  1. hi m8 never skimp on any lubes ///always go for the best at the time geo
  2. hi m8 contact autoglym or autosmart and get some tar and glue remover ,this will soften the glue so you can wipe it off without damaging the paint finish .my son has is own valet bis /he uses it all the time because some paints are water based you have to be carefull what you use on them NEVER use cellulose thinners on 2 pack paint as it can degrade the top coat as we found out at mercedes cheers geo
  3. your a bit behind the times m8 he has been there for years geo
  4. hi m8 possible your water pump is leaking ,the rads crack just at the top hose area and is only visible when you cane it m8 get a pressure tester on it asap to check cheers geo
  5. the first thing to mod is the roll stiffness. the cars roll too much giving a very nervious ride . the front is wooly ,not positive and the overall handling is total p**h after doing my front and rear bars 22mm each end so far the car has been transformed here is front bar fitted rear bar + strengthening kit i am going to alter the stiffness of the bars to see whats the best combo plans fo anti lift kit springs poly bush kit and under braces . the wrx is even softer sprung than the sti and could with the bar and spring treatment . when i first got the sti ,it was nice to drive till it was run in and when i used its performance the roadholding showed that it wasnt up to the job this is a work in progrress cheers geo
  6. i think about 15 years ago m8 ,i retired from rallying in 1994 scottish tarmac series, my last run in davilla would be around 89-90 i think with my 3 door cossie. i remember malcom wilson using the first escort cosworth as course car on the scottish rally .the weather was scorching and in dv he wiped the bogy time fook me he was fast .the times were counted at the end of the rally and if running he would have won it by miles great days when men were men and sheep were nervious cheers geo
  7. go and get your car fully checked out by a suspension qualified tec who knows scoobie suspension/coilovers .dont take the chance and diag/it your self ,it will only cost you extra money in the long run bud, you cant diag from a computer terminal it needs to be hands on cheers geo
  8. hi m8 remember on a scoobie the more you lower it the more bump steer you get,not a nice feeling on full suspension compression the car becomes a handfull ,but it can be totaly eliminated pm me and i will tell you what to do cheers geo
  9. it was used for years for rallying inc the scottish rally and sc /championship rounds ..the best parts of the stage were the yumps and the gate posts which claimed many a rally car ,or the split junction here is me at said juntion ,kingdom stages again many years later another part of devilla one of the best stages in scotland m8 ////a wee bit of history for you and right on your doorstep .now used for rambling and horses mountain bikes and dog walking What a waste of Great RALLYING ROADS cheers geo

  16. fitted new whiteline roll bars to my 08 sti last nite , front 22mm and on the rear 22mm also. here is how it went started with the rear first as it looked the bigger job loosend off the drop links first and the brackets that hold the bushes to the x member the new hatch suspension is different from the older cars, not as simple now with the rear 22mm bar fitted on to the car with the poly bushes and the rear wishbone nut removed to allow the fitting of the whiteline brace bar brace bar in place you are supplied all the hardware ,washers and longer bolts for the tubed bracket that fits on the bush cup and grease for the bushes total time for fitting 30mins ,then fitted the front. you have to remove the plastic undertray first when its off the car you see whats entailed ,its a lot simpler than the newage scoobies .no full xmember to remove but a strengthening bracket 8 bolts hold this on then remove the drop links both sides and the bush loop bkts the old anti roll bar on the deck in 15 mins new bar checked and ready to go on the car same as all the other scoobies classic and newage ,the bar points upward under the steering arms,:wonder: some guys fit them the other way round and end up fouling the steering ,not a good idea :nono: the bar fitted stg bkt back on ready for the undertray total time 30mins ,ready to rock and roll:cool: what does it drive like ,before i tell you here is what my wife says it used to handle like . A FOOKIN BOAT IN A STORM, well she is the expert . now the first impressions are , flatter cornering more stable at high speed ,entry speed into roundaouts increased with confedence ,exit more stable and gives a greater feeling of control . i did not like the way the car handled before  but after the honeymoon period of having a new car and being cautious with it i never felt like the car would go around corners even with the electronic gismos that are on it . i had one moment with her that i thought this it it big man were f***ed , on the entry to a sharp left then a sweeping right just after i encountered a slight undulation mid bend :eek2: she broke away hopping to the right ,caught it then secondary slide snapped full left :eek2: :eek2: :eek2: just managed to catch it back ///biggest moment in a while that would have never happend in my old sti (scooby glue)named after the reg no st ** pva . guess where i am going back to try this bad boy out cheers geo

  20. hi m8 this is a classic import circa 1995 ,this is also hyd/ you are thinking about the ram type with seperate pully adjuster that the ram pushes onto the cam on the mounting , this car has possibly had an engine change. cheers geo
  21. as you can see there are many pullys and also a hydraulic tensioner her is one of the tensioners ,there are 2 types on scoobys this being the earlier one with lock pin in to hold back the pressure in the piston this is what happens when a numpty changes a belt and leaves the crank pully loose hope this helps m8 geo

  24. hi cal dont want to rain on your parade m8 BUT its not a good idea the way you have done the brake pipes at the caliper 1)you dont have any support on the metal pipe 2)you have used a qunifer 10 pipe which will not lend itself to any vibration(vib cracking failure when turning the pipe could bend out of shape /// better using steel pipe and some sort of location bracket or better still take the flexy right into the caliper here is our caliper with flexy right into the caliper body i would only use c/10 on a bridge pipe that has non movable fixture if you look at my rear caliper here the pipe comes out the calip/body to a residual valve that is fixed to the back ot the cal/mounting //no vibration problems and no chance of cracking failures and is proteced bu coil wrap (stone protecter m8 cheers geo
