Was chatting to Grant at Knockhill about this guy with a plastic cake box on his head at the Granite City Rally this year, and as sure as I couldn't make it up, he was walking about the Mcrae stand minutes later... wearing the same jacket and everything... couldn't beleive it, but thats when I realised that I never posted this pic...
-
Its not???? I never even noticed when I drove past it yesterday on my way to Knockhill... Think I was on autopilot... Never passed it on the way home...

Baz, Just had a look on Whiteline's website, and sure enough, they have a very detailed article on teh Anti Lift Kit... http://www.whiteline.com.au/articles/Effec...0WL%20ALK_b.pdf Check out the Whitline website, plenty of good info on there, and they generally are not wrong... http://www.whiteline.com.au/index.php EDIT: also to add, Geo (Cusco Kid did some very nice threads about just such a subject, you should check them out... he REALLY knows what he's talking about...)
-
Well I have the Lightweight, and its plenty warm enough, and you can always wear a jumper if needs be... its not too light, not too heavy... The Heavyweights might be good, but i dont think that they are £144 good!!!! and unless your terminally cold... Personally, I'd take the £65 (IIRC) Lightweight option... and I went to the Stealers for my one... but I recall that Scoobyworld are also doing them... http://www.scoobyworld.co.uk/catalog/index.php?cPath=196

Well you posted pictures if it only one month ago, so we've all seen it... Fair enough, changing the Hatch, as that's what the STi has anyway. But I'm fairly certain that John was more referring to changing the layout of the newage... His opinion is very much valid.

hey mate, nice to meet you, and hope to see you at an event again soon!

Ok, well certainly you should have no problems with going with the Coilovers then! Drop Links, are the link between the chassis, and your anti roll bars, they are plastic as standard... so they are just taking a bit more flex out of the roll... and along with the Roll bar, makes a huge differnce, and they are really easy to fit yourself, in no time at all... Oh, and theres 2 trains of thought on the ANti roll bar thing... One Camp say, 22mm Front, 24mm rear, but then some say thats just too harsh for road use... then theres 22mm rear only, thats what I have and thats just great, not harsh, but very big improvement. The H Brace, I could probably give you a better answer if I weren't so tired... but its for stiffening your chassis more... but as for what difference exactly it makes, I'll leave that answer to someone who could explain it better than I can... Anti Lift Kit, I can explain better though, basicly, all its doing, is when you are putting the power down, it stops the car physically lifting up (you know how it goes, back end drops, front lifts) which in turn gives you more grip when your putting the power down... and keeps more traction on your steering wheels... The roll cage question, I cant really answer that definitively, but I think that it depends on the Cage, some are stronger than others, eg a welded in cage is stronger than a bolt in number, although I could be talking out the hole on that one... Sure someone can correct me there... Dont think that its that big a compromise really, if your not using it as a daily runner, then you;ll probably forgive it... REALLY Big money for that kind of gear Ive heard... Nae bothers... Hope I've not been feeding you a pack of lies...
-
Well there is plenty threads on just this subject mate, but really it depends on what kind of level of drive-ability your after, and what you want the car for, ie: is it a daily runner... Think the best place to start would probably be, upgrade the Rear Anti Roll Bar to a 22mm, and Drop Links all round, that's just for starters, not too expensive, but real good mods to improve the handling. Then from there, you can be fitting the H-Brace, the Anti Lift Kit, replace the rubber bushes with Poly bushes and Strut Braces, although, some say that the impreza doesn't need strut braces, as the chassis is pretty solid anyways... Of course, you also want to think about your suspension too, if the rears are knocking again, then it might not hurt to get them replaced now, then take them off and save them for a rainy day. The fit Coilovers... but again depends on how harsh you want the ride to be... Some people dont mind the ride on some Coilovers, but again, is it a daily driver...? how much could you live with? Also, some Coilovers are better than others, just a case of seeing what the guys will recomend... theres a few popular sets out there... And finally, once you get that sorted, remember and get your Geometry done...

You'll probably find that they CAN go to that power... but then... why would you really want to? To my mind, it would be uber unrelieable, would handle like crap, and would only serve as pub bragging rights... I'm pretty certain that you'd want something thats the best of both worlds, its powerful, AND goes round corners... -
Cheeky bint!

Meercat. Every day of the week, and twice on Sunday! http://www.meercat-exhausts.com/

Ok, so that sounds like the best option then, and if I'm honest, the most obvious option, I just didn't want to over-estimate what others would be thinking... Think I'll just go ahead and Book option 2 then...
-
So what's Peoples thoughts on when to go down then? The way I see it, you can work it one of 4 ways... 1) Drive down on the morning and back the same night. (Hardcore) 2) Drive down on the Saturday, and drive home after the event. (1 night) 3) Drive down on the Saturday, and Drive back on the Monday. (2 nights) 4) Drive down on the Sunday morning, and drive back Monday. (1 night) Anyone been thinking about this already? Dont really fancy booking anything to find that everyone is going to do something completely different?

In all seriousness (because I can be serious if I want to be...) Really, I'm not sure that there's anything that we could have done better, save perhaps, for a recce run, but everything was pretty well timed out, the routes were the best that could have been, and the attendees were well behaved all round. I also thought that the slightly more relaxed pace was great for the weekend run, although a faster pace is great for a one day event, its nice to not have to carry it the whole time, so for that reason, the day one pace, was nice, a big more *cough* lively, and Sunday more laid back, that I thought was great. Not sure though, how many places about Scotland that you could get away with having a 2 day run like that, but I wouldn't be against trying it. Serious about the food tho... Bloods the only appology were going to take! But nah, it wasn't your fault, Personally I blame Jen for not putting us off... I even hear that My sister-in-law was saying the place was crap... shame that message was never passed on till I got home...
