If you don't phone A Plan you'll kick yourself....

My STI V3, was with Admiral for last 6 years. Latest policy was £485 (ok, I am 42..)

A Plan want £360 and they'll pass on the tracker requirement cause I've had the car 8 years.

My better also half saved money on renewing her Insurance on an RX8 moving from Diamond.

And we saved £100 year on our house insurance through A Plan..

Good bunch of chaps - and you talk direct to the guys in the office.

will give them a call tomorrow thanks for the information [Y]

Amazing the difference a postcode makes.

I have a MY02 standard WRX, with tracker, parked on drive in Houston. 5 years no claims (protected). Just renewed with Elephant for £694, with my girlfriend as a named driver (reduces the quote by almost £120 [*-)] ) If I still lived with my parents in and kept the car in Cumbernauld, the price would be another £100 less.

Excess is £400, and I have just had to claim! Now where did I put that credit card?

Mine was tesco by far £620 for 03 WRX wagon kept on the drive too and used for commuting. Did need a tracker though.

The next nearest was Keith Micheals at £700 but they wouldn't cover my no claims bonus as i had just had a smash. Its too important not to have it so i got the tracker. Next year we'll see how we go as tracker might bring some of the others down a bit.

iam 27 in april and have 5year aim  £405 with tesco woth tracker and cat 1 immob

thats is a very good price, TESCO qouted me £1450  [:)]

so far elephent is the cheapest. thats includes me and the mises £747. Can you guys tell me whats the different between 10months bonus accelerater and 12months annual payment is. Am not sure which one to go for but the qoute i get is for 12months annual.

Posted

don't quote me on this but i think the 10 months bonus is pay nothing for 1st and last month but you will end up paying higher payments over the 10 months in between. 12 month annual payment is paying the quote in 1 lump sum. my quote from bell was £150 cheaper if i payed it all in 1 go but charge extra for paying it up monthly.

Also the elephant thing just sounds a bit cheaper but the time you add charges etc on it's probably much the same. Admiral are pretty good as well and have given me 5 years no claims for free before.

hmm.. I thought bonus accelerators were to speed up your buildup of no claims bonus. It is normally the same price as the full 12 months you just pay it over 10. But you are given a years no claims for each 10 months of the policy. Running a bonus accelerator policy is a good way to build up NCB quicker.

I always thought they sounded like that had a catch though I can never work out what,

I've noticed a £200 difference by running the 10 month bonus accelerator and yes you get a years no claims after 10 months. Overall, if the equivalent payments were spread out over the 12 months, the 10 month is more expensive if you know what I mean? Monthly payments for a 12 month is less than that for a 10 month but you get the NCB 2 months early.

Well, having had a claim this month, insurance for me and the girlfriend for a MY98 turbo is £1200 FC on elephant with me as named, or £1060 FC with Sara! Think I'll go with the latter and buy a dirt cheap car and insure that so I get my NCB! :P)

all the qoutes above are base on none modify i believe. How much roughtly will few extra mods effects the price. the car am interested has a remaped, exhaust and i probebly lowered it sooner or later.

Remap is biggest cost - they generally add on the % power increase = percentage premium increase and anything about 25% they would not touch for me.

i wont be doing any remap for now then. another issue is my experience, i was qouted £1500 from A Plan. This will be my very first subaru so the insurance is very high

I've just tried getting a quote on Peoples champion.com....!!

I know it sounds as though its a site for old farts, but it gave me back a quote from liverpool victoria for £332. That's for a 30yr old, with 10yrs ncb, no convictions, courtesy car, protected ncb, and with £250 excess for an accidental claim and £250 excess if the car is stolen.

Not bloody bad, since most of the quotes i was getting were nearer the £450 mark.

Give them a try, im bloody glad i did....!!!

Just had a look at that peopleschampion.com website. It looks like it uses the same "back end" site that moneysupermarket.com uses.

I'd tried a search with them last week and got a price of £198 for a 2006 STi (quite a few prices around that mark), when you checked against it on their site it definitely listed the STi Type UK, but when you actually went to the insurers website linked from the quote the car you were actually getting quotes on was an Impreza 1.6RZ or something. I gave up in the end as almost all of the quotes I was getting back were based on the same base model rather than the car I'd actually entered into the db (including my reg plate).

im with elephant 23 2ncd and my mum insured to bring it down

only £246 fully comp all mods declared although that is on a vr6 group 17 but still cheap??? great postcode though

all i can say is if your young add your mum or any older female and it takes alot off as u recieve discount cos women are better drivers lol

just had a quote for a 99 type-r valued at 9k a few minor mods exhaust ind kit and only £766!!!

Just insured with A Plan this year for £468 for a 2006 STi Type UK (std) with me and the wife driving. Was almost a couple of hundred quid cheaper than the renewal from Bell Direct.

Tried Keith Mitchells as well but they said they couldn't get close to that figure apparently.
