have thought of that. just strange that its only on full throttle at exactly 5k for a short second then goes. if exhaust is blowing i'd have thought it would carry on all the time after it starts. have looked at intake and looks ok. no signs of splits.

i'll have a look at the intake pipe to check. its just strange that it's always at 5k, gives a quick chirp then dissapears. doesn't do it unless full throttle. even going through revs quick but not full throttle it doesn't do it..

it's not the woosh, had that on my last impreza with a prodrive exhaust that I'm worried about. It a high pitched whistle/chirp that's got me slightly concerned.

the man that posted above you cal. I believe he got it from the state's. FPAN it sounds good got a vid of it on my phone last night but not sure of quality. Was just wondering what the whistle/chirp was though at 5k. Wondered if it was the sudden extra rush of exhaust gasses when the VVT comes on song as it only does on hard throttle. You can go through 5krpm and it doesn't do it. It's quite load outside the car aswell.

I think there even worse. just look at an f1 car and how they shatter at low speeds.

cal's correct. Quick question though. Does the VVT on the STi come in at 5k rpm? as at 5k there is now a whistle/chirp.

I tried your parts department today but they seem to think that it's part of the bumper so to save my sanity in trying to explain so I thought I'd get the part no from someone here then get a price but as you say I will phone tomorrow when I get a chance. Mark
