  1. Don't know what model of car you have, but could be your exhaust cover plates happened on my old sport. Welds and joint corrode and start to rattle, use to dissappear once the car heated up.

No real point in replacing them as you don't need them in the UK. I found the one that was rattling and cut it off.

  2. What chance have you got against that!

Remember the budget prodrive have for their cars, plus a professional driver and a big test facility, so you'd expect them to win.

Shows how good Andy and the car is when you consider all this.

  3. You'll be able to tell if it's gear oil from the smell, if it is then that would be the only possible explanation I could think of.

It is gear oil nice & clean and can tell by the smell. Really curious as to how this is happening.

  4. Definitely oil as all over the wiring above the pedals and gearbox oil level is at half checked it before KH and was full. Only gauge in the car is the boost and no signs of any others ever being fitted.

Hopefully get chance to look this weekend will post some pics of the findings as never hear of oil in the car.

  5. Just wondered if this has happen to anyone else, got back from KH and found drips of nice clean oil on my trainers. Would appear to be the speedo cable, not had chance to get in behind yet but didn't know if this is common or known problem.

Should say I have the converter fitted last year to change to MPH but never had a problem.

  6. get them up cal was your cam front or rear facing?

P.S was many scooby drivers getting fuel cut i was getting it big style out the hairpin unless i went really early

once i got to a baw hair over the half tank

I go the same today thought I'd grabbed 4th then realise I was under half a tank, topped the tank up and everything was ok again.

Was only managing 5 lap stints as discs were warped. Great day and good to meet a few new faces.

Think I'll concetrate on improving the handling as was catching the Lotuses on the straight but they were leaving me in the corners.

  8. Thanks to Hypertech and Mr F for sorting out the knock spike. :D

Car had develop what I can only describe as a spike in the knock level ( highest was 85) over 6k revs on full load with occassional overboost.

Duncan checked the simples things first fuel pump & replaced filter. Then ran injector cleaner in case the was a slight blockage. Still no luck so on the rollers, injector duty was fine but was running a wee bit lean top end. Tried a new Maf (best deal was Roger Clark) which brought the knock down to about 60.

Duncan thought great were getting somewhere, smoke pressure tested the system and found a tiny leak in one of the vaccum pipes sealed the hole thinking this would sort it and level had gone back up to 80.

Next injectors were taken out, 1 was slightly down but nothing to cause a problem, spray pattern wasn't great so a good clean and new seals.

Car was put back together and left as AndyF was over a couple of days later to map a few cars.

Andy checked the map and nothing had changed from when I had it mapped back in August. With the Apexi being eliminated Andy did a couple of runs in the car and tweeked the map and car was back to normal.

Only explanation is it was a combination of things Fueling, Maf and a leak. Anyway all fixed so a happy chap. ;)

Until Duncan total me my coilovers are past their best. :P Going to have to break this one gentle to Mandy in the last month I've had Road Tax, Insurance, Mot, Hypertech bill, new Maf and new HKS exhaust.
