derek_pettigrew Posted December 16, 2006 Posted December 16, 2006 ok opinions please got the chance to get a subsidised leased car from work keeping the scoob for weekends. i cant make up my mind between focus st audi s3 audi a4 s line 2.0 t or golf r32
gus the bus Posted December 16, 2006 Posted December 16, 2006 A4 for me! Or another Scoob just coz you can[][]
derek_pettigrew Posted December 16, 2006 Author Posted December 16, 2006 why the a4 rather than the s3
BJM Posted December 16, 2006 Posted December 16, 2006 For me there would be no choice, has to be the S3. Focus is a ford (nuff said ) A4 nice but does not have that magic "S" Golfs a poor mans Audi Sorry if thats upset folk, but thats my opinion!
gus the bus Posted December 16, 2006 Posted December 16, 2006 Quote why the a4 rather than the s3 Just prefer it myself. much nicer lines and shape than the A3. Not an A3 fan I'm afraid. Sorry! just my preferance. Gus
_jac_ Posted December 16, 2006 Posted December 16, 2006 get the A3 3.2 quatro s-line with DSG its an amazing car...I have one and its lazy mans performance car a nice change from the scooby JAC
twofourdonkey Posted December 16, 2006 Posted December 16, 2006 S3 or R32. Audi if you're a badge snob, Golf if you're not.
Alan-G Posted December 16, 2006 Posted December 16, 2006 What kinda line of work are ye in mate ? Geeze a Job!
andy Posted December 17, 2006 Posted December 17, 2006 Is this a case of them giving you a car allowance each month and you then choose what you drive and source it yourself or do you tell them what you want and they get and pay for the car?
Alan-G Posted December 17, 2006 Posted December 17, 2006 Looks like it to me. Reitterate, Geeze a job DUB!
david_taylor Posted December 17, 2006 Posted December 17, 2006 Focus ST mate. You will not find a motor journalist including Clarkson with a bad word to say about the ST. The chassis is meant to be amazing and give a STI a real run for its money on a dry track! Has a bit of pressence as well!
westtra Posted December 17, 2006 Posted December 17, 2006 If its new S3 ad def go for that but is there not a bit of a waiting list for it. Other than that the R32.
derek_pettigrew Posted December 17, 2006 Author Posted December 17, 2006 i choose what i want and the work source it my contribution increases with the price of the car but insurance and servecinG is included plus tyres and any other wear and tair
andy Posted December 17, 2006 Posted December 17, 2006 Quote i choose what i want and the work source it my contribution increases with the price of the car but insurance and servecinG is included plus tyres and any other wear and tair Not sure how it works when you're contributing towards the car, but watch you don't fall foul of company car tax. It can be a fair whack these days. That's why I opted out and took an allowance instead.
scoobaroo Posted December 17, 2006 Posted December 17, 2006 No ifs no buts, S3 all the way [Y] 225 bhp and top notch build quality [] Marty.
derek_pettigrew Posted December 17, 2006 Author Posted December 17, 2006 the new s3 has 265 bhp i think
westtra Posted December 17, 2006 Posted December 17, 2006 your right 265 but should be easy tunable to 300 plus with correct remap.
G.T. Posted December 17, 2006 Posted December 17, 2006 well ive had an a4 sline and the finish interior etc is spot on but its a big car ive also had a mk4 r32 for the past couple of weeks and i love it to bits golf for me mate[Y]
darryl_martin Posted December 17, 2006 Posted December 17, 2006 Def be looking at going out in either the R32 or S3, then seeing what I preferred. Was tempted by an old S3 before getting the latest scoob. Salesman seemed to be waiting for me to look scared, or comment on how fast it was, but tbh I thought it might be broken lol[]. Quite lacklustre after the scoob. But if it's a new one........[H]
derek_pettigrew Posted December 20, 2006 Author Posted December 20, 2006 thanks for the thoughts folks looks the s3
