  1. Phoned KM yesterday for a quote for the Type R, got hold of Gary straight away, less than 5 minutes to get the quote. Good price considering as its a second car and catback and suspension declared.

Thank god for mirror policies had a quote from one of the main insurance companies £1270 as treated as having no no-claims as used on the current car.

  2. Well done to everyone who took part today and donated throughout the year. Cars were looking great, the tinsel brigade were doing well today didn't let the Subaru UK GB270 away without a bit of decoration and blitz Jac's car in 2 minutes flat. :)

Thanks to Karps for letting me take on the roll of Santa it was an honour and a privilege to represent the SIDC. A special thanks to Billyboy for lending me the suit.

Glad to see we didn't lose anyone on the way, the advice I was given to lead was to try to make sure everyone was behind, unfortunately due to the amount of tinsel, light-up signs and other decorations I couldn't see a thing behind me, so kept a steady pace and hoped for the best.

Yorkhill were wonderful sorting presents so we could visit one of the wards. Snow White and I were luck enough to visit the Orthopeadics Ward, the staff were brilliant putting names to the presents and taking us to see all the kids. It is a very humbling experience but also very rewarding, in total we were able to see about 10 children, I was able to spent a few minutes at each childs bedside and all were happy to see Santa and receive a present. Star of the day had to be a wee girl Caitlyn who had the biggest smile when she saw Santa, she obviously had had major treatment to her leg but was a joy to talk to and an extremely brave little girl.

Bikers did a sterling job as well although I missed the ride-by.

Yorkhill really appreciated the effort we made and say the present will go along way to make this Christmas better for the children.

A special thanks to Grant for moving my car, I know is against his religion to drive an Impreza other than a Classic, but swallowed his pride and got behing the wheel of a Newage. ;)

Merry Christmas to everyone and a Happy New Year. Ho Ho Ho

A special note for Jac, Santa has been back to his workshop, unfortunately the elves aren't to sure what a turbo is. Santa has instructed his research and development department to start a Tuning and Modifying Programme for next year. If your looking for more power I'm sure I can lend you Rudolph and another couple of reindeer for your next trip to Crail. :brickwall:

  3. The article is base on the information Ally-b had when I had to write this. Don't know if he has hear anymore since I checked with him Tuesday.

Can't believe there are only 11 cars down for Sunday. For goodness sake is for charity, its meant to be nice weather what better way to enjoy your car and give you a warm feeling inside at doing a little good for the kids.

Oh and another £160 raise thanks to my work.

  4. I think a lot of blame has to go with the businesses who will readily apply the tints to the cars for

    the customers.

Having never had it done, can someone tell me if they tell you about what's allowed or not?

Shopped around last year for tints for my wife's car and most places told me about the tints to the front windows being illegal, was also advised that a tint may be possible on the front window but it would be dependent on what level was on it already.

They would tint the front if you requested it but would have to sign a form declaring they had informed you of the legal issues.

One or two didn't bother but they were cut-price, back-street places.

  5. Just had an email back from "The Herald" wanting me to write a small article re: Santa Cruise for this week's motoring section. :kerstsmiley:

Seemingly tight for pace to hope it is included. Will try for a follow-up next week with a photo. So remember your cameras Sunday.

  6. You can put a turbo backbox on to a sport but it needs to be modified. I had a Peco exhaust for a turbo on my sport and got Motorsportworld in Strathaven to do the mod - £20 (cut the flange of the existing and welded to the bigger turbo pipe. You can also do it from the Cat back.

It also got me the burble I was looking for.

  8. Anyone know what this rattle sounds like? I've got a buzzing from the steering wheel/front of cabin when going over certain road surfaces. Getting louder and annoying (actually got louder once the wheel had been off for inspection)

Had the struts done but refused to refund the inspection fee (£40) what is the opinion on paying this? Obviously i'd rather not be out of pocket when there is an obvious fault and also a valid claim.

Failing that, anyone know how to get the wheel off so i can check it myself?

    5t.

Try phoning Subaru Customer Care 0121 747 4000 and see what they say about the inspection charge, guy I spoke to was very helpful.

As for the rattle/buzzing don't know what year your car is but I know Billyboy has had a rattle problem for most of the time he has owned the car (55plate STI) and still isn't fixed. If is not the steering wheel or column think it is a process of elimination, masking tape on different parts everytime you drive until you stop the noise.

  9. Thanks for that was looking at a nice set with 48 offset but do not want to have to buy more wheels if I upgrade brakes. Would love to buy the brembos but still to pay the shipping and get the car insured, although trying to get my company to sponsor the car which should cover the insurance. :rotfl:

    Thanks

    Robert

  10. ........ as a courtesy car.

Only while mine is in getting the up-pipe problem fixed.

What can I say about the new car, well I'm not a fan of the new look but it's a nice enough car to drive. Interior is nice enough although door cards feel a bit cold with not fabric insert, also sunvisor feels very plastic. Drive wise bit to much body roll and doesn't feel quite as planted on he road, I know I drive an STI9 which is completely different but I had a non-turbo bugeye before and think it was better.

Can't really complain as it is a courtesy car, and will reserve my final judgement until I see and drive the new STI.

  11. Just read this, shocking.

This sound like a scam. Buy the car threaten the seller to get money back. Turn up with the heavies lots of people would pay out of fear. You can then sell the mint car again for a good price, bob's your uncle a couple of grand in your back pocket and 50 quid to each of your mates for being the muscle.

Wouldn't be suprised if the car is up for sale in Glasgow in a week or two.

    Glad everything is alright.
