  1. if it`s for a trackday toy who gives a sh!T if it`s had a new wing and bumper? being a little fussy here aint we?

I think its a good buy for a track car. Have discussed and bounced this idea of Squiggle ;) who we all know has a great knowledge of classics and he agreed for the price it could be a good option but a bit more info would be helpful.

Have email the guy with a list of questions and if I get the right answers I could be making a trip up north.

As Jono400 is looking for his 1st impreza it would probably be better to look at something a little closer to home and with less risk. All to often we see imports running the wrong fuel, boost or oil and the inevitable happens -rebuild.

If I break my toy at least I still have my newage as my everyday car. ;)

  2. If you looking for a car there's a nice one on ebay. Engine hasn't been touched. Suspenion and brake upgrade, exhaust and air filter. Located in St Andrews guy won't accept any less than £4k. (Don't like the black wheel but they should be white)

Might be a better bet for first impreza. I'm sure if you find a car you like someone on here may know it or will give you good advice.

I'm looking for a track car so I don't need something mint condition, I'd probably just feel bad ragging a pristine car round Knockhill.

  3. Lol your all such law abiding citizens,The car park is on private ground so what law am i breaking, havnt any of you tried a donut or is it a case of you cant :D .This was my first ever attempt at it and i think i got the hang of it rather quickly who says that i drive about like an idiot, like the saying goes dont judge a book by its cover ;)

I quite agree we are not all saints and a lot of us have driver our car in a spirited manner when it has been safe to do so. Judging by the video you weren't the only one in the carpark and I am sure you weren't the only one playing in your car. Its the negative attention it draws to the marque that people are not happy with.

Scottish Scoobies was probably not the best place to post, outside the towns and city - where yes we do obey the speed limit (has happened on every meet and run I've been on) - we have one big playground, its called Scotland with some of the best scenery and roads you will find.

This is a community to enjoy the car for what it is, an amazing driving machine, not to show off doing stupid stunts.

  4. Thanks for the quick responses. ;) Don't want to trek all the way up just to be dissappointed.

As long as the shell was sound it would be ok. If I get an import i'll probably get a rebuild on the engine to be safe, so engine problems on this wouldn't be an issue.

    Great price considering mods :D

  5. Had a gurgling/water noise for my 52 plate Sport. Sounded like it was just the passenger side of the dashboard and happened when at low revs.

Had it checked a two dealership and and independent garage couldn't find a problem. Could get ride of it by bleeding the system but came back after a week or two. They all reckoned it was a tiny hole or crack in the heater matrix. Didn't cause and condensation and water level only needed a wee top-up every 3-4 months so wasn't a major problem just annoying.

Just checked the level regularly to make sure it hadn't got any worse the cost of fitting a new matrix wasn't worth it.

  6. Sorry wasn't me.

Fitted the gauges myself, dead simple. Sandwich plate for the oil and temp sensors + new oil filter. T piece, hose and some clips for the boost sensor. Run all the cables and a feed wire from the battery in at the drivers footwell. Fused power connection, earth, power connection for ignition relayed of the cigarette lighter and power connection for the illumination relayed of the ashtray light. Could have linked direct to but I'm always cautious when it comes to electrics.

Controller is fitted on the side of the centre console using some velcro stickers and then run the feed wire to the gauges popped the clock panel off to get the wire out refitted it and then fitted the pod using double-sided sticky tape.

If you don't fancy DIY you can always try Drivers in Glasgow they are a Defi retailer.

  7. A slap on the wrist and community service isn't going to stop people stealing. A bit of middle east justice would work a treat, chop their hand off (or at least a finger) for being a dirty thieving scumbag.

Controversial but guaranteed to reduce thefts drastically. :icon_salut:
