need some help from the pro's to build a health scoob?

hi there sory to trouble you, but iwas wondering as u got
more experience and im still new to these cars, if you would kindly
tell what things would need to be done to make a classic uk spec run
270-300break safely, without the engine being lean or any other
downsides. money is not a problem its just dont know how to do a setup
properly need some help?

Decent intercooler and pipework

Decent Fuel Pump

Fully decatted exhaust of either 2.5 or 3inch bore

Decent free flowing panel filter

Remap of ECU or aftermarket ECU if original cannot be reflashed

TD05 turbo

Porting or better still aftermarket headers

Depending on year of car, Injectors may need upgrading

This will net in the region of 300hp

No need for CAI or FMIC at this stage

That should net you around 275 bhp....

If you wanna hit 300 bhp you likely have to change your turbo ? If you do that then you'll want to source a bugeye TMIC

thanks to all you guys, so after all those mods would there be any
strain on the engine? would i be needing a full rebuild if the car is
not tracked and not driven hard? while getting the remap done, is that
when everything would be set properly i.e the figures?

The guy down the garage is obviously on Class A drugs

 And if he is can I have some?

As long as the engine is in good order and regularly serviced it should take 300 without a problem but a turbo upgrade will be required.

Think the max for a std TD04 is the 280 region but it tends to run out of puff pretty quickly

Class C you say, PM me his details as Class C is my speciality

out of interest, what turbo is in my wrx import 00 (or 99)?

 

the guy I bought it off reckons that the car came out of the factory at 280bhp -- would that still be the td04?

 it does seem to run out of puff, as you say, seems to have two main power bursts through the revs.

Should be a VF 23 in a 99 Import

Yes, std power output of the Import WRX was 280

Hi Kaz : I assume your car is a M/Y 00 with TD04 turbo. If it is not, then this advice may change a bit.

Getting 280 bhp will cost a bit more than something like 260bhp and 260 ft/lbs and over 300 bhp a lot more expense is required. For 260/260, here is what I did on a M/Y 99 UK recently.

3" Revolution exhaust and downpipe. This made a noticable difference.

Ported O/E headers and matched up-pipe.  Again, a noticable difference. Generally at this power level/turbo, tubular headers will possibly loose power and add lag/reduce spool.

Stay with the O/E air box and snorkle. The O/E filter is good but disposable. If you want a reusable go for a K+N but it will not add any power.

Now for cheapness and ONLY if you have access to someone with a wide band lambda, that knows what they are doing, you can fit a GBE valve, cost under £35 posted. This allows the boost to be raised but the exhaust system and ported headers will already have freed up some boost anyway so you may need a fuel cut defender (FCD) to allow boost to be lifted further. How far you lift boost will depend on fueling but personally I would not exceed 1.2/1.25 bar ASSUMING fueling was good. The FCD will cost around £90 posted for an HKS for example, plus fitting.

It would be handy to have a boost guage, reading to 1.5 bar. Guage and pod cost is around £40-£50 posted and a Knock Link at £125-£150 posted is also a good idea.

Now a GBE valve and FCD is a crude but cheap way of achieving the power and if your car is M/Y 99/00 you could go for an Ecutek remap. This will cost in the region of £600 first time but you would not have the GBE and FCD and the boost guage and K.L., while desirable, would not be essential. With the Ecutek remap the ECU is set up specifically for your car's mods and you would get a bit nearer to your target.

Running Shell V-Power plus 1ml/litre of NF a couple of tank fulls in advance of you remap or even with the GBE valve will release still more power but you have to then run that fuel and NF permanently. (or drive gently when not) I hope this is helpful.

kassam im gunning for 280 300 bhp to mate with my92 wrxRA .so far my plans (ported headers and uppipe decat downpipe HKS back box HKS panel filter  and z4 ecu. im think more chance off getting 280.  oh and a knocklink to make sure all is running cool.

i might be wrong but i think a std uk is 213 bhp. and to go for 300 might cost alot more cash as your looking for a 90bhp incres on ya 213bhp.  why not send andy F a email tell him your taget you going for he will tell ya whats needed job done lol[Y]
