http://bbs.scoobynet.com/wheels-tyres-brak...ting-guide.html
-
never driven a classic so can't really comment on them but i do have a newage
that weighs 1290kgs from the factory with plated diffs and dccd so i imagine it might give
them a run for there money
-
nice 1 geo,i bet its a far better drive than the hawkeye
-
Coming along nicely Jim, got much left to do to it ?
ps: where did you pick up the mud flaps , nice touch
not much to do now frank, fuel line to run to front of car, breather hoses and fit
aquamist.still to fit seats, steering wheel, harnesses and quick release too but might leave that til
after its mapped.got the mud flaps from a guy on scoobynet.
what is the blue can for???is Toluene not the last "T" in TNT(Dynamite not the parcel mob).will be running 2 maps,1 for toluene, methanol and v power and the other for
v power only
HAHA never knew he was called that either. Im a Borhhed Bunnit as well, live right in the centre next to where theyve flattened the land for wht I only presume will be more bloody flats!! Good to know that other members are from here too!yea mate im a borrheed boy though i dont really like to advertise it nationally
after the amount of scoobs being stolen, looks like its been blown wide open now
though
25% Methanol + 25% toluene + 50% V-Power = 107 Ron race Fuel (or there abouts)was toying with the idea myself for a while
Graeme
not the mix i'll be running graham but close
-
The old rocket looks good, even today... but the new one is going to blow you away.
Nice one James
aye cheers man,and no chance of them hoses blowing off under boost
-
Just read this start to finish and i'm completely amazed at the work you're doing on this mate. Terrific job!
I found it hard re-fitting my bonnet catch, this takes it to a whole new level haha!
Awesome thread, looking forward to the next update
Cheers,
Shep
thanks for the positive comment mate, certainly isn't easy as the car is 25 miles away

GT 30/40 what bhp is this turbo rated at ?
my guess is 550-600 depending on fuel used
-
Jim, I bet they yokos on the new rims (which are stunning btw) could be exciting in the scottish winter!
yea probably mate but after my last experience in a scoob i'll be taking it easy
for a while.............................................. or 5 mins
-
cheers guys, not really been doing much else as i still need some fittings, gaskets etc
fiited front coilovers
gauges refitted
fitted mud flaps
part of the magic mix
some random pics lol
as standard
and not
the old rex
blessing in disguise

Didn't know you were going this far James, have you sorted out a suitable firewall yet?
would this not suffice?
-
Sheesh!
What's the reason for an external pump and what does the swirl pot do?
Keep up the good work!
in tank pump will feed swirl pot and external pump will feed the fuel system
its to eliminate fuel surge on track.........heres hoping anyway
-
thats 2 weeks gone by now and we're still plodding away
got a pillar pod the other day but had to bond it on to the original
fitted the fuel pressure regulator
also moved the defi oil temp and pressure sensors on to the block instead of
using a sandwich plate and wired the other senors ive added.changed diff and gearbox oil.
fitted the cold air intake after a bit of cutting pipework etc to get it fitting
had to make up brackets to house the oil cooler in the n/s wing
fitted catch can, just need to route the hosing
bolted down swirl pot and external fuel pump to the plate that peter kindly donated
and this is where it'll be going
just need to get some fuel hose, fittings etc.
fitted avcr too and defi gauges so starting to see a bit of light at the end of the tunnel

