies
unfortunately we have picked the very same weekend to have an "end of season" run or else you could have popped in on the way there or back again DGScoobs end of season run -
well just having put black stripes, onto a green classic, I am a bit biased. I like the stripes. the "shake n bake" a bit "talledaga nights" a film I hated so i would loose that but it's still a distinctive motor, and you will get folks moving outta the way when they see it coming up behind

what kind of "spluttering" problems, I believe that the 99MY are prone to slight "fluttering" at 2500-3000rpm on light throttle, or at least mine does . very slight surging... wrong word? maybe maybe very subtle hesitation.... not sure how to describe it but it's there! I think it's classed as a quirk or characteristic

Ohh theres permanent average ones around ayr, a bit of a pest to be honest
