BJM Posted December 21, 2006 Posted December 21, 2006 Is there anyone else who has this 'disorder'? I really really really hate when my cars dirty, It gets me down. You get up in the morning, walk out to the car, and what awaits? A big dirty mess, and you have to drive to work with folk looking thinking "Nice car, shame its boggin'" Has anyone sold their car coz it was dirty, like that was the final straw, don't like the car, but thats it its going. I once sold a car coz I needed tyres, sold the wifes car a couple of years ago coz she clipped a kerb and ballooned the tyre. Again that was the final straw for me. This sound crazy, but anone else associate with this ?!?
DonVeloci Posted December 21, 2006 Posted December 21, 2006 Yip! This time of year gets me down. At the very least I'll look to jet wash at tesco to keep the salt levels down but generally I like to proper wash the car once a week if possible. If it gets bad I'll wash it regardless of weather, standing in the pissing rain/sleet/snow with a pressure washer and a soapy bucket. Never sold a car because of dirt but in the past niggles and faults have led me give up and move on.
craig79 Posted December 21, 2006 Posted December 21, 2006 PMSL, know what you mean lads. When I've just washed the motor I try and avoid 'dirty' roads or the dual-er in particular - forever hoping to prolong that 'gleam' Never lasts long tho'!!! I don't let it get me down just remind misel it's the only exercise i get !!!
col666 Posted December 21, 2006 Posted December 21, 2006 Get a life! your car stays clean for about 2 mins at this time of year, its a rally car for christ sake[]
wrxmania Posted December 21, 2006 Posted December 21, 2006 Hey - the quick reply is quite cool - a bit like Windows Vista - anyway, back on topic! Yes - I HATE a dirty car - even took the Lex to Autoshine Express for the full treatment - it took them 30 minutes to wash it - it was so filthy. Always a hand car wash person but it was too cold, too dark, and just too filthy not to [] Brian []

craig79 Posted December 22, 2006 Posted December 22, 2006 Get a life! your car stays clean for about 2 mins at this time of year, its a rally car for christ sake[] Easy tiger lol!!! It's just soul destroyin' to spend all that bloody time and the swine is barkit before your oot the street - never mind [] Believe me the car gets 'used' just cannae stick a manky motor!!!
wilky Posted December 22, 2006 Posted December 22, 2006 Some people like to polish every crevas of thier car some polish thier exhaust. Horses for courses. The Impreza was designed and built with one thing in mind. Winning rallies. low centre of gravity. Very easy to work on (once you remove all the nonsense) Handling without electronic assistance. I like to think my car is fairly quick. Thats what I modded it for, there are much faster cars around but I stay with subaru because of the above. Look under my bonnet its not very clean. However its very well maintained and it goes like feck. The car always needs a polish and the stone chip freaks recoil in anguish at one look at my bonnet. But thats not why I love it. I drive it filthy and I still phone the squirrel every time and tell him how astonished I am it could be caked in muck and I still thinks its brilliant. I see people in dirty cars every day enjoying driving. It doent bother me one iota. Callum W
westtra Posted December 22, 2006 Posted December 22, 2006 I hate it when its dirty and black is a nightmare to keep clean. As for problems with cars for selling thats why I have the scoob. Last car needed new tyres, service and new brakes so got rid of it and got the scoob as that was going to cost a few bob.
scoobaroo Posted December 22, 2006 Posted December 22, 2006 Wheres the Bandit when you need him [] Hes an expert [&] Marty.
oobster Posted December 22, 2006 Posted December 22, 2006 I just resign myself to plenty of work in the spring to get the car back up to how I like it - there is nothing you can do about a mucky car in the winter & i've learned it's more hassle than it's worth to try to keep it clean. Annoys me when the interior carpets etc are dirty though.
colin_ross Posted December 22, 2006 Posted December 22, 2006 You think you guys are bad? I've washed my daily driver once this year (March I think). For me washing a car is a weight saving exercise.
scoobyfuzzy Posted December 22, 2006 Posted December 22, 2006 il mayb go n take pics of ma car b4 i clean, it is seriously dirty after a 550 mile round trip down to york yesterday, it was that bad ma headlights didnt illuminate the road properly, there was that much dirt on them, could bearly see the road, had to stop quite alot of times to wipe the dirt off the headlights, oh n ma windscreen washers decided to stop working aswell. fuzzy
scoobyiain Posted December 22, 2006 Posted December 22, 2006 I hate dirty cars, nothing you can do this time of year but keep on top of it as much as possible and make sure it gets a good wash, prep, wax and sealant before the bad weather comes in that way it just takes a quick was and spray detailer to keep it safe.
wrxmania Posted December 22, 2006 Posted December 22, 2006 Just washed both the cars - look a bit better now.
frank c Posted December 22, 2006 Posted December 22, 2006 Quick reply....NO I bought my car to drive not to clean, but i suppose i am a lazy barsteward...lol
~ ~ Cal ~~ Posted December 22, 2006 Posted December 22, 2006 Once a week for me ..........cannot cope with salt being on my whip. Handwash once a week in summer ( by my own fair mitts) and in winter jet wash / hand wash from some local Polish trojans who even clean inside my PFF7's. My wifes car normally gets semi-neglected but we have just bouht her a new Golf FSI Sport so it's getting some treatment too Roll on April and salt free roads ( but pesky flies) Cal
rabskyline Posted December 24, 2006 Posted December 24, 2006 i used to stay in a nice little cul de sac at the beach and recently moved to a big farm cottage. now i am a stickler for most of this stuff including.....the two front seats have to be at the same angle and at the same level across the front !! now thats o c d for ya !! and the visors must be down or up ( not one of each !) lol !! but i have managed to let the outside not bother me so much as i would have to wash the bugger every time i left the house !! the inside remains my little padded cell !! but yes i also have issues ![:-*]
