New forum a pile of dooo doo

ok apart from not knowing who originated the post,it is most annoying to have to scroll across to see pictures on the forum as the forum has made way  for adverts!!!!!!!, adverts is not what I paid my membership for[:@][:@].  getting more like scoobynet, and I dont like scoobynet!!!!!!!

 

Come on guys get a grip and return our forums to a far more user friendly format....ie the format before the last!!!!!!

Having to scroll along to see photos is one of the most annoying things ever. Completely ruins the photo imo.

 

Can it not be changed?

I like the new forum, some greatly improved features []

You can now see who's online just above their name on the left

The wisywig editor is excellent

You can go to different pages in a thread at the top and bottom of the page

You can skip to the next/previous thread by pressing the Next/Previous buttons

It's much more pleasing to the eye

The horizontal scrolling for the images is great, keeps the page nice and tidy

I cannot seem to login using Firefox though, even though I have cleared all my cookies 'n stuff. This could be a major problem, as I detest IE [:@]

You should only need to scroll to see pictures if the picture is bigger than your monitor's resolution. that's a problem no matter what forum you visit unless they employ picture resizing, but I don't know any that do that.

Neil, I don't get navigation options at the bottom of a thread. Did you turn on an option?

Stephen, you could add this to the css

.ForumPostBodyArea img {max-width:640px}

although, IE 6 and below would completely ignore this.

Any ideas how I can log in using FF then?

The on ething i miss was the "My posts" link............seems to have dissapeared and you know have to hunt ( if you can remember) for the threads you previously contributed too

Quick reply function is quite neat

Would still like a pop up box for PM's though  ( I've notcied those bugging FAO's are back)

You only get nav options when there is more than 10 posts (or whatever your options are set to). Mind you, the nav at the bottom allows you to skip to the next page on the thread, not the next thread (like at the top). Not a problem though []

Is there a user manual or a quick guide to all the Added features as most of them Ive only just noticed (online feature). Missing the info on howmany times a article has been viewed .

As regards to adverts just a neccessary evil I suppose!

It's all one to me. The thing I HATE is this O/T section. Can't stand it!!!!! I can't reember where I posted this or that, can't remember where I replied to this or that. Through the force of habit I'm inclined to click the Scottish Scoobies link at all times, even when I am in the O/T section. It takes me a minute or two to realise my mistake; just frustrating. I HATE it HATE it HATE it! Ok. I'm going for a lie down. Sorry you can't get in using FF Neil (snigger)!

Forums are outwith my control so can't change the max width thing. Plus I don't like that anyway, I prefer to have pictures in the size they were meant. I see the page nav options now, but we always had that at both top and bottom I believe. What I miss is the breadcrumb trail for which forum I'm in being at both top and bottom.

As for why you can't get in using Firefox - not sure. I went in to my cookies and deleted all the forums.sidc.co.uk ones, closed FF down, reopenned, logged in and that was it.

The actual post is scrollable not the whole page! Yes, very annoying.

I think we should maybe give it a chance - perhaps this is like when the new forum was introduced last time - leave it a couple of weeks to make sure it's working bug-free then start bringing in the 'bling' bits that we had before.

But aye, I agree, as it stands at the moment it's definitely a step down from the last version.

Having taken 2 days to get through password control on here I can now say that I'm not impressed with the new set up.

It will take time for people to adjust to this new style & as usual there's always going to be teething trouble.

eg. I just hope that the set up for photographs will change, reverting back to the latter setup would be much better IMHO.

This is the same CS forum, just with the upgrade and a few new features for IE7.