Gordy
cheers gordy
cant remember the last time my hands were clean!
-
sad sight indeed but at least your ok
-
It's like all your Christmases come at once Jim. Can't wait to see the end result.
not having to run a scoob for 7 months certainly does give you the
chance to save a bit.
-
nice wagon mate
-
Go on my son.....not long now..
did you book a map date?
should be running again in a week to 10 days depending on parts
coming from others.struggling for a map date as its a full day for
this bad boy!
-
True Jim
If all the fabrication i have done on the car was to have been done by someone else i would hate to see the bill
Higgy
Ps did you get the problem sorted that we discusseed?
yea mate and thanks for the advice,i might fettle a bit with the heights but
fitting was a lot easier after talking to you
-
No rain on my parade
I baught the sump because it holds almost 2 litres more than standard, and i intend on modifing the baffel that is on the car that i have at the moment. That i made myself!!!!!.
All of the oil return passages inside the block and heads have been dee bured and smoothened of to aid in quick oil return.
when i baught it i was not aware that the internal baffeling was as poor as it is, but ive not let anything on the car get me down just yet
Cheers
Higgy
thats it simon do your own thing, though i must admit if john gave me a
warning i would take heed as he has been there and done it long before us
-
well heres tonights update:started fitting the new fuel lines
and then gary decided he wanted a buzz of the fuel
and heres the new lines fitted, just need to make a bracket and fit the fpr
also fitted turbo inlet hose but the diameter of the insert pipe was too large
so cut it to size and then cut a strip out of it so it would close down a bit
then had to try and fix the other barrhead bomber as coming up the road last
night i done a nanaki(pulled my knob right out its housing)
so tried to get it sorted tonight but need the correct circlip
-
Jim, this thread is the better than a soap opera it's got a real " wits happened noo" feel to it. Take ma hat off to you bud!
BTW is that AMES tape on the headers?
Kevan
cheers kevan,if only it was ames tape, then i wouldnt have to pay for it!
This downpipe has been on the Chinese chocolate block,McTwist WR seX,Jimser, Rex,GaryD and now back onto Barrhead Bomber.Must be a record of some sort.
yes indeed peter that system certainly has seen some action in the past, and has the biggest
snakehead ever made i believe
Enjoying the thread, and learning a lot!!Everything looks so shiny .. and you're making it look so easy!!
It makes me want to try and tinker with my engine, but then it passes.
cheers mate, some of the work is easy and theres the other little jobs that
you think are going to be easy that turn out to be a PITA,cant beat the self satisfaction
of doing the work yourself though(with the assistance of a couple of friends)
-
LOL! What is it? Its so blurred I can't see it. Just as well you are better at fixing cars than you are at taking pics Jim! Looking good
Why just the rear for COs? Or is it just that you haven't fitted the fronts yet?
not fitting the fronts until the strut brace goes back on (for mounts)
I could be wrong but it looks like the control unit for his central heating, another reason why fitment is such an issue.sure is colin, need to get up earlier to catch you out
-
excellent thread jim
hurry up and finish it please
where the for sale list
cheers gareth, not got that much for sale as i'm keeping ALL
standard parts just in case
-
yesterday we fitted my old meercat exhaust, gary had it on his car but
took it off when selling.the downpipe of this system has now been on 5 cars
and the rest of the system 4.
downpipe wrapped
not all plain sailing but got there in the end
also re-fitted radiator and power steering reservior and other bits and bobs of re-connecting
hoses etc.
did have a bit of a worrying moment when i realised i had a bit of chocolate on the block
not good at all!
tonight we fited the rear coilovers
even managed to get craig on the job(yellow on here)
and heres another gauge ive decided to fit ,not sure how to wire it though?
thanks to geo(cusco kid)for getting the coilovers for me and simon(higgy) for
his advice,much appreciated guys

right back to the serious stuff!
on thursday we fitted new fuel lines from tank to swirl pot etc and new line
to front of car.fitted oil cooler fittings i had been waiting on and in-line thermostat.
had a couple of issues-fuel leak from injector but changed the o ring and that was that.
fpr turned out to be faulty so had to re-fit standard 1 to get the car running, and it done as
asked first time
.also had an oil leak, which turned out to be the seal at the modine.
fitted aquamist today, new battery/box,re-fitted firewall, took out rear seatbelts.still got little
bits and pieces to do but nearly there.expected it to take a lot longer than 3 weeks![:rotfl:](https://sidc.co.uk/uploads/emoticons/default_rotfl.gif)
