About jae

  1. it might seem like trying to keep the banter out of the forum but that's not really what I mean, and it is interesting that this is one topic that people actually have an opinion on hence its one of the longest threads in a while. Please do take note that although I mentioned the cliquey thing and the dustballs floating through on a technical question this was my first port of call for said question, it is about just getting in there and asking, but as a newbie back then it was like being billy no mates and you think that the whole 'community' is just nonsense. I don't think there is an easy answer to this its little things and put them all together and then there are external influences that as a forum and club you can't control that can change peoples circumstances. Also with more people you do get more arguments you can't like everyone in the club and in our case there almost was two camps within the club and that's not good for the life of the club. :-(
  2. Hey Guys and Girls, just thought I would put my 2ps worth to this never-ending discussion. I am on impreza no 2 in 8 years when I got my first classic it had a problem and googled forums, SIDC came up so I registered and asked my question. As with most technical questions you end up with half a dozen possible answers and eventually got sorted out. Those that replied were helpful and I was happy. (condensed version). As time went on I did begin to find that it is very cliquey and watching the Was It You forum was never "spotted" (I must be really unlucky as I have done really quite a bit of running around now in 8years and 2 cars and still never been spotted ) Our local club grew and got nice and busy, we had 30 cars for a run, but as with most things a power shift changed things and it went downhill after that to being practically non-existent now. Attitudes change circumstances change but what has pushed me away from the forums, I am registered on .net also, is.... life... I suppose kids, work, dreaded DIY, money worries, car blowing up. Hopefully things are on the change now..... My advice would be be less cliquey, I understand folks want to have a laugh with their mates but if a topic is 6 pages long and 5 of those pages are pals taking the p.i.s.s out of each other then anyone looking for info is going to get fed up and go elsewhere. I recently posted about the UK300 headlights and it has had 126 views and G1983 is the only one to offer anything. Really? no one has, experience.... advice.... any input at all? (I have been chatting to KennyUK about it, and unfortunately for him he will be my go to guy ) This isn't a complaint merely an observation. But baring in mind this was my first port of call for advice knowing that most folks on here are helpful and knowledgeable. I know I don't think I have made a point (oxymoron there I think) and now I am rambling....
  3. Gordon thanks for that and I have been talking to Kenny about this little issue. And just as a wee update for anyone with the UK300 Hella lights and they want more 'white' light than the standard 'yellow' from the capped sidelights it's a bit of an issue. The LED one's don't work (that I have found) and tried both canbus and non-canbus ones. However I tried fitting the capless blue sidelights that I had for the classic into the caps of some LEDS and with a little fiddling, they work. May need some adhesive to keep them from moving inside the caps but job's a good un . jae
  4. Hey folks, this is a wee shout out to those with UK300 lights and the fitting of LED bulbs, I have tried various ones and not been able to get them to work, tried ones for canbus and ones for not. The lights look to be adapted from the standard wiring as there is the standard bulb fitment behind the unit and separate wiring for the lights plugged in, can anyone assist as I am tired of the pale yellow of the standard sidelight bulbs.
  5. hey folks, haven't been on for a wee while but am looking for a wee question sorted out. i had alittle bump with the car in the snow and need to replace the bottom alloy wishbone on the front passengers side. now question is will an sti one fit onto a wrx (2001 bugeye uk300). or is there some difference......
  6. Sorry to hijack the thread but just to expand on this question a bit, I have a UK300 which is *just* a WRX however it's been decatted at the centre section and I have the decat for downpipe and up pipe to go on. When these go on I suspect the CEL will be on? Is there, by going from the diagram above, a 02 sensor in the up pipe and if so what do I do with it if the decat doesn't have a boss for it? Will it NEED to be mapped, currently not looking for the extra grunt but a bit more sound. Thanks and sorry for the hijack again.
  7. unfortunately you have to put the UK300 onto a fault reader unlike the classics. I would recheck all pipes in relation to the boost solenoid and turbo for splits I had one that had gone brittle and snapped off in my hand due to the heat from the turbo I think. What happened when you tried for boost?
  8. That must of been what happened to mine, I know I just had to replace the wire from the solenoid to the pump and away she went.
  9. Have you had this sorted? I had the same problem with my classic and it turned out to be a bad connection up in behind the dash, just around the fuse box in the drivers footwell. Not the fuse box its self but running to it, bit of a bugger to find but got it in the end. (My breakdown guy ran a wire from the tail lights so I had an additional immobiliser (no side lights no go ) )
  10. well deal is done and now the new owner of the above car, bit of a trek upto dundee and spotted a black wagon with tinted windows at the roundabout in front of the railway station. unfortunatly no PPP and boy I noticed the accelaration difference but I'll work on that, certainly feels more planted on the road though, maybe a PHP?
  11. I have been with "more than" with uk turbo and it has just died, engine failure, now they won't insure a replacement. Apparently they don't insure "premium" cars!!! My renewal isn't until September. If I cancel do I lose my "no claims"?
  12. aaahhhh Barry every time I see this car I think "so close and yet so far"
  13. you know the green classic has been the hardest car to replace in my life, It's taken me weeks to try and find cars that I like, and Gordon yours is one, and I am tying myself into knots looking for something that I can't put my finger on.... I want Around 250 up bhp cause I got the classic remapped by AndyF I actually don't WANT blue (but....) I initially wanted a type r but insurance company doesn't like imports and not keen on spending the money on an older car... It really just needs to catch my eye and This Bug did but lost out by £200 so I feel like I am bouncing around from car to car at the mo.... stressing myself out... getting nowhere fast.
  14. Ebay no #200591442016 Red with a little black, and carbon effect on spoiler, like it too high a mileage for me though.
  15. worst thing is I wasn't wanting a blue scoob!!!!! but have seen one with some black mixed in and liked it, liked it alot.....
